An error from Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea gave Switzerland a 1-1 draw against Spain on Sunday evening.
The home side took the lead through talented young right-back Álvaro Odriozola, who finished well on the full volley from the edge of the box for his first goal for his country.

Spain had other chances at the Estadio de la Cerámica, but their front-line pairing of Diego Costa and Iago Aspas struggled to click, with the Celta Vigo striker withdrawn at half time having failed to make an impression.
Switzerland levelled matters when Ricardo Rodriguez turned home when De Gea spilled a shot into the path of the AC Milan defender.

TALKING POINT

Should Spain by worried by David De Gea’s blunder? De Gea can probably count the number of mistakes he has made over the past few years on one hand, but he was at fault for Switzerland’s equalising goal here. It was almost as if he failed to judge the flight of the initial shot, fumbling the ball at the feet of Rodriguez. So should Lopetegui be concerned by this mistake? Or will this focus De Gea ahead of the World Cup?

MAN OF THE MATCH

Alvaro Odriozola (Spain) With Dani Carvajal out injured, all eyes were on the young full back as he was handed his first Spain start, and Odriozola made quite the impression. The highlight of his evening was his goal, struck on the full volley from the edge of the penalty area, but the Real Sociedad right back impressed throughout, giving his side an outlet down the flank. Odriozola could be a good option for the World Cup.
