Belgium looked the business. Scotland, err, did not. Martinez will be pleased with what he saw from his team. They look to have picked up where they left off at the World Cup. McLeish has a lot of thinking to do before Monday night's game against Albania.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Scotland 0-4 Belgium
FRASER WIDE! The Bournemouth man has probably been Scotland's best player in this second half. This time he gets shot away from the edge of the box. It flashes wide of the far post!
This has been a chastening experience for Scotland. They start their Nations League campaign against Albania on Monday night and they must turn in a better display than this.
Three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
FIZZES WIDE! That wasn't far away at all. Vertonghen strides forward and takes on the shot from the edge of the box. Gordon was beaten by the drive, but the ball flashes wide of the post.
- OffMousa DembéléBelgium
- OnBirger VerstraeteBelgium
Another change for the away side and it's Dembele who comes off to be replaced.
There were some ironic jeers and cheers after that shot from Fraser. The home fans haven't had much to cheer in this first half. Scotland have been flattened by Belgium.
THE CLOSEST SCOTLAND HAVE COME! Fraser uses Vertonghen as a marker to bend a shot at the Belgian goal. But Courtois gets across to make the diving save. Nice idea.
RUSSELL DRAWS THE SAVE! The Sporting KC man creates the shooting opportunity for himself inside the box, but Courtois makes the simple save from Russell. Not a bad try.
Batshuayi has made quite the impression since coming on at the break. Once a figure of fun at Chelsea, the striker has managed to pick up his career at Dortmund and Valencia.
It just keeps coming back at Scotland. Even when they win the ball, they have nobody in attack to either run the channels or hold it up to bring others into the game.
Scotland are craving the full time whistle now. This hasn't been an enjoyable experience for the Dark Blues. They haven't seen much of the ball over the course of the match as a whole.
Scotland were cut open again there, with Meunier surging into the box. His cut back couldn't find someone in yellow, though, and the home side just about scramble the ball away.
Next up for Scotland is the Nations League opener against Albania on Monday night. The pressure will really be on then for the Dark Blues to pick up three points to start their campaign.
Scotland have steadied the ship somewhat after losing that fourth goal, but they are still struggling to create much in the final third. McLeish will have plenty to think about after this.
While Scotland have been poor this evening, Belgium have looked pretty great. They will surely be among the frontrunners for the European Championships in 2020.
- OffJohn McGinnScotland
- OnGraeme ShinnieScotland
McGinn's night is up and Shinnie comes on to win his third Scotland cap.
- OffCallum McGregorScotland
- OnJohnny RussellScotland
And the second change for Scotland sees Russell come on for the final 20 minutes.
- OffCharlie MulgrewScotland
- OnStephen O'DonnellScotland
On comes O'Donnell to replace Mulgrew, who had a pretty difficult evening.
The Naismith chance actually came from Boyata losing the ball to McGregor not far out from his own goal. What is it about players with a Scottish link losing the ball cheaply tonight?
COURTOIS SAVE! That probably should have been a goal for Scotland. The cross from the left side was a good one, the ball was slightly behind Naismith, who digs out the shot. Courtois saves.
Will the back three system even last as long as Monday's Nations League game against Albania? On this basis, Scotland just aren't ready to play in this shape and with this system.
This has been a rude awakening for Scotland this evening. They have tried to play out from the back with a back three, but on this basis they have so much work to do to make it work.
This has been pretty bleak stuff for Scotland in the second half. They have looked so vulnerable on the ball. Yes, Belgium are a good team, but Scotland have contributed to their downfall.
- GoalMichy BatshuayiBelgium
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 0 Belgium 4 (60 mins - Michy Batshuayi). It's happened again! This time it's Jack who gives up the ball 25 yards out from goal and Batshuayi makes no mistake in whipping a right-footed finish past Gordon. How many mistakes are Scotland going to make?
Scotland have made so many mistakes at the back this evening. Souttar is the only one who looks comfortable playing out from the defence. The rest have looked very vulnerable.
This game has disappeared into the horizon for Scotland. McLeish might have harboured hopes of a second half comeback at the break, but Belgium have stretched their legs.
- OffEden HazardBelgium
- OnHans VanakenBelgium
That's a night for Hazard who comes off to be replaced by Vanaken.
NAISMITH SHOOTS... WIDE! The Hearts forward had to get that effort away quickly, as Vertonghen closed him down, but Naismith's strike flashes high and wide of the target.
- OffStuart ArmstrongScotland
- OnRyan JackScotland
Jack has also been thrown on by McLeish for his second cap.
- OffKevin McDonaldScotland
- OnRobert SnodgrassScotland
A second change for Scotland and it's Snodgrass who comes on on his birthday.
- GoalMichy BatshuayiBelgium
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 0 Belgium 3 (53 mins - Michy Batshuayi). And there's a third goal for Belgium and it came from another Scotland mistake. Mulgrew's pass is picked off by Hazard, who plays through Batshuayi for the simple finish past Gordon.
On second viewing, Gordon might have done better with Hazard's goal. It's the kind of goal that looks worse for the goalkeeper when you slow it down, though. It was struck with so much power.
How many times have we seen this sort of performance from Scotland? They have defended well at times, but against higher calibre opposition they just can't get up the pitch.
- OffDries MertensBelgium
- OnYannick CarrascoBelgium
And finally, Carrasco was thrown on by Martinez at the half time interval.
- OffTimothy CastagneBelgium
- OnThomas MeunierBelgium
PSG right back Meunier also came on for the away side.
- OffRomelu LukakuBelgium
- OnMichy BatshuayiBelgium
Batshuayi is also on for the Red Devils. He signed for Valencia in the summer.
- OffVincent KompanyBelgium
- OnThomas VermaelenBelgium
Belgium also made a raft of changes to their side at the break. Vermaelen is on...
- OffLeigh GriffithsScotland
- OnSteven NaismithScotland
Scotland made a change at the half time interval, with Naismith coming on for the hosts.
- GoalEden HazardBelgium
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 0 Belgium 2 (46 mins - Eden Hazard). What a goal. Hazard shifts the ball on to his left foot, his weaker side, and fires a shot through Gordon and into the back of the Scotland net. Belgium have a commanding lead now.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way at Hampden. Belgium lead Scotland 1-0.
Does McLeish need to make changes at the break to ensure Scotland carry more threat in the final third of the pitch? Should Belgium be further ahead? Tweet me your thoughts!
- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Scotland 0-1 Belgium. The Red Devils have been by far and away the better team, but the Scots will be disappointed by how they gifted Belgium the opener.
HOW DIDN'T THAT GO IN? Hazard's header is pushed on to the post at the near post by Gordon and then the Scotland keeper has to react to stop Lukaku from the rebound.
Scotland need the half time whistle here. This has become a backs to the wall job for the home side. They need to come up with a better plan for getting out on the counter attack.
OFF THE BAR! Kompany comes within inches of adding a second goal for Belgium, getting high from a corner kick to head an effort off the top of the Scottish crossbar.
MCGINN SHOT! Some nice play from Scoland around the edge of the box gives McGinn the shooting opportunity, but his effort was too tame and Courtois can make the save.
Just like Armstrong's a few moments ago, Dembele commits a pretty cynical foul to stop McGinn from getting away on the counter attack. In a real match, that would have been a yellow.
At times, this game has been played at walking pace in this first half. Belgium are knocking the ball around the midfield without much in the way of opposition from the Scots.
Fraser is playing in the right wing back position for Scotland this evening, but it's not really a position that makes the most of his qualities. He looks a little bit tired already.
This might not be so surprising given the pedigree of the two teams, but Belgium look to be in control of the game as a contest now. Scotland are having to sit deep in their own half.
Martins was under pressure heading into the World Cup, but Belgium made the semi finals and that seemed to appease some of his critics. He has targeted winning the Euros.
Armstrong knew what he was doing there. Scotland had players forward and Belgium were set for a counter attack. The Southampton midfielder took out Mertens to stop them.
McGinn has been the flavour of the month of late, but he won't want to see that goal back. He dithered on the ball after taking the throw out from Gordon. Not great awareness.
- GoalRomelu LukakuBelgium
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Scotland 0 Belgium 1 (28 mins - Romelu Lukaku). What a dreadful goal for Scotland to give away. McGinn gave up possession 25 yards out, allowing Dembele to play through Hazard, who squared for Lukaku to finish into the empty net with Gordon scrambling.
Boyata is back on his feet and it looks like the Celtic centre back is going to be fine to continue here. Rodgers will be relieved.
GOOD DEFENDING! Belgium drive into the box, with Hazard prodding through a pass for Lukaku. But Tierney came across to make the challenge as he was bearing down on goal.
BOYATA INJURY? This will be a concern for Brendan Rodgers! Boyata looks to have picked up an injury in a clash with Armstrong. This would be a blow for Celtic.
Griffiths finally has the right boots brought from the dressing room for him! Scotland are momentarily down to 10 men while their number nine presumably changes the studs he's wearing.
One of the things Scotland have lacked in recent campaigns is someone who can bring the ball out from the back. Well, now they have Souttar and the Hearts centre back looks the business.
ALMOST A COURTOIS HOWLER! McGinn put his foot through the ball from 20 yards out. Courtois makes the save, but the ball then bounces through his own legs. He gets away with it.
Griffiths isn't happy with the boots he has on at the moment. However, he's not happy with the ones that were brought to the touchline for him to change into either.
NOW TIELEMANS SHOOTS! Scotland are packing the backline and so that is forcing Belgium into shooting from distance. This time it's Tielemans who fires over the crossbar.
Griffiths has had very little work with up front for Scotland so far. The Celtic striker has been dropping deep to try and pick up the ball, but that is robbing Scotland of an outlet up top.
MERTENS EFFORT! The Napoli winger takes aim from about 25 yards out. It was a decent try, but was always bending away from Gordon's goal. He watches it flash wide.
The problem for Scotland is that if they play a high defensive line then the likes of Hazard and Lukaku will have space to exploit. Playing deep gives them control, though.
One wonders if Hampden will be fuller for Monday's game against Albania, when Scotland start their Nations League campaign. This is not a good look for the Scottish FA.
Right on cue Scotland surge forward with at least some energy. But after a quick counter attack, they mess up the chance on the edge of the box to play the final ball.
This game already feels a little bit lifeless, I won't lie to you. Belgium have possession and there's no real great urgency from Scotland to win the ball back. A little bit passive.
McGinn has been a big success since making the move to Aston Villa from Hibernian just a few weeks ago. There's a lot of pressure on his shoulders. Scotland expects big things of him.
The Red Devils are now taking a grip of this game in terms of the ball. They are knocking the ball around freely and look dangerous when they work into the final third.
Boyata is in the Belgium team this evening, which is interesting for Scottish football fans. He has been the subject of much controversy at Celtic this summer. He's still in the national team, though.
THORGAN FIRES WIDE! Good play from the two Hazard brothers, with Eden winning the ball from Fraser before pulling back for Thorgan. He scuffs his shot wide of the target, though.
GORDON SAVES! Belgium win a freekick right on the edge of the box, but Gordon gets behind Mertens' low shot to stop the Napoli winger from opening the scoring for his side.
Scotland have actually started this match well. They are showing some nice ideas early on and are making some progress down the left wing. Encouraging stuff for the hosts.
JUST WIDE...but offside anyway! Nice link up play sees McGregor released through on goal after a nice flick on by Griffiths. But the Celtic striker was offside as he made the flick.
Scotland are actually still waiting for their first win over McLeish in his second spell as national team manager. They have played three, lost two and drawn one. Not the best record.
Fair to say it's not exactly a red-hot atmosphere inside Hampden for this one. Swathes of empty seats at the national stadium. Maybe they're just staying away until Monday's game.
- 1st Half
The match is under way at Hampden! It's Scotland against Belgium.
Time for the national anthems...
The two groups of players are in the tunnel at Hampden Park, ready to walk out.
Belgium come into this match on the back of making the semi finals at the World Cup. Their team is established, so this is about fine tuning ahead of the UEFA Nations League.
Tactics talk! It looks like Scotland will be playing in a 3-5-2 formation for this game. Is that a sign of things to come for the national team under McLeish? It might suit their players.
Brothers in arms! Eden and Thorgan Hazard are both in the Belgium team for tonight's game. There's also debuts for youngsters Castagne and Tielemens. Very strong side from Martinez.
Bold team! McLeish has made a few surprise picks for this evening's game. Souttar has been handed his debut, with Mulgrew in that defensive line. McGinn is also in the lineup, as is Fraser.
TEAM NEWS: Scotland - Gordon, Fraser, Robertson, Souttar, Mulgrew, Tierney, McGinn, McDonald, Griffiths, McGregor, Armstrong. /// Belgium - Courtois, Boyata, Kompany, Vertoghen, Castagne, Tielemens, Dembele, T Hazard, Mertens, E Hazard, Lukaku.
