FULL TIME: Spain 0-0 Portugal

Off the bar! That was the chance! Morata has released in behind the Portuguese defence, he was one-on-one, but the Spain striker smashes his strike off the crossbar!

There will be two minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the match.

Patricio saves! That's the first time the Portuguese goalkeeper has been really tested this evening. He gets down well to make the save low down from a freekick that was flicked on.

As a former Champions League and La Liga winner, Enrique will be one of the most accomplished managers at this summer’s European Championships.

The last European Championships in 2016 didn’t go so well for Spain either as they were knocked out at the last 16 stage by Italy. They are due a better showing at a tournament.

There has been a lot of squad turnover since Spain’s last major tournament. Indeed, the likes of Iniesta, Pique and Ramos aren’t included in this squad. Enrique has tried to bring through a new generation.

Of course, the last major tournament didn’t go so well for Spain. They made the last 16, but lost out to Russia in a penalty shootout. This was after they sacked their manager on the eve of the World Cup.

Speaking of Mendes, here he is off the bench for Portugal. Guerreiro off.

Across the face! Another good chance for Spain as Morata fails to get on the end of a Gaya cross into the middle. That was another solid opportunity for the Juve striker.

Guerreiro is seen as a solid option for Portugal at left back, but the Borussia Dortmund defender has his flaws. He can be defensively vulnerable. Mendes might get some games.

There is some uncertainty over who will start on the left side of the defence for Portugal at the Euros. Mendes is seen as a future superstar, but this tournament might come too soon for him.

Diego Llorente is on for his Spain debut. He replaces Laporte.

Spain, however, have a more favourable group. They have been drawn alongside Poland, Slovakia and Sweden. Anything less than top spot in Group E would be seen as a failure.

Portugal have had the misfortune of landing in the ‘Group of Death’ at Euro 2020. Group F also contains France, Germany and Hungary. They’ll have a job on their hands to make the last 16!

Another change for Spain as Fabian comes off for Koke.

It's quite clear that the tempo has been sucked out of this game. The first half was competitive and played at a good intensity, but that has changed since the subs.

PICTURE: Still waiting for a goal

The emergence of Pedri was massive for Barcelona this season and it could be significant for Spain as well. The teenage playmaker will give Enrique more creativity to play with.

Portugal will rely on Cancelo to get them up the pitch down the right side. The 27-year-old has had a good season with Manchester City and will want to carry that form into the Euros. They’ve missed him tonight.

Ronaldo heads wide! That was a good chance for the Juventus forward as he got in front of his man for a cross in from the right, but he glances wide of the far post!

It’s not yet clear who will lead the line for Spain at the Euros, but Moreno is most peoples’ favourites to claim the number one jersey. He’s been in excellent form for Villarreal.

Morata shoots wide! Good play from Morata to get past his man and surge to the edge of the penalty box, but his strike is once again a poor one. Nothing clean in front of goal.

Torres has such an excellent season for Villarreal, helping the club to Europa League glory. The central defender has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United this summer. He played well here.

Yikes! Simon gets away with another one. Some fancy footwork from the Spain goalkeeper inside his own six yard box. Had he lost that it was a certain goal for Portugal.

... and Pau Torres is off for Garcia, who only just signed for Barcelona this week.

... Busquets is also being given a rest and he'll be replaced by Rodri...

Triple change for Spain. Thiago comes off for Pedri...

PICTURE: Ronaldo is warming to the task

Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal

Headed over! Ronaldo drives to the byline with the ball at his feet, his cross into the middle is a good one, but Jota could only head over the crossbar under pressure. Good chance!

... and Oliviera comes off to be replaced by Fernandes. Will he make a difference?

Two changes for Portugal here. Pepe comes off to be replaced by Carvalho...

SANABRIA... over! That's Spain's best chance of the match so far! Pepe gets caught by Llorente at the byline, his cut back to Sanabria is a good one, but he somehow scoops over the bar!

Jota could be an important player for Portugal at Euro 2020. The forward has enjoyed an impressive first season at Liverpool and has shone in a number of matches for Portugal of late.

Double chance! Oh dear! Morata should have done better with both of those chances. First, his scuffed shot is blocked. And then he sends another scuffed effort wide of the near post.

It must be said that Simon doesn't look too comfortable for Spain with the ball at his feet. Enrique wants his team to play out from the back, but is the Athletic Club keeper good enough?

Bit wild! That wasn't the best of clearances from Laporte who gives away a corner kick with a wild right footed clearance. Spain survive, though, and come away with the ball.

PICTURE: Felix taken off at the break

Joao Felix, Portugal

It was pretty even between these two teams in the first half, although Spain certainly saw more of the ball. Portugal, however, carried a genuine threat on the counter attack.

Felix is a more comfortable fit for this Portugal side than he is for Atletico Madrid. The young attacker has struggled to find the right role at club level, but he has freedom for Portugal. Struggled tonight, though.

Santos has made a change to his Portugal team at the start of the second half and Pedro is on for Felix.

The second half is under way! It's still goalless between Spain and Portugal in this friendly.

HALF TIME: Spain 0-0 Portugal. No goals at the half time interval, although Portugal had a Fonte header chalked off for a foul. Not a great deal of attacking quality so far.

PICTURE: No goals so far

Strike over! The space opened up for Semedo 20 yards out from goal, but the Wolves full back shoots well over the bar. Ronaldo doesn't look too happy with that effort.

De Gea is also an option for Enrique, but the Manchester United goalkeeper has also been shaky this season. Not to mention he’s worth than useful in a penalty shootout!

There is some uncertainty over who will start in goals for Spain at Euro 2020. Simon has been favoured by Enrique, but the Athletic Club goalkeeper has made some mistakes recently.

Chance for Ronaldo! Sanches comes surging forward, Spain make a bit of a mess of it and Ronaldo rebounds a clearance into the arms of Simon, who got a bit lucky there!

That just shows the strength in depth that Spain have. Players like Asensio and Ramps have been left out of the squad. Enrique certainly has options. They could win the whole tournament.

It wasn’t just Ramos that was omitted from the Spain squad for Euro 2020. Enrique didn’t pick a single Real Madrid player to his 24-man squad. That caused some headlines, for sure.

Enrique made a big call by leaving Sergio Ramos out of his squad for the European Championships. The veteran centre back hasn’t played much this season due to injury.

Replays show that Torres should have done better with that scoring opportunity. The Manchester City attacker should have gone back across goal with his header.

Chance for Torres! He has been Spain's best goal threat so far and Torres comes close to opening the scoring, but could only head wide of the near post from a Morata cross.

PICTURE: A good contest so far

Pau Torres (Spain) against Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

Laporte's decision to swap France for Spain was a big boost to the latter's chances at these Euros, although Enrique won't have much time to integrate him into the team.

That disallowed goal was a let off for Spain. Portugal worked the corner kick well and Fonte got up well to get on the end of the cross. But he had his arms on the defender.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... NO! Fonte gets up highest to head back across goal and into the far corner of the net, but the referee has blown for a push. Foul awarded to Spain!

Good run from Sanches through the middle of the pitch, but the former Bayern Munich midfielder takes on a bit too much and is ultimately knocked off the ball. Encouraging for Portugal.

Dias has enjoyed an excellent season for Manchester City and he will be a key figure for Portugal at Euro 2020. His emergence is one of the reasons why Portugal are contenders.

No sign of Dias for Portugal this evening either. The Manchester City centre back has been given some extra rest after playing in last weekend's Champions League final.

PICTURE: Portugal's main man

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

Spain have had a massive 75% of possession in these opening 20 minutes or so. They have been dominant in the opening stages, although Portugal are inviting pressure on top of themselves.

No sign of Fernandes for Portugal this evening. The Manchester United midfielder is out with a minor injury, but he's not expected to be a doubt for the start of the Euros.

This is a Portugal side with a lot of quality. Ronaldo is still the main man in attack, the man who sets the tone for everyone around him, but he’s supported by Fernandes and more.

Ronaldo is already unhappy with the way his teammates are playing. He clearly thinks Portugal have made a poor start to this match and he wants to see more from them.

What a season Llorente has had for Atletico Madrid. He was key to their title triumph and will almost certainly play an important role for Spain at these European Championships.

One-two! Great passing move from the Spanish attack inside the Portuguese penalty area, but the cut-back from Llorente couldn't find someone in the middle. Good idea!

Spain have started on the front foot. They are the ones looking to take the game to the opposition, although Portugal will be quite content with how they are restricting Spain.

Good tackle! Torres has started brightly here, he drives towards the edge of the Portugal penalty area, but Fonte stands his ground and makes the well-timed slide tackle!

Portugal come into the Euros as the defending champions having triumphed in France five years ago. The thing about Santos’ team is that they look even stronger than they were then!

Early chance! Torres gets down the right side to the byline, but his cut back into the box is cut out by the Portuguese defence. A decent opportunity for Spain early on here.

What sort of match will we get this evening? Of course, Euro 2020 kicks off a week today and both these national teams will be aiming to get their hands on the trophy at the end of it all.

The match is under way! It's Spain against Portugal in this pre-Euro 2020 international friendly!

Okay, here we go. We are about to get under way at the Wanda Metropolitano. Kick off coming up shortly.

It's at this point that managers fine tune their teams ahead of a major tournament. Not much more time for experimentation!

Not long until kick off at the Wanda Metropolitano. As international friendlies go, this could be a decent one!

Tonight's setting!

Ronaldo is back in the Spanish capital this evening and he will lead a pretty strong Portugal team that is looking to defend their European title at Euro 2020. They are in good shape!

I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twitter ahead of the match to let me know your thoughts. How much should we read into warm-up games like this one? Tweet me - @grahamruthven!

Experiment! It's an interesting front three from Enrique this evening with Morata flanked by Ferran Torres and Sanabria, who some people think is lucky to be in the Spain squad for the Euros.
