Even by Lionel Messi's incredibly high standards, the Argentine's opener against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final was a truly remarkable goal... and the internet knew it.

Starting out on the right flank, near the halfway line, Messi dribbled past five Athletic Bilbao players before lashing a low finish in at the near post from 10 yards out.
That opener swung the game in Barcelona's favour as they went on to win 3-1 thanks to a Neymar stike and another Messi goal 15 minutes from time.
The goal gave Barcelona a record 27th Copa del Rey win but all people could talk about was what Messi had done.
Although there was a suggestion that not absolutely everyone was so impressed with it.
With 58 goals now this season all that remains for Messi to do is score the winner in next weekend's Champions League final to complete the treble for Barcelona.
