Harry Kane celebrates with Jamie Vardy after scoring the first goal for England

FT: England 2-1 Turkey. Vardy and Kane both score as they lay a claim to start as a front two in France. Turkey did level and showed up the Three Lions' defensive issues at times, but it's a victory in their first warm-up game with Jack Wilshere coming through over an hour of football after almost a year out of action for his country. Next up on May 27 is Australia in Sunderland before the final warm-up game at Wembley against Portugal on June 2.

GREAT SAVE! England all over the place at the back as Sahan's volley at the far post is brilliantly palmed away by the keeper.

CLOSE! Kane almost seals victory with a clever turn and shot after Vardy had chased a long ball and laid it off for his strike partner.

Three minutes added.

'God save our Queen' belting out around the Manchester City Stadium.

VIDEO: Jamie's joy.

Vardy and Kane to start as a front two v Russia - discuss...

TURKEY CHANGE: Inan off, Tufan on.

TURKEY CHANGE: Sen off, Oztekin on.

Vardy showing just why he's a constant menace, just like a rash. He's all over defenders and never gives up!

STAT: Jamie Vardy has scored in each of his last three games for England, including in his first start on home soil last time out.

GOAL!!!!! England regain the lead. Vardy nets from close range and a tight angle after Cahill's header from a right-wing corner was fumbled by the keeper.

Drinkwater curves a deep cross to the far post for Kane, but he's pipped to it by a defender. Corner ball. Can England win it late here?

Kane's penalty miss is England's first for some time...

Kane tumbles on the edge of the box but the referee waves away the appeals.

TURKEY CHANGE: Olcay Sahan on for the goalscorer, Calhanoglu.

England started well but have been disjointed since the 13th minute equaliser. There have been some good spells but overall it's not been great.

A potential question mark over Sterling? Think he'll be on the plane but it's not been great for him since the 2014 World Cup. Not really kicking on.

VIDEO: Harry's howler from the spot.

Kane rises to meet Henderson's cross but is penalised for using the defender to help his leap. The Spurs man is keen to atone for his spot-kick gaffe.

ENGLAND CHANGE: Sterling off, Danny Drinkwater on. Did Raheem do enough?

KANE MISSES! The Spurs man steps up but smashes his spot kick against the left-hand post and wide of target.

A mistake lets Vardy in to drive towards goal. Topal can't live with his pace and has to pull the Leicester man down. That'll be a yellow and Kane will step up to take the penalty...

TURKEY CHANGES: Erkin and Ozyakup replaced by Koybasi and Tekdemir.

England have two more warm-up matches before they set off for France. They host Australia at Sunderland's Stadium of Light on May 27 before heading back Wembley for a clash with Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal on June 2.

Kane with another whipped free kick that Babacan claims despite an inadvertent bodycheck from Cahill.

ENGLAND CHANGE: Wilshere replaced Henderson. The Arsenal man will feel it went well. Now, what can Hendo do?

Meanwhile, on the touchline Henderson is receiving some instructions. He will be joining the action shortly.

Another great delivery from Calhanoglu is met by a free header that drops dangerously by the far post.. England are under pressure with Hart scurrying but eventually clear their lines.

Stones showing he can indeed defend despite what his detractors say. It's at the expense of a corner and England's back four will come under the spotlight once more.

Cahill is skippering England on his 42nd cap today. Only Joe Hart has made more appearances from the starting XI.

Cahill mops up a Turkey break down the left with a well timed interception.

Wilshere drives at the heart of the Turkey defence but can't make up the ground to reach Alli's optimistic chipped return pass.

VIDEO: It's not been that bad an evening for Vardy, has it?

Wilshere booked.

How long before we see a change. Looks like Roy has made one tactical switch. Sterling is now behind the front two of Kane and Vardy.

At the other end a Kane free kick is attacked by Stones but the Everton defender can't divert his header on target. In the end he is affected by a challenge and bundles the ball wide.

CLOSE! This is a good spell for Turkey. Tosun kills a fizzed pass into his feet on the edge of the box and turns beautifully before sizzling a low drive inches wide of the far post.

Back up the other end and Rose is forced to concede a corner. Calhanoglu delivers a pinpoint cross for Tosun who flashes a header just wide. Sloppy defending from England.

Kane fires the ball into the net - but flagged offside this time! Lovely approach play once more from the home team.

More clever build up from England. Once more it's the Spurs connection as Walker exchanges a give and go with Alli but is flagged offside as he looked to deliver from the byline.

Calhanoglu is a big hope for Turkey. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder plays for German side, Bayer Leverkusen and has now notched six goals in 17 matches.

Leverkusen's midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu (L) celebrates scoring during the UEFA Champions League playoff football match between Bayer Leverkusen and SS Lazio, in Leverkusen, western Germany, on August 26, 2015

Calhanoglu is back on his feet and play resumes.

Calhanoglu currently down clutching his ankle after a strong challenge from Dier. Friendly? What friendly?

Almost another rapid-fire start from England. Vardy's attempted cutback deflects into the path of Alli who sees his 20-yard drive ricochet off a defender and into the grateful arms of Babacan.

How the modern world has caught up with football? Terim shows the referee Kane's offside goal via his mobile phone!

KICK OFF! Turkey restart the match.

VIDEO: The best of the first 45.

Vardy has been heavily involved for England but there's no doubt his best position is through the middle. Will Hodgson move to two up top in the second period? Could be a few changes in the offing too.

HT: England 1-1 Turkey. Kane's early strike got the hosts off to a flyer but Turkey hit back with their first ever goal against the Three Lions courtesy of Calhanoglu. Lots of positives in an attacking sense. The defence continues to be a weakness despite Dier's calming presence in the holding midfield role.

Vardy with a chance to show what he can do in a central position but he snatches at his shot from 30 yards and flashes it well wide of target.

HT approaching. There will be one minute added.

Calhanoglu arcs a beautiful free kick to the far post where Topal arrives on cue, but he can't keep his header down.

It may be 1-1 but there are some very good individual displays on show out there. Kane, Vardy, Alli and Dier all very bright.

The good and the bad from England in 60 seconds. Alli with a rare touch allows Stones to surge forward from the back and make his way into the opposite penalty area. The ball is then worked back to Vardy who gets his cross all wrong. It's well overhit and flies behind the goal.

England counter through Vardy's pace and the Foxes man almost finds Sterling with an audacious outside of the foot cross but the away side's rearguard stands firm. Kane's run left Vardy with little alternative then. If he'd held his position in the middle Vardy could have gone one-on-one against the last defender.

A solid spell of possession for Turkey. The visitors have come under a fair bit of pressure since levelling matters.

So, what do we reckon? Has Wilshere shown enough already to suggest he's ready for Euro 2016? Looks like it...

DID YOU KNOW? All five of England's goals in 2016 have been scored by either a Leicester City player or a Tottenham Hotspur player (Vardy with two, Harry Kane with two and Eric Dier with one).

Eric Dier celebrates with Jamie Vardy (L) after scoring the third goal for England against Germany

England probing once more. Dier with a lovely chip over the last man for Kane but the forward is flagged offside as Turkey struggled to deal with the danger.

Sterling showing some confidence but this time he gets a bit too excited as he drags a 30-yarder rather timidly wide of Babacan's goal.

Sterling skips to the byline and skins his man once more. It's a decent dink into the middle but Kane is outnumbered and Turkey manage to complete the clearance at the second time of asking.

Kane looks for Alli as England hope the Spurs combo works once more. This time it doesn't as the midfielder commits a foul as he tries to gain an advantage at the far post.

Oguzhan Ozyakup booked for tripping Sterling. Free kick to England on the right. Kane once again over it.

Kane leads an England counter and manages to cut in from the left before drilling in a low shot that Babacan easily gathers.

Wilshere fires a probing set piece into the near post area where Dier rises to head just wide into the side netting.

Sterling with more good approach play to win a corner on the right that Wilshere will take.

Obligatory pre-match team shot.

Decent work from Sterling as he exchanges a one-two before surging at the heart of the defence and trying to slip a pass into Kane. It's well cut out, but much better from the Man City winger who has struggled to get into the game so far.

DID YOU KNOW? England have lost just one of their last 10 international games on home soil (W9).

More good work from Wilshere but this time the execution of the curved pass to the far post isn't quite up to his mind's eye as it is just too long for Rose to reach.

More of the same from Wilshere and he'll be on the plane (if he stays fit, he'll probably be in the starting xi).

Wilshere slaloms in from the right beyond two defenders before drilling in a low shot that Babacan saves down at his near post.

It looked like an old fashioned drop ball was going to restart the game, but sadly it doesn't happen. Turkey give the ball back to England and we get back underway.

Play halted as the Turkish star receives treatment. Terim uses the time to give some instructions to his players.

Volkan Sen down injured. Boos from the crowd as Joe Hart stands over him and asks what is causing him to writhe in such supposed pain...

Turkey not here to make the numbers despite missing some key personnel. They are causing England some issues when they get on the ball.

Kane lines up another free kick. He's got the Ronaldo technique nailed but not the finish as it flies harmlessly wide of target.

This opening period sums up England's attack and defence...

GOAL!!! Turkey are level. It's the first time they have ever scored against England in their 11th meeting. Hakan Calhanoglu tucks into a empty net after Tosun had beaten the onrushing Hart to Oguzhan Ozyakup's clever pass to square it into the middle.

Kane fizzes a low cross-shot towards the far post that arrows a couple of yards wide. It just needed someone to anticipate the flight and get a touch on it.

Alli looking bright early doors. The Spurs man draws the foul from Gokhan Gonul on the left just outside the area. A free kick in a dangerous position. Kane is over it.

Vardy's pace causes more problems for Turkey. The Leicester man gets free down the left but can't dig out the cross he was hoping for with Kane lurking at the far post.

PHOTO: Happy Harry.

DID YOU KNOW? Turkey are unbeaten in their last 13 games (W10 D3), keeping six clean sheets and not conceding more than once in a game since November 2014 (4-0 defeat against Brazil).

VIDEO: Kane's opener.

A lively start at the Etihad has got the crowd involved. It's very open out there which will be music to the ears of the England forwards and a decent test for their suspect defence.

Turkey almost level immediately. England are cut to pieces down the right and when the ball is laid back for Ozan Tufan the midfielder is only denied by a brilliant block by Walker inside his own six-yard box.

That was Kane's 32nd goal of the season for club and country. Clinical.

GOAL!!!! Kane gets England off to a flyer. Sterling spins into space and feeds Alli on the edge of the box. The Spurs midfielder quickly sees his clubmate, Kane and dinks a neat pass into the forward who coolly slots into the corner. A touch of offside about it, but the officials give the goal.

Almost an instant impact from the Vardy-Kane link-up in only their second England start together. Kane seizes upon a loose pass and drives forward before slipping a clever ball into the run of the lightning Vardy who can't quite get his toe to it. Turkey survive but a real sign of what those two offer the Three Lions.

KICK OFF! England get the contest underway.

Turkey face a tough task in France having been drawn to meet Spain, Croatia and Czech Republic in Group D.

Turkey coach, Fatih Terim is tipping England to have a successful Euro 2016 campaign. He said: "I think England will qualify into the knockout phase comfortably. I don't believe they will have the same disappointments as in previous major tournaments... They are a team who concede very few goals but score a lot."

Fatih Terim

Hodgson on the fitness of Wilshere (starts) and Henderson (on the bench): "Jordan alongside Jack, I suppose, are the reasons why we've extended our squad from the usual 23 to 26. We do need to assess them, we do need to be sure that if we're going to select them they will be the Jordan Henderson, the Jack Wilshere that we know - not players who are unfortunately recovering to be that player again."

HEAD-TO-HEAD v TURKEY: Played 10, W8 D2 L0. The Three Lions have scored 31 goals and have yet to concede a goal!

DID YOU KNOW? This is the first time England have played a home game away from Wembley since the new version of the national stadium opened in 2007.

Turkey are without some star names in Manchester. Arda Turan, Nuri Sahin and Burak Yilmaz are all absent because of their involvement at club level with Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Beijing Guoan respectively.

50 years of hurt - but don't blame us, says Roy... "We don't want them to be fearful. This group don't have baggage. They aren't weighed down by the sins of the fathers. That's what our message will be."

Harry Kane on forging a partnership with Jamie Vardy: "If we are playing together it will be very exciting. If the manager puts us together we will be ready to go and try to score as many goals as we can... We are different sort of players - he has got a lot of pace and can run in behind. That will probably allow me to drop off and get into space."

A reminder that Hodgson has 19 players on duty this evening as the representatives from Manchester United and Liverpool in his 26-man squad are excused following their involvement in the Europa League and FA Cup finals respectively. Jordan Henderson is the exception as he is one of the players bidding to prove his fitness ahead of the Euros.

The big teams news sees Jack Wilshere start and make his first appearance for England since hitting a brace in their 3-2 comeback success in Slovenia back on June 14, 2015. He is one of seven changes to the Three Lions team that lost 2-1 to Holland in March.
