Samuel Umtiti signs five-year Barcelona contract

Barcelona have confirmed that centre-back Samuel Umtiti has signed a new contract with the club that will keep him at the Camp Nou until 2023.

Umtiti, 24, joined Barcelona in the summer of 2016 from Lyon for a fee of €25 million.
He signed a five-year contract but his original deal contained a release clause of €50 million.
That relatively low release clause had seen him linked with a move away, with Manchester United and Manchester City mentioned.
However, he has committed his future to the team and there is no mention of what his new release clause is in the press release from Barcelona.

There will be a press conference on Monday however where the subject will inevitably be discussed.
Umtiti is currently with the France squad ahead of the World Cup and scored the opening goal in Friday's 3-1 friendly victory over Italy.
