Ronaldo and Carvajal exchange passes down the right side, but the winger can't latch on to Carvajal's through ball, which was slightly too strong, and Tyton can come out and gather.

This has been a good display from the Real Madrid defence too. Varane and Pepe aren't the first choice centre back pairing, but they have been rarely troubled by what Elche have thrown at them.

Benzema should have done better with that opportunity. Great play from Isco slots through the French striker, but he tries too much with the backheel when he should have taken the shot himself!

Is Casillas getting a little bit bored? The Real Madrid keeper, not for the first tme tonight, makes a dodgy pass out to his defenders, but Jonathas can't make the most of the chance.

As far as La Liga debuts go, that wasn't too bad from Silva. He has enjoyed two very effective first starts for Real Madrid, so can he force his way into their first choice midfield?

Looks like Ancelotti is preparing to make a change, with Illarramendi getting ready to enter the game. Will that mean Lucas is the one to come off for the young Spanish midfielder?

After the Champions League win over Shalcke during the week, this has been a good response from Real Madrid. They have looked weary at times but have been comfortable for the most part.

Elche sub: Adrian Gonzalez OFF, Cristian Herrera ON.

Although he hasn't made the most of his opportunities in front of goal, Benzema has been excellent for Real Madrid this evening. His all round game has really improved under Ancelotti.

That was an opportunity for Real Madrid to add a third goal tonight! Benzema crosses a dangerous ball into the box, with the clearance only making it to the edge of the area, but Kroos shoots over.

Elche sub: Mario Pasalic OFF, Rafael Galvez ON.

Isco is a magical player at times. Is there a player in world football with a better touch than the little playmaker? I'm not sure even Lionel Messi can measure up to him! That's how good he is.

Ronaldo has been roughed up a bit by the Elche defenders tonight, but he has responded well in the last few minutes. He has the look of someone who wants a second goal as well.

That was fizzed just past the post! Ronaldo fires a low freekick towards goal from the edge of the box, with the Elche wall parting, but his effort flashes just past the post. Tyton was beaten.
