FULL TIME! There goes the final whistle, and in fairness a point apiece is a fair result.

Madrid didn't do enough to seal victory and it's another very good showing from Leganes, who stretch their unbeaten run to four games.

Karim Benzema cancelled out Jonathan Silva's opener, ansd that's how it's stayed.

The fourth official indicates a minumum of three minutes of stoppage time.

SAVE! Strong hands from Cuellar now to deny Marcelo on the break as after Vazquez lays the ball off to Benzema, the striker shows brilliant feet to flick the ball away from Nyom and into the Brazilian's path, but Marcelo's left-foot drive is parried to safety!

NO GOAL! Martin Braithwaite doesn't even break into celebration as he can see the offside flag has alrerady gone up, and despite a nice finish, this isn't going to stand.

He had gone just a second too soon to meet the pass from Nyon, and the goal is correctly chalked off.

CHANCE! Madrid come so close to completing the turnaround as Cuellar does really well to shut off the angle and deny Asensio from Benzema's pass!

The opportunity came just after Braithwaite felt he had been brought down by Casemiro when attempting to run clear on goal but the referee was in a good position.

SAVE! For the first time in the match, Dani Carvajal's ball is on the money as it reaches Asensio at the front post, and he manages to flick his shot cutely around the corner, but not beyond Cuellar!

En Nesyri is then denied the perfect first touch as Varane gets to Nyom's cross just before the Leganes substitute. This is end to end at the moment.

SAVE! Silva is in the mood today as he gets forward once more on the left to meet the cross from Nyom, but there's not enough power on the effort, and it's comfortable for Navas to gather.

Madrid are on top now as Isco is fouled once more by Bustinza. I'm not sure hiow he's avoided a yellow card so far.

WIDE! Asensio works the ball nicely to the left, and after Modric finds Isco, the shot from 25 yards doesn't trouble Cuellar.

Carvajal isn't happy with Siovas for leaving his studs on him in the challenge as the Leganes man clears his lines.

GOAL! Leganes duly go down the other end and take the lead right on the stroke of half-time!

It's another long throw that Madrid fail to deal with, and after Martin Braithwaite's works the ball to the edge of the box, it's the full-back Jonathan Silva who strokes his 18-yard shot to Navas' right into the net!

44'
Real Madrid

SAVE! This time, Zinedine Zidane will be scratching his head wondering how his side aren't infront.

The long ball is worked into the box by Marcelo, and after it deflects off Benzema, Varane's shot from close range is saved by the legs of Cuellar.

The referee belatedly blows his whistle for a foul from Benzema, so that goal wouldn't have stood.

42'

FOUL! Madrid are handed a good opportunity to break the deadlock after Bustinza brings down Benzema on the edge of the box.

OVER! It's Isco himself who winds up the free-kick, but he can'ty keep his effort down, with the ball always rising over Cuellar's crossbar.

39'

NO PENALTY! Medié Jiménez is not listening to the appeals as Bustinza throws himself to the ground under a careless leg from Isco. The Leganes man may have got there first, right on the line of the penalty box, but there's not enough contact for that to be a penalty.

38'

OVER! That effort sums up how this game has disintegrated very quickly, and despite Modric's best efforts to sprinkle this end-of-season affair with some stardust, his pass into Asensio's feet results in his team-mate's shot from 25 yards out going into orbit.

36'

It's all been a bit one-paced so far and at times a training match as slow play allows one side the chance to regain possession from the other.

Modric tries to inject some urgency with a fine pass out to Benzema, but after he cuts inisde on the right, Siovas is able to halt his progress.

32'
Real Madrid

As another Carvajal cross is played disastrously out for a Leganes goal kick, here's a look at Real Madrid's best chance of the half so far, which fell to Marco Asensio...

Marco Asensio
30'
CD Leganés

Madrid have enjoyed 70 per cent possession so far but it's been a very even opening 30 minutes, with both sides having had two shots apiece.

Another dangerous delivery from Eraso misses everyone as the ball hits Marcelo's back before Casemiro clears. Braithwaite did throw himself to the ground there, but the referee does not refer to VAR, deeming no foul inside the box took place.

Carvajal did have a handful of the Middlesbrough loanee's shirt, so perhaps Madrid are a little fortunate there.

25'
Real Madrid

Siovas has to be fully alert to follow Modric's silky run off the ball as the Croat plays a one-two with Isco before the Leganes defender clears the danger.

Bustinza winds up another long throw moments later, and Nacho allows it to bounce inside his own half after hearing a call from Varane and Marcelo completes the clearance.

21'

Leganes are certainly not settling for sitting 10 bodies behind the ball with the full-backs getting forward at will. The latest attack however sees Nyom's deep crossed watched all the way into his gloves by Navas.

WIDE! Just prior to that, though, the Madrid defence were static as Javier Eraso glanced a header wide!

15'
CD Leganés

It's a lovely skyline incidentally.

CHANCE!! What a glorious opportunity for the hosts. Bustinza's long free-kick is headed back across goal by Dimitrios Siovas, and his strike partner Martin Braithwaite is just five yards out, but he can only direct his header past Navas' right-hand post!

Leganes Real Madrid
8'

CHANCE! Real Madrid have the first opening, and Marco Asensio really should score. His late run into the box is found by Isco, but his left-foot shot is tame and easy for Cuellar to gather to his left.

Moments later, Bustinza is forced to head over from underneath his own crossbar from Carvajal's cross.

7'

Bustinza's long throw from the right is cleared initially by Varane, and completed by Marcelo and the ball is exquisitely taken down on the chest by Benzema as Real are able to regain possession.

A good challenge from Eraso on Valverde ends the attack, and it has been a cagey start at the Butarque.

5'

Valverde has looked very composed on the ball in these early stages, and he works it from one isde of the pitch to the other to bring Carvajal into play.

After a quick interchange with Asensio, the full-back gets his cross all wrong, and it drifts harmlessly over the head of Cuellar and out of play.

3'

Strong start from the hosts as Bustinza works the ball well down the right to Vesga before Marcelo is able to stop the cross and Isco is fouled by Perez. A nice early reducer from the Leganes midfielder.

KICK OFF!

Real Madrid in all red this evening get us up and running. The hosts are playing five at the back with Real lining up in a 4-3-3 formation.

Medie Jimenez is tonight's match official and VAR is of course in use.

COUNTDOWN TO KICK OFF!

Real have not lost in their last 17 league games against opponents from the Spanish capital. But Leganes have lost only one of their last six Madrid derbies.

Zidane makes a total of three changes to the side that beat Eibar as Bale, Odriozola and Sergio Reguilon all drop out and are replaced by Marcelo, Carvajal and Casemiro.

It's also noticeable that Thibaut Courtois isn't even named on the bench, with Zidane's son Luca the preferred option as a replacement 'keeper.

Are we destined to find a winner tonight?

HERE COME THE PLAYERS!

It was against Valencia in early April that Real Madrid last tasted defeat, but while Zidane's side look set to end the season without silverware, the coach was also at the helm last season when they were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Leganes.

“That was really hard for me, it was a failure. It was a very painful defeat because after having won the first leg, I didn’t like the manner of our defeat that night,” said Zidane.

“I’m expecting to see opponents that are keen to beat Madrid and a motivated and aggressive side because they’re having a good season.

“They’re playing some good stuff, they’re not just all about aggression and defensive solidity. I’m expecting to see the best of Leganés tomorrow night, that’s why we’re going to have to perform very well if we’re to get the points.”

19.36

VALENCIA CRUSH LEVANTE

Valencia stayed in the hunt for the final Champions League qualifying spot in La Liga with a rampant 3-1 win in a city derby at home to Levante on Sunday.

Scarred by defeat by struggling Rayo Vallecano last weekend yet buoyed by victory in their Europa League quarter-final first leg over Villarreal, Marcelino's side got off to a flying start with a headed goal from Santi Mina in the second minute.

They lost defender Cristiano Piccini to a serious injury later in the first half and Levante equalised against the run of play in the 56th minute when Valencia's Carlos Soler clumsily diverted a corner into his own net.

Valencia's record signing Goncalo Guedes immediately restored the home side's lead down the other end by lashing into the far corner, while Mina scored a tap-in six minutes later to seal the three points.

Valencia are sixth in the standings after 32 games on 49 points, two behind fifth-placed Getafe who drew 2-2 at Valladolid and three back from Sevilla, who occupy fourth spot after beating Real Betis 3-2 on Saturday.

19.32

HOME NOT SWEET FOR GIRONA

Girona have been sucked into the relegation battle, losing 1-0 against Villarreal on Sunday at Montilivi.

The Catalan side, 14th, are only three points above the relegation zone and have won just twice at home all season.

Eusebio Sacristan's side have lost their last four matches - three of them at Montilivi - last winning at home in La Liga back in October versus Rayo Vallecano.

Perhaps fortunately, then, only two of their remaining six matches are on their own ground, although one is a crunch relegation six-pointer with Levante.

19.28

ELSEWHERE IN LA LIGA...

Leaders Barcelona drew 0-0 at Huesca on Saturday and are nine points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who cut the gap by beating Celta Vigo 2-0.

Ernesto Valverde made 10 changes for the trip to Huesca from the team that started against Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Barcelona stumbled to a 0-0 draw against the bottom side but, with a clear advantage at the top of the table, the coach was happy enough with a point.

"The best thing about this match was that Lionel Messi watched it comfortably at home," wrote Diario Sport.

CAN LEGANES SPRING A SURPRISE?

As expected, Javier Eraso starts for the hosts in place of Oscar Rodriguez, who is ineligiable to play against his parent club.

Kenneth Omeruo has shaken off a knock to retain his place, while Youssef En-Nesyri is fit enough to make the bench.

With Real entering the game having won four of their last five games, it's a tough ask for Leganes, but they will be bouyed by two wins and a draw in their last three.

We should see two teams in form tonight.

19.18
Real Madrid

Gareth Bale will have to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench this evening at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque.

The Welshman has endured a frustrating season, and he was booed by his own supporters in the first three minutes of Real's 2-1 win over Eibar last time out.

For the travelling supporters, it is not a surprise he has not been handed a start, but he will have to grasp his opportunity should he come on.
