Real Madrid have the chance to sling a few corner kicks into the Valencia penalty area, but Modric doesn't make the most of the opportunities and the home side defend them well.

Modric has been excellent for Real Madrid tonight, and with Kovacic now off the pitch he's the one pulling the strings in the centre of the pitch. He's the key man for the final 10 minutes.

The thing about Kovacic was that he had been arguably the best player on the pitch until he was shown a straight red card. He had given Real Madrid some much needed mobility.
