Kylian Mbappe suffered a first-half injury as France returned to winning ways with a narrow triumph over Uruguay in a home friendly.
The 19-year-old played just over 30 minutes before being forced off with a shoulder problem after an awkward landing on a night when a Olivier Giroud penalty proved decisive. In a disastrous turn of events for Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappe's club mate Neymar also limped out of Brazil's friendly against Cameroon with a suspected groin injury.

The teenager had missed France's best opportunity in the first-half when he chipped wide of the post after being released by a sublime Antoine Griezmann through-pass, as Didier Deschamps' side looked to bounce back after the 2-0 Nations League defeat to Netherlands last time out.
France were the better side by some distance in a rerun of the World Cup quarter-final, and Giroud's 52nd-minute penalty ultimately ensured Les Bleus recorded an identical score-line victory over Oscar Tabarez's side.
Uruguay had few chances on the night but the visitors may have snatched a draw late on had substitute Jonathan Rodriguez been more clinical. But France held on to claim victory on their final appearance of what has been a majestic year.

TALKING POINT - How serious is Mbappe's injury?

He fell on his shoulder after a superb challenge by Uruguay goalkeeper Martin Campana and immediately signalled to be substituted. Initially he was treated at the touchline before being introduced back into action. Only a minute later, however, he went to ground before trudging down the tunnel clutching his arm.
It was a blow for France, who lost their momentum for a spell, but a bigger problem for PSG who are facing the prospect of playing a crunch Champions League match with Liverpool without their two best players.

MAN OF THE MATCH - Tanguy Ndombele (France)

Not only France's hardest working player, but their best passer of the night. He hardly put a foot wrong.

KEY MOMENTS

16' - MISS! Uruguay are carved apart by an excellent Griezmann pass! Mbappe leaves Laxalt dead with blistering pace as he races through on goal, but he tries to dink the ball over the onrushing Campana and gets it all wrong. It sails well wide of goal.
31' - INJURY! Mbappe is in clear pain after falling awkwardly on his shoulder and that could be the end his night. This would be a huge blow to France and, of course, PSG.
51' - PENALTY TO FRANCE! Griezmann's volley is blocked by Caceres inside the Uruguay box and the referee points to the spot! Did it hit his hand or his chest? It's up for debate...

52' - GOAL! France 1-0 Uruguay: Griezmann, the country's usual penalty-taker, stands aside to allow Giroud to take the spot-kick, and he makes no mistake, slotting the ball into the bottom corner and beyond Campana. Great effort.
84' - URUGUAY CHANCE! They haven't had many, but this what a great opportunity for the visitors. Cavani sets Rodriguez up on a plate with a fine pass, but he can only slice it straight at Lloris.
