Marcelo has backed Cristiano Ronaldo to continue his record run for Real Madrid after yet another goal on Wednesday night.

Ronaldo scored late on against Athletic Bilbao to rescue a point for his side, and has now matched his best ever scoring run for Real having netted in his past 12 games.

Incredibly, he has scored 22 goals in those 12 games to propel him to within five goals of Pichichi leader Lionel Messi, who has 29 goals in La Liga.

Marcelo expects Ronaldo’s record run to continue – even if their next game is a daunting trip to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

"He's the best player in the world. We have absolute confidence in him, as we do in all our players," Marcelo.

I'm sure he's going to net more in more games and extend his 12-match scoring run.
