Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has admitted Fabio Capello could still lose his job as coach, despite having led the club to their first Liga title in four years in his first season in charge.

The Italian arrived in Madrid last summer with the club in disarray after hiring and firing five managers in the space of three seasons, and his future at Bernabeu looked bleak when the club crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Bayern Munich, with one newspaper demanding on their front page he be taken to the borders and thrown out of Spain.
Since then, a remarkable run of form saw them overtake Barcelona down the final stretch and capture their 30th Spanish championship, though it seems not even this may be enough to keep him in his job.
"We have to wait on the report from the sporting department of the club," Calderon explained.
"They will make recommendations as to whether Capello should stay on as coach or not. We will decide next Monday or Tuesday."
Sporting director Predrag Mijatovic is likely to hold the final say over whether Capello will continue. Getafe boss Bernd Schuster, who has done everything short of banging on the gates of the Bernabeu to be allowed take over at Real, has widely been regarded as favourite should Capello be shown the door, though Calderon also admitted other managers had been discussed, including Arsene Wenger.
"According to Mijatovic we cannot talk to anyone who has a contract, but if we need a new coach and Schuster sorts things out with Getafe then I imagine Mijatovic will look at him.
"But Mijatovic has also talked to me about [Ronald] Koeman, [Michael] Laudrup and [Arsene] Wenger."
Calderon admitted that the situation of a coach being sacked after winning the league in his first season was an unusual one, though still failed to offer any guarantees himself on his job security.
"It isn't normal that within 24 hours of winning the title people are talking about the future of the coach," he said. "I can't imagine say Liverpool doing the same if they had won the league.
"I can't remember a golfer or tennis player being criticised for playing badly after winning a tournament. It is rather sad."
