It's all over in Paris and France have breezed to a 3-0 win. Didier Deschamps' team open their Euro 2020 Group F campaign with a headline fixture against Germany next Tuesday.
Those late goals have ensured the scoreline more accurately reflects the nature of a one-sided game tonight. It's been a breeze for France at times and they are going into the Euros in fine fettle.
- GoalOlivier GiroudFrance
GOOOAAALLL!!! Giroud gets his second, getting on the end of Ben Yedder's low cross and slotting into an open goal from close range. 3-0.
Pogba takes a knock to the back and gets gingerly back to his feet. He won't like that so late in a relatively meaningless game.
France have been good without being remarkable tonight. At times during the first-half it was hard to see who else could win the Euros this summer, such was the quality of their attacking play. But as the game has gone on, the old lack of killer instinct has drifted into the game.
GOOOAAALLL!!! That’s the win secured and Giroud shows why he’s such a valuable member of this squad with a tidy finish at the near post off Pavard’s cross. 2-0 France.
Pavard finds Giroud with a low cross, but his flicked effort his blocked. The pace has completely gone out of the game in this second half.
Lloris has not had a save to make tonight in the France goal, but the game is still 1-0 and there is always a chance of even a team as limited as Bulgaria sneaking a goal against the run of play. Yes it’s a warm-up game, but France really need to be putting teams to the sword when they are this dominant.
Wowzers, that’s extremely close to an equaliser out of nowhere as Karageren sneaks a shot through the legs of Varane and just wide of the far post.
Paul Pogba tries to weave his way through an absolute forest of red-shirted defenders in the box and somehow comes away with a corner. He’s a joy to watch when playing like this.
Lemar tries his luck with a 50/50 effort from range but his fizzing shot flies over the bar.
Dembele looks to twist into space in the box for a shot, but it’s well read by the defence and his effort is blocked.
Dembele, with his first touch after coming on, plays a rapier-pass straight through the heart of the Bulgaria defence to set up Mbappe with a great chance, but, in his attempt to dummy the keeper he drags his shot narrowly wide.
Pavard is set up for a shot from the same sort of range as his famous World Cup strike, but he doesn’t quite catch this one.
Pogba produces a wonderful piece of skill to open up Bulgaria down the right, but his final ball doesn’t quite reach the same lofty standard.
Varane is pinged for a foul out on the touchline, probably the first error of the night for the classy centre-back.

I'll spare you the details of every single change as that'll overwhelm the coverage, but here's another one from Bulgaria before I stop.
Giroud almost plays in Mbappe. It’s good, but it’s not quite the liquid football we say when Benzema was on the field.
Pavard has hurt himself a little in the… midriff? Let’s call it the midriff. It doesn’t look comfortable whatever words are appropriate.

It's a first change for Bulgaria. The first of many you suspect.
Mbappe is given a bit of time on the corner of the box so curls in a shot. It’s a straightforward save this time for the keeper, but he makes, and in the sort of style that looks good for the cameras too.
- Yellow cardKiril DespodovBulgaria
Pogba glides forward with classy elegance and the only way Bulgaria can stop him is to hack him down.
- 2nd Half
And away we go again at the Stade de France.
Why not take a look at this lovely feature on a special summer in French football history to go along with your half-time brew.
- End of 1st Half
That’s the end of a first half in which France have sizzled at times, but the 1-0 scoreline will not satisfy Deschamps, and neither will a possible injury for Benzema.
Pogba’s vision is on full show as he sweeps a long free-kick forward to give Mbappe something to run on to. But there’s nobody up in support and eventually he’s forced to turn back and build another attack.
That’s another good save from Naumov, this time to deny substitute Giroud from a tight angle. The Bulgaria keeper is probably man of the match so far.
So close to a second! France are still down to ten men temporarily as Giroud prepares to come on, but it doesn’t make France any less incisive, as Mbappe feeds Griezmann and the keeper is forced into another blinder of a save.
He clattered in to a defender so it could well just be a dead leg or something along those lines for Benzema, but that’s the end of his evening and he heads down the tunnel to receive further treatment.
Benzema is indicating he’s a bit sore and wants to go off here. Let’s hope it’s nothing more than a knock.
Benzema is getting a bit of tape on a sore leg. If there’s any doubt I imagine you’d get him off the pitch here, there’s always Giroud waiting on the bench anyway, no need to gamble on his fitness unnecessarily.
Benzema comes flying in at the back post but his header is turned behind by a covering defender. This could get quite messy if France keep their foot on the gas.
- GoalAntoine GriezmannFrance
GOOOAAALLL!!! There is the opener and it’s a spectacular one, an overhead kick from Antoine Griezmann. It took a deflection to take the shine off it a little, but that’s a lovely effort and a deserved lead for the French. 1-0.
Pogba squeezes a cross right across the face of goal, It’s absolutely begging for a touch, but nobody provides one and Bulgaria survive.
That should be 1-0. The front three link up with Griezmann pulling the defence out of shape and Mbappe playing a delightful one-two with Benzema, but the PSG man is denied by a brilliant save from Naumov.
Bulgaria curl in a lovely free-kick and Pogba does well to get his head on it and turn it behind for a corner. Good focus that, it would be easy to switch off in a game this one-sided in open play.
Excuse me if I’m gushing a bit, but it’s great to watch international football of this standard. Got a lot of time for it.
France are looking very slick here, completely dominating in midfield, with Kante and Tolisso controlling everything and Pogba dropping in to lend a hand whenever necessary. It’s a great way to use Pogba too, freeing him a little more to unleash that front three too.
This Benzema and Mbappe partnership might just be stoking up Real Madrid’s interests in the younger man once again…
Benzema and Mbappe link up again, but the final touch isn’t quite right from the Real Madrid man and the chance evaporates. That partnership is looking very threatening though.
Mbappe tests the keeper again with a snap shot inside the box. This is good stuff from France.
Ooh, that’s close. Benzema links up silkily with Mbappe and then almost reaps the rewards at the end of the move with a poked finish that slides just wide.
Hernandez whips in a cross but it’s slightly behind Benzema and he can’t quite twist to get his effort on target.
The official French team graphic wasn’t quite accurate, as I suspected. It looks like Mbappe is inside left, Griezmann inside right, and Benzema through the middle. And in midfield Paul Pogba is pushed extremely high, almost making it a front four at times.
Mbappe flashes a shot across the face of goal that has the goalkeeper scrambling for a second.
Another interesting element of tonight’s game will be to see how the forward trio of Griezmann, Mbappe and Benzema click, following the Real Madrid man’s reintroduction to the national set-up.
- 1st Half
France kitted out in all-white with a lovely little French flag trim, get the game underway.
Here we go, the players emerge from the tunnel in Paris, greeted by a scattering of supporters and a swathe of tricolours.
Bulgaria don’t play again until the World Cup qualifiers at the start of September. Currently ranked 71 in the world, this is not a vintage era for the Bulgarian national team, and tonight’s task will be to stick in the game for as long as possible against the World Cup holders.
And that opening game is a big one, against neighbours Germany, next Tuesday evening – the final game of the opening round of group matches.
Didier Deschamps will be looking to use tonight to get a bit of action into his first XI, boost some confidence with hopefully a big win, and get the last bits of fine tuning done ahead of their opening game of the tournament.
The only significant absentee is Rabiot, who sits out with a knock. Corentin Tolisso of Bayern Munich starts in his place.
One look at that France side and it’s pretty clear to see why they are most people’s favourites to win the Euros. In fact, looking at that, it’s tricky to see who can stop them, its an astonishingly strong side.
BULGARIA XI: Naumov; Bozhikov, Antov, Hristov, Turitsov; I.Iliev, Kraev, Yankov, Chochev, Despodov; A.Iliev.
