Norwich have that familiar sinking feeling now. Liverpool look hungry to add more goals.

Pukki is left in acres of space on the left side of the box but drags his low shot towards the far post well wide.

STAT: Liverpool have been eliminated from five of their last six League Cup matches against fellow Premier League teams, with their only progression in this run coming on penalties after a 5-5 draw with Arsenal at Anfield in the fourth round in 2019-20.

However, it's looking like that will read five from their last seven unless Norwich can produce something special in the final 15 minutes.

Rupp sizzles just wide of the upright from 20 yards after seizing upon a dreadful pass across the face of his own goal by Robertson.

That second Liverpool goal has really knocked the stuffing out of the hosts. They had seemed to be rising to the challenge but since Origi's header the Reds have looked the more likely.

Andy Robertson appears to be getting ready to come on for Liverpool.

Gordon skews a half volley over the bar after a fine run and cross from Origi on the left.

VIDEO: Origi makes it two.

The Ox marauds towards goal from the right this time and sees a thunderbolt deflect wide of target. Gomez meets the resulting corner but can't guide it on target.

Liverpool's midfield has shuffled slightly since the break. he Ox is playing left forward with Minamino moving to right centre-midfield. Jones is left of midfield. The 18-year-old Morton is operating in a defensive midfield role.

In short, Norwich missed two big chances wither side of HT to level matters and have been duly punished.

Almost three. Origi races into the left side of the area on to Gordon's through pass but guides his shot just wide of the far post.

STAT: Origi becomes only the ninth player in Liverpool’s history to score 10 or more League Cup goals.

Takumi Minamino of Liverpool celebrates after scoring their sides first goal during the Carabao Cup Third Round match between Norwich City and Liverpool at Carrow Road on September 21, 2021 in Norwich, England

Two minutes added.

King Kenny knows...

PENALTY SAVED! Kelleher keeps out Tzolis' spot kick down the middle with his feet and Norwich fail to convert a couple of chances on the rebound.

PENALTY TO NORWICH! Dimitrios Giannoulis is brought down by Bradley after Kelleher could only parry Tzolis' fizzing drive.

Bradley crosses from the right for Origi, but a well-timed block takes all the power out of his strike and Gunn is able to gather.

Superb play from Jones. He looks to be in trouble from Konate's pass in-field, but he stays composed and dribbles away from two before clipping a brilliant pass down the right flank for Gordon to chase. The youngster threatens but can't manufacture a chance after surging inside. Norwich eventually clear.

After a dominant start from the visitors, Norwich have slowly grown into this and have had some joy down that left side in particular.

Dimitrios Giannoulis motors down the left dangerously. His cut back is touched to Adam Idah who hits a tame shot from 16 yards straight at Kelleher.

The Ox needs treatment for a knock to the head and it gives Klopp a chance to give call Gordon over and offer some instruction.

Elsewhere in the cup tonight, Wycombe lead at Man City!

Tzolis escapes down the left once more but his cross is fired straight at Kelleher. He had men to aim for in the middle too.

Liverpool are edging the possession with 55 per cent of the ball. The visitors have had five shots to Norwich's one. The only strike on target so far resulted in Minamino's goal.

Gordon jinks in from the right and rifles a low drive just wide of the near post. That's a cameo of his exciting potential right there.

HOPE FOR THE HOSTS? Norwich City have won their last eight home League Cup matches, scoring at least three goals in every victory and 34 goals in total. However, only one of those wins has come against Premier League opposition, beating West Brom 3-0 in September 2015.

VIDEO: Minamino opens the scoring.

Norwich win a free kick 25 yards out. Gilmour steps up but curls it well over the bar.

DID YOU KNOW? Liverpool have won 16 of their 34 visits to Norwich in all competitions, losing nine and drawing nine. The Merseysiders have now scored the opening goal in each of their last 16 meetings with the Canaries.

Takumi Minamino, Norwich City-Liverpool, Carabao Cup

Grant Hanley flicks away Tsimikas' dangerous right-wing free kick. Liverpool almost make it two from the resulting corner as Konate rises well but thumps a header over the bar.

STAT: That was Minamino's first Liverpool goal since December 19, 2020 when the Reds won 7-0 at Crystal Palace in the PL.

STAT: Norwich are winless in 15 matches against Liverpool (D2 L13) - all Premier League games between 1995 and 2021.

Norwich look to respond immediately but Christos Tzolis' low ball from the left has too much zip on it after Gilmour had set him free with a lovely through pass.

GOAL! Minamino swivels on to Origi's knockdown and drills the ball through Gunn's legs after Norwich failed to deal with a left-wing corner.

Norwich aren't left ruing the concession of the corner as Liverpool can't make anything of it.

Gunn comes charging to the very left edge of his box to try and collect a ball in-behind, but Gibson doesn't want to take any chances and charges across to nod behind.

H2H: Liverpool have won their two previous League Cup ties with Norwich. The Merseysiders triumphed 3-1 in the 1979-80 quarter-final and then by a 2-0 scoreline in the fourth round in 1982-83. The Reds went on to lift the trophy that year.

  • 1st Half

KICK OFF! Norwich get this cup tie up and running.

A minute of applause is now taking place in tribute to the late, great Jimmy Greaves.

Mansfield's 23-year-old defender Kellan Gordon is in the stands supporting his younger brother.

Meanwhile, Klopp has waxed lyrical about the teenager in his pre-match media duties:

" A big talent, no doubt about that! I'm really excited to give him the opportunity tonight. He is a really good player, you will see that immediately.""

CAN THE CANARIES CONJURE UP CUP FORM? Norwich's 6-0 win over Bournemouth in the second round was their joint-biggest League Cup win, equalling their 7-1 victory over Halifax Town in November 1963. Christos Tzolis and Joshua Sargent both snared dubles on their debuts in the competition.

DID YOU KNOW? Divock Origi has netted more goals in this competition for Liverpool than any other player in the current squad. He has scored nine times in just 13 games. His last Reds goal came in the win at Lincoln in this round last year. If he scores this evening the Belgian would become only the ninth player in Liverpool’s history to score 10 or more League Cup goals.

Divock Origi celebrates scoring his team's fourth goal with Liverpool's English striker Rhian Brewster during the English League Cup fourth round football match between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield in Liverpool, north west England on October 30, 2019

A rare piece of good news for Derby at the moment.

Liverpool keeper, Caoimhin Kelleher: "For youngsters, it's a big competition for us as we know we'll get opportunities and game time. It's everything for us if we're involved and we want to win and give 100 per cent when we get the opportunity to show that we're good enough and capable to play in more games. We're really looking forward to it. A Carabao Cup round-three game is probably to the public not the biggest of games, but to me it was probably the biggest game of my life and a big moment for me. The competition for us players, and when you get the chance to play, is really exciting."

Caoimhin Kelleher impressed for Liverpool

Daniel Farke: “One thing we have to do is that we need to defend our own goal better. If we concede three goals per game, as an average, we can’t win anything on this level. You can argue we were also a bit unlucky and about the quality of the opponents, but the fact is we have conceded too many goals. We have to improve on this, and this is our main topic.”

Arsenal and Norwich

Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders on Takumi Minamino: “Taki had a really good pre-season and I think it was really important for him after going to Southampton (on loan), which was a good decision at that time. He came back and had a complete, full pre-season with us training-wise. He made an impact in pre-season, we were really enthusiastic about him. Then he had a small issue, with the national team, but he’s back now. He was not 100 per cent fit because he came back early, but now he is good to go and we are really happy that he’s part of our team.”

Takumi Minamino (L) celebrates

Liverpool make nine changes from the PL win over Palace. Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas are the only two to retain their places in the starting XI. The big news sees Kaide Gordon become the fifth-youngest player in Liverpool’s history. He makes his debut along with Conor Bradley. Joe Gomez skippers the side.
