That was a Messi masterclass. Real Betis just couldn't do anything to stop the great man from putting them to the sword. Suarez also played very well, although his evening had a dampener put on it by an injury right at the end of the match. Barcelona now have a 10 point lead at the top of La Liga!

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Real Betis 1-4 Barcelona
Off the post! Inches away from being a fourth goal for Messi! The pass was played back into the middle from Roberto, Messi controlled it, but then sent his effort on to the woodwork on the stretch.
Just watch this!
Three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
- OffLuis SuárezFC Barcelona
- OnPhilippe CoutinhoFC Barcelona
Coutinho will get a few minutes right at the end off the bench. That will frustrate the Brazilian.
Suarez injury! This is a concern for Barcelona. The striker looked to slip as he chased down a ball and then twisted his ankle. Suarez is still down and is receiving treatment on the sidelines.
- OffIvan RakiticFC Barcelona
- OnCarles AleñaFC Barcelona
Barcelona make a change and Rakitic comes off to be replaced by Alena.
What is there left to say about Messi? Another hat trick for the great man and that goal was the pick of the bunch from tonight's lot. Pau stood no chance. There was nothing he could do.
- GoalLionel MessiFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Betis 1 Barcelona 4 (85 mins - Lionel Messi). There is nothing you can do about that and applause breaks out around the Benito Villamarin. The home fans are literally bowing to Messi! He managed to clip a chipped finish over Pau, in off the underside of the bar, from 16 yards out. What a ridiculous goal.
- GoalLoren MorónReal Betis
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Betis 1 (82 mins - Loren Moron) Barcelona 3. That's a lovely finish from Loren, who bends a finish into the back of the Barcelona net from the edge of the penalty box, but it will surely matter little. The Catalans are out of sight and that will merely be a consolation goal for the home side.
Barcelona are cruising through this game now. Three goals to the good with fewer than 10 minutes remaining against a team who have been toothless all night long, they have nothing to worry about.
Funny! That was an amusing moment. Suarez heard appeals from the crowd for a handball and joined him! But the Real Betis fans were calling for a handball against Semedo!
PICTURE: Suarez and Messi doing Suarez and Messi things.
Penalty claim! Suarez believes that there was a handball in the penalty box from Bartra, but the referee waves away the Barcelona striker's claims and then VAR backs up that decision.
Lainez has shown some lovely touches since coming off the bench for Real Betis. The young Mexican is highly rated at the Benito Villamarin and he's using this chance to show why.
This result will put Barcelona 10 points clear at the top of the Liga table after Atletico Madrid's defeat yesterday. Will that effectively put an end to the title race in Spain this season?
- OffWilliam CarvalhoReal Betis
- OnLoren MorónReal Betis
A third and final change for the home side and Carvalho comes off to be replaced by Loren.
This will be a long 20 minute spell for Real Betis. The tempo and intensity of their game has dropped significantly since the third Barcelona goal. It feels like they are just waiting for the whistle now.
- OffGiovani Lo CelsoReal Betis
- OnDiego LainezReal Betis
Real Betis make a second change and the highly rated Mexican teenager is coming on.
PICTURE: This was the Suarez assist for Messi's second goal.
Real Betis also make a change of their own with Kaptoum coming on for the final 20 minutes.
- Yellow cardNélson SemedoFC Barcelona
DIVE! He's only been on the pitch for a matter of seconds and Semedo has been booked for diving. He was touched by Pau, but the fall from the Portuguese full back was delayed.
- OffArthurFC Barcelona
- OnNélson SemedoFC Barcelona
Barcelona make a change after that third goal and Semedo comes on for the final 25 minutes.
That's essentially game over now. Real Betis have had chances of their own, but there is no way back for them from 3-0 down. Messi and Suarez have put them to the sword tonight.
- GoalLuis SuárezFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Betis 0 Barcelona 3 (63 mins - Luis Suarez). Incredible from Suarez! What a goal that is from the striker! Suarez picked up the ball 40 yards out and he just kept running and running, skipping past two defenders before sliding a finish Pau and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. Wow.
How many chances will Suarez spurn? It's another missed opportunity from the Barcelona striker. Ter Stegen's long kick upfield was misjudged by Mandi, but Suarez, clean through, put his shot wide of the far post.
How did he miss?! That should have been a third goal for Barcelona. Messi played a wonderful pass around the corner for Suarez, who rounded the goalkeeper, but from a tight angle played the shot across the face of goal.
This is all a bit slow from Real Betis. They need to up the tempo and pace of their game. Barcelona are quite content just sitting off the home side and plugging the gaps off the ball.
PICTURE: Messi celebrates his stunning freekick opener.
There is space for Real Betis to exploit in behind the Barcelona defence, which is keeping quite a high line, but the difficulty for them has been taking those chances when they have come.
Flag spares his blushes! Wow, Canales made a mess of that. He was played in behind, but the Real Betis man got caught in about four different minds and misses the ball. He was offside, anyway.
Will Setien make some changes to his team soon? Valverde has options on the bench. Could the Barcelona boss inject some pace by throwing on Malcom for the final stages of the game?
Into the wall! That was an opportunity for Canales to at least test Ter Stegen, but the freekick from the Spanish international was straight into the Barcelona wall. Not good enough.
- Yellow cardClément LengletFC Barcelona
Lenglet is shown the yellow card for bringing down Joaquin right on the edge of the box.
Suarez has played really well so far for Barcelona. He's so unique in the way he leads the line for the Catalans. Replacing him in a few years is going to be soooooooo difficult.
PICTURE: Barcelona celebrate being really, really good.
Chance for a third! Barcelona were guilty of overplaying there. Vidal played the pass to Suarez, who should have taken on the shot. But he attempted to play a cushioned pass to Messi instead.
Setien will surely want his team to be more proactive in the final third of the pitch in this second half. Real Betis played some nice stuff in the first half, but were toothless in attack.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Real Betis 0-2 Barcelona. The hosts have seen plenty of the ball and have had chances to find the net, but the difference between the two sides at the break is the magic of Messi. This match might be over already.
- GoalLionel MessiFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Betis 0 Barcelona 2 (46 mins - Lionel Messi). Another wonderful, wonderful goal from Barcelona and it's that man again. They cut open Real Betis, with Suarez playing a reverse pass into Messi, who clipped a first time finish past Pau and into the back of the opposition net. Excellent.
Just one minute of stoppage time to be played at the end of the first half.
Barcelona haven't been great in this first half, but they haven't really looked like conceding and they have created the better scoring opportunities. Real Betis have been toothless.
Real Betis are looking to crank up the tempo and intensity of their play as they search for an equaliser before the half time break. They need to be more ruthless in the final third.
Suarez... deflected wide! That was typical Suarez. He barged his way through two Real Betis defenders before getting the shot away from a tight angle, but it's deflected wide of the near post.
Suarez fluffed his lines! That should have been a second Barcelona goal. Ter Stegen found Alba with a stunning pass, he passed into the middle for Messi, who set up Suarez, but he scuffed his shot straight at Pau.
Clash of heads! A break in play right now as Pique and Mandi hit the ground after clashing heads as they went for the same ball. It looks like they will be fine to continue, though.
Great defensive header by Pique. The Barcelona centre back has been one of the players of the season so far in Spain. If it wasn't for another one of his teammates, he'd be the star.
Jese just wide! First, it was Tello who had a cut back from the byline stopped. Then it was Jese who got the shot away, beat Ter Stegen, but stuck the ball wide of the far post with a low effort.
There is a certain openness to this game. There is space for both teams to exploit on the rapid attack and that is resulting in a match that is flowing from one end to the other, quickly.
Lucky! Should Guardado have been shown a second yellow card there? He went in late on Messi and took out the Barcelona number 10. Surely that should have been a second booking?
Real Betis have, on the whole, probably been the better team in the opening 30 minutes of this match, but they have been let down by a lack of finishing instinct in front of goal.
Messi believes that he was fouled by Sidnei and he might well have a case. The Brazilian drives into the box, gets the shot away, but it picks up a deflection and flashes over.
This has been a hugely entertaining opening 30 minutes to this match. Real Betis look dangerous in attack, but their passing play around the defence and midfield is so risky.
Across the face! Tello drives to the byline and gets a low cross into the box. There was panic in the Barcelona defence as the ball flashed across the face of goal, but a tackle was made on Joaquin at the back post.
MESSI... saved! It's another freekick from the Barcelona number 10, but this time Pau makes the save and holds on to it. Messi went for the opposite side of the Real Betis goal, that time.
What a pass! Vidal saw the run of Roberto and played it over the top for the Barcelona right back to run on to. Roberto was in behind, but his first touch off his chest let him down.
These are two very technical teams, but some of the passing from Real Betis and Barcelona in the opening 25 minutes of this match has been wild. Busquets has been especially loose!
Joaquin is the one trying to play the balls in behind for Tello and Jese to run on to. The veteran still has that vision, even if he's not as mobile as he once was in his peak years.
Can Real Betis pick themselves up after losing that opening goal? Their passing pay has been good to watch, although they have only created one real scoring opportunity so far.
That's harsh on Real Betis. They had started the game the better of the two teams, but that's the danger of facing someone like Messi. He can come up with something at any moment.
- GoalLionel MessiFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Betis 0 Barcelona 1 (18 mins - Lionel Messi). My goodness. What a strike from Messi. Even for the Barcelona number 10, the freekick looked to be a little close, but the Argentinean bent the shot into the top, left-hand corner of the Real Betis net. What a way to break the deadlock. Pau stood no chance.
- Yellow cardAndrés GuardadoReal Betis
The first booking of the game is for Guardado who barged into the back of Rakitic as he went for a header.
Bartra is doing quite well to keep Suarez quiet. Many still believe that the centre back shouldn't have been sold by Barcelona and indeed, he has become a key figure for Real Betis.
Every so often Real Betis make a slack pass and Barcelona are given an opportunity. But the Catalans have so far failed to make the most of those chances and it's the hosts on top.
What a chance! That probably should have been the opener for Real Betis. Joaquin played a diagonal ball to the byline for Tello to cut back for Jese, but he couldn't quite connect on the stretch.
Tello on target! The former Barcelona winger cuts inside off the left wing and gets the right-footed shot off on goal, but it was tame and straight at Ter Stegen, who saves with ease.
Real Betis are forcing Ter Stegen to kick the ball long when it is played back to him. The hosts are right on top of the German goalkeeper and he doesn't look too comfortable, it must be said.
Barcelona are really struggling to find their passing flow early on in this game and it's not often that you say that. The Spanish champions look pretty edgy across the defensive line.
This shape from Barcelona is interesting. Vidal is playing as part of the front three when the Catalans have the ball, but he slips back into midfield when Barca are on the other side of possession.
Tello was in behind! What a pass that was from Lo Celso to get the former Barcelona winger in behind, but Roberto got a toe on the ball in the slide tackle. He had to get there.
Lo Celso is dropping deep to pick up the ball and drive it forward. The Argentinean is one of the players Real Betis have who can cause real damage against the Liga table toppers.
That was a dodgy kick out by Ter Stegen! The German goalkeeper's pass forward was flat and had Real Betis had more players alert in the middle they would have had an opportunity.
Real Betis have made a decent start to this match. Barcelona were ordinarily expect to dominate possession regardless of who they are up against, but Betis are just as good on the ball.
It's bouncing at the Benito Villamarin. Real Betis are just four points outside the top six in the Liga table, so a win here this afternoon could prove crucial in their quest for European football.
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Real Betis against Barcelona in this La Liga fixture.
Okay, here we go. About to get started in Seville. Kick off is just moments away. What an atmosphere.
Barcelona looked to be running out of steam a few weeks ago, but they have picked up their form in recent games.
Not long until kick off at the Benito Villamarin now. This could be one of the games of the weekend.
On course for a Treble? It would take an almighty collapse from this point for Barcelona not to win La Liga and they are in the final of the Copa del Rey and are still in the Champions League.
Advantage! Atletico Madrid's defeat to Athletic Club yesterday means that Barcelona can go a massive 10 points clear at the top of the Liga table with a win over Real Betis this evening.
I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twitter ahead of the game to let me know your thoughts. Can Real Betis cause Barcelona problems this evening? Tweet me!
Coutinho back on the bench! The Brazilian playmaker had been given a run in the Barcelona team recently, but he's back on the bench after failing to make the most of the opportunity.
