Kyle Walker revelled in his goalscoring contribution when Manchester City beat Burton 9-0 on Wednesday night.

The League Cup semi-final first leg was at times painful to watch, with holders City demolishing a club two leagues and 52 places below them in the football ladder.

'Cancel the second leg!' - Fans sympathise for Burton after City hammering

Walker’s goal was City’s eighth overall on the night, and the England defender joked that he now has more goals in 2019 than Cristiano Ronaldo, and more League Cup goals than Lionel Messi.

Maybe Walker’s the real GOAT?

The ruthless display saw Gabriel Jesus score four times, with Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Oleksandr Zinchenko also scoring one along with Walker.

‘Respect’ of sorts, at least according to City boss Pep Guardiola, who said: “It’s the best way to respect the competition and respect the opponents. If you are 4-0 up and forget to continue, you don’t have respect for the competition or your opponent. The best way is do what we have to do.”
