- GoalManu GarciaDeportivo Alavés
GOAL! Alaves 1-0 Real Madrid - scores - The corner is swung in from the left, Courtois misses the fight, it's headed back across goal - via Courtois' flap - to Garcia who can head into an empty net.
Jony wins a corner off Modric on the left wing. Could this happen?
There has been something of a special match in the Premier League. You should probably get up early for MOTD tomorrow. On the pitch in Spain - nothing.
There will be five minutes of added time. You might as well put me up front, or Maradona, because neither of us would score tonight for Real.
- OffGuillermo MaripanDeportivo Alavés
- OnMartin AguirregabiriaDeportivo Alavés
A change for Alaves.
In the words of Nathan Barley, three minutes left etc?
Jony disposses Odriozola and makes his way into the box, and blazes over with others waiting for a cross.
- OffGareth BaleReal Madrid
- OnVinícius JúniorReal Madrid
Bale off - possibly injured - Vinicius on.
Bale lines up a free kick, and smacks an effort over the wall for the 'keeper to beat away.
Oh my days. Down the inside left Alaves break, Jony getting past Varane, and he drags a shot inches wide of the far post.
It's all Real, but at the same time there is nothing from them.
- OffMubarak WakasoDeportivo Alavés
- OnManu GarciaDeportivo Alavés
Garcia off for Wakaso, who has completed 700 fouls today.
Pacheco is down with an injury in the box. It is, as Shelvey would say, rodding it down.
Why not get Vinicius on now? I mean, yes, Real might grind their way to even a 3-0 win from here, but there's no fun in that.
- OffIbai GómezDeportivo Alavés
- OnRubén SobrinoDeportivo Alavés
Sobrino on for Gomez.
Odriozola is found by Modric, and he has a cross cleared with a few Real shirts lurking. This is going nowhere, Lynn.
No, there's a change to the assistant referee's board, and Casemiro is the one to do one.
- OffCasemiroReal Madrid
- OnMarco AsensioReal Madrid
Another Real sub. Ceballos off, Asensio on.
Duarte bounces in a long range shot that Courtois spills, diving to his left. There's nobody there to close in and put it away.
Courtois claims a looping corner and sets Mariano on his way, who is quickly tackled.
- Yellow cardMubarak WakasoDeportivo Alavés
Wakaso is booked finally, ths time for going in late on Casemiro. Three hacks for a yellow, that's decent value for Alaves.
Casemiro has a dig from distance and his low shot is easily saved. Somebody needs to do something good, at some point.
Mariano takes 300 touches too many in the box and the danger is cleared. At the other end Gomez chests down a cross at the back post before it's hacked away by Nacho.
A cross from Nacho is curled into the near post, and nobody is near it.
Not much going on here, in the words of Ted Maul.
- 2nd Half
The second half gets underway and Mariano replaces Benzema.
- End of 1st Half
That's half time. See you in 15 minutes.
This game has been a real damp squid, which is to say, unremarkable.
Yeah, Benzema is through the middle now, and he runs onto a Modric through ball that the 'keeper runs towards to claim.
Why would you play Benzema on the right wing? Am I missing something? Am I not the tactical genius I believed myself to be?
Real are forced back to defence but still have the ball. My 5-0 prediction is looking a wee bit off at this point.
A corner on the right for Alaves. They are in no hurry to take it. It is football mime, in that it ends when nobody actually touches the hard thing ie the ball.
Casemiro angles a pass over the top for Odriozola's run to the touchline. The full-back launches himself at it, but can't keep it in play.
Varane knocks down a cross Kross after a short corner, but it's hooked away.
Nacho steams into the box down the left, cuts it back, and it's just a touch behind Benzema. Real get it back quickly, but Odriozola puts too much on a cross for Bale.
Bale eyes up a free kick 35 yards out, and drills it straight at a defender's heid. He gets the chance to fling in a cross towards Varane, and that is cleared too.
Wakaso receives a ball in the box after a one-two, and his scuffed shot from a tight angle hits Varane and dribbles to Courtois.
Navarro goes shouder to shoulder with Ramos, with the central defender getting a little nudge. He gets a free kick, and that's that.
Alaves stroke the ball around in defence before hoofing it long to Jony. Jony just misses the ball, with Courtois running right out, and he could have rounded the 'keeper with a little more awareness.
Kroos is caught late by Wakaso, but gets away with his second late one with fewer than 20 minutes on the clock.
Kroos takes the free kick, curling in his cross, and it's headed straight out. Real work it to Benzema to cross on the right, and Bale leaps to meet it at the back post, and it flies over.
Bale is double-teamed on the left and wins a free kick about 40 yards out.
Navarro strides forward down the right wing. He aims a shot at goal, and it loops up off a defender and away for a corner on the right. It's cleared.
Calleri leaves his boot in on Ramos' achilles, and half of Liverpool goes a bit old fuzzy one.
A cross is sent in from the right to the back post from Odriozola, and Benzema heads down towards goal only to see it booted off the line.
Alaves defend two corners in quick succession, and Nacho whips in a cross for Bale to glance just wide of the far post.
Bale brings down a high ball well, backheels to Benzema. The striker clips a pass out wide to Ceballos, who turns onto his right and forces a corner with a low drive to the near post.
Benzema whips a shot at goal from the edge of the box towards goal. Easily stopped.
It's all Real so far.
Bale tries to skip to the touchline and wins throw on the left wing. Real decide to keep possession.
- 1st Half
The match gets underway. Modric gets a bosh in the chest from Wakaso.
We're five minutes from kick off.
I'm going to predict a 5-0 win for Real
The Best Player In The World, Definitely, Luka Modric has his place in central midfield, though Vinicius is the most exciting player in the ground tonight.

Real Madrid have summer signings Thibaut Courtois and Alvaro Odriozola in the starting line up. Otherwise, it's more of the same, minus Cristiano Ronaldo. Vinicius Jr and Mariano are on the bench.
Those looking forward to seeing Pogba in LaLiga may have to wait some time.
After seven games each, Real Madrid and Barcelona have 14 points. That's a much slower start than you might expect, but both the sides are trying to change things up a tad with new players and transfers.
