What an effort that was from Huesca in the second half. They really went for it and you can see the relief on the faces of the Real Madrid players at the sound of the full time whistle. This result will take them up to fourth place in the Liga table, but man, they were made to work for the win.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Huesca 0-1 Real Madrid
Courtois almost caught out! The Real Madrid goalkeeper was expecting a cross into the box from the freekick, but Gomez sent the ball towards goal and Courtois tips over after back pedalling.
The bare minimum of time has been added on at the end of the match and that didn't please the home supporters when it was announced. Is there one last chance for Huesca?
There will be just two minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
This performance has been a marked improvement from Huesca, but as things stand the basement side in La Liga are going to come away with nothing to show for their efforts.
Cucho! Over the bar! The cross comes into the Real Madrid box from the right side, with Cucho bringing it down. But he sends his snapshot over the bar. That was a half chance.
Oh dear! Huesca just keep making the wrong choice when they get into dangerous areas. This time it's centre back Pulido who ends up shinning a flying volley well wide of goal.
What a bizarre pass! Asensio was about 30 yards out from goal, but for some reason he played a lobbed pass to the right back position and ends up putting his team in trouble!
- OffLuis AvilaSD Huesca
- OnSamuele LongoSD Huesca
Longo comes on for the final six minutes. He hasn't got long to make an impression.
The match is in a strange sort of lull at the moment, as if both teams are gearing up for the final few moments, when Huesca will surely mount one last effort for an equaliser.
Just a reminder that three points here would move Real Madrid up to fourth place in the Liga table. It would see them close the gap on Barcelona at the top of the table to five points.
- Yellow cardPablo InsuaSD Huesca
Insua enters the book as time runs out for the home side.
There were some half-hearted appeals from some of the Huesca players for a penalty kick there. They thought Ramos handled the ball, but it clearly came off his backside.
Melero will be desperate for one last opportunity to find the net. His miss earlier in the second half was one of the misses of the season. He will be desperate for a chance to make amends.
Both of those last changes were strange. Bale has been Real Madrid's best player this afternoon and Ferreiro had been Huesca's best player. Both hooked off. Very strange.
- OffDavid FerreiroSD Huesca
- OnSerdar GürlerSD Huesca
Huesca also make a change of their own and it's Ferreiro (!) who comes off!
- OffGareth BaleReal Madrid
- OnMarco AsensioReal Madrid
One last chance for Real Madrid and it's Asensio who comes off for Bale.
This match has managing to stay interesting because of the performance that Huesca are turning in in this second half, but chances, real chances, have been few and far between.
There's a clash between Avila and Carvajal and the Huesca players are asking for a second yellow card to be shown to the Real Madrid right back. No card is forthcoming, though.
Where has this Huesca team been for the majority of the season? They sit slumped at the foot of the Liga table, and yet they have been able to produce this sort of display against Real Madrid.
The introduction of Isco has changed things for Real Madrid. They are now managing to keep the ball higher up the pitch and that is allowing them to create opportunities again.
Just wide! That was very close to a second for Bale and a second for Real Madrid. Bale lobbed his finish over the Huesca goalkeeper, but the ball bounced just wide of the far post.
The reaction from Modric as he walked off the pitch there was interesting. There was no handshake between the Croatian and Solari, who has taken him off a few times. Hmmmm...
Modric won the Ballon d'Or this week, but the Croatian midfielder has been out of form for quite some time. He's one of the players Real Madrid need to perform better right now.
- OffLuka ModricReal Madrid
- OnIscoReal Madrid
That is a bit of a surprising change from Solari. It's Modric who comes off for Isco.
Finally, it looks like Isco will be coming on for Real Madrid. Solari doesn't seem to be a fan of the playmaker, but there's no doubt that Real Madrid could use someone like him here.
Bale will be crucial to the way Real Madrid play these final 30 minutes or so. Huesca are seeing more of the ball and so Real Madrid will look to play on the counter through the Welshman.
Baaaaaale! For the first time in quite a while, Real Madrid break out on the counter attack, with Benzema playing Bale in behind. He unleashes the shot, but Jovanovic makes the diving stop.
This was the miss!
Surely Isco is the sort of player Real Madrid need to move their passing platform higher up the pitch in the face of this high pressing game from Huesca? Why is he still on the bench?
- OffDani CeballosReal Madrid
- OnFederico ValverdeReal Madrid
Solari makes his first chance and it's the youngster Valverde who comes on for Ceballos.
Tipped over! Ferreiro cuts inside and gets the shot away on goal. It was dipping underneath Courtois' crossbar, but the Belgian gets a hand up to tip the ball over! That was close.
Remember how they used to say that La Liga was a weak division and it wasn't as competitive as the Premier League? Yeah, you can't really say that anymore. See this game!
If Huesca are to find an equaliser and a way back into this game, it's most likely going to come from a cross. They look like they have the better of Real Madrid in the air.
Solari might need to change things up shortly. Real Madrid are genuinely struggling to get out of their own half at the moment. Huesca are taking the game to them in this second half.
Pictures of the Huesca bench after that Melero opportunity a few moments ago...
This is very impressive from the basement side in La Liga. They have Real Madrid pegged back and you wouldn't be surprised if there was an equaliser soon.
One wonders if Real Madrid might rue not making more of the advantage they held in the first half with the wind behind them. It's Huesca who are controlling things at the moment.
Huesca have started this second half on top. We expected this might happen. They have the wind (quite literally) at their backs and Real Madrid are having to dig deep.
The cross from Cucho was magnificent. Real Madrid's defence allowed Melero to drift into space, but looking at the replays it's almost as if he took his eye off the ball right at the last moment.
How did he miss? That should have been a Huesca equaliser. Melero was presented with a golden opportunity, but from only a matter of yards out he somehow managed to head wide.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! Real Madrid have a 1-0 lead over Huesca in this Liga fixture.

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Huesca 0-1 Real Madrid. Bale's volley is the difference between the two teams at the break. The Welshman has probably been the best player on the pitch up until now.
This match has been a bit of a slog at times, but that has suited Huesca. Will they come out and play a little bit more when they have the wind at their backs in the second half?
Real Madrid wanted the referee to play advantage following that foul on Bale. He had flicked the ball around the corner for Odriozola, who had space to gallop into down the right.
- Yellow cardXabier EtxeitaSD Huesca
Etxeita becomes the first Huesca player to enter the book for a nasty challenge on Bale. The ball was gone.
Is there one last chance left in this first half for Huesca to draw level? They have, on the whole, been second best, but they haven't been dominated by Real Madrid in the way many predicted.
- Yellow cardDani CeballosReal Madrid
Ceballos joins Carvajal in the book for a crunching tackle on Gomez.
This is more like the Varane we were used to seeing before the World Cup. The French centre back has struggled to find form over the early part of the season, but he has been solid today.
Might the wind be a factor in the second half? Real Madrid have played with it at their back in this first half. Might Huesca have the advantage when play restarts again after the break?
Ferreiro is right on top of Odriozola every time the Real Madrid right back gets the ball. He seems to have identified him as a weak point, but Odriozola isn't playing like the weak point.
Benzema has struggled to make an impression in this first half so far. It has been a mixed season for the Frenchman to this point. Real Madrid probably want more from him.
Odriozola has been impressive in the opening 30 minutes for Real Madrid. It's easy to see why he is considered the best young right back in the Spanish game at the moment.
Bale gets the cross in! The Welshman bursts to the byline and digs out a cross into the six yard box. Benzema was there, but the Frenchman was crowded out by Huesca defenders.
Varane makes the clearing header to prevent Huesca's freekick in a dangerous area on the left side coming to anything. That was something of an opportunity for the home side.
- Yellow cardDani CarvajalReal Madrid
Carvajal enters the book for putting an arm across Cucho and the home fans erupt in protest.
Was that a red? The Huesca players and the home supporters are incensed. They believe that Carvajal should be shown red for a challenge on Cucho. He went in with an arm, but was that enough to send him off?
Bale strike! It's the Welsh winger once again who gives Jovanovic problems. This time, Bale unleashes a left-footed strike from the edge of the box, but the goalkeeper makes the save.
Real Madrid are now attempting to take the sting out of this game by slowing down the play in the middle of the pitch. They look surprised by what Huesca have offered up.
Wow, this really is some eye-catching stuff from Huesca. They are zipping the passes around and making Real Madrid chase the ball. The dynamic of the contest has changed a bit.
This has been better from Huesca in the past five minutes or so. They have gathered themselves after losing the early opener and they are actually starting to play some football.
- OffJuan AguileraSD Huesca
- OnGonzalo MeleroSD Huesca
Huesca have been forced into an early change. Aguilera comes off with an injury and on comes Melero in his place.
Courtois forced into action! That was a fantastic move from Huesca, with Gomez teeing up Avila for the strike. It was a powerful shot, but Courtois makes the diving save to deny him!
Llorente was very impressive for Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey against Melilla during the week and Solari has stuck with the youngster for this game. This is a big chance for him.
A win here would lift Real Madrid up to fourth place in the Liga table. For all the chaos that has happened in Spanish football this season, the big teams are starting to rise to the top again.
Huesca are trying to keep the ball on the ground because the strong wind is right in their face and any long balls are just coming straight back at them. They are struggling at the moment.
Bale has been under pressure over the early part of the season. This was the Welshman's chance to step into the void left by Ronaldo. So far, he has failed to do that.
The conditions for this game are pretty poor. The wind is causing a lot of problems and so Bale was wise to side foot his volley for the goal rather than sticking the laces through it.
- GoalGareth BaleReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Huesca 0 Real Madrid 1 (9 mins - Gareth Bale). It took Real Madrid just nine minutes to find the opener and it's Bale! What a finish from the Welshman. Odriozola found him with a deep cross to the back post and Bale guided a side-footed volley into the back of the Huesca net! Fantastic.
Header wide! Etxeita was unmarked at the back post, getting his head on a deep corner kick delivery. He should have hit the target, but Etxeita can only direct his effort wide of the post.
That wasn't the work pass from Ferreiro, playing Avila down the channel. The Huesca forward got there ahead of Ramos and won the corner kick for his team. This could be a chance.
There's a great energy inside the tiny stadium. Real Madrid have come to town and the Huesca supporters have turned out to roar their team on against the European champions.
Huesca don't look so sure of themselves at the back. Real Madrid will be confident of filling their boots this afternoon, even though the home side are playing with three centre backs.
First chance! Quick start from Real Madrid, with a long throw in releasing Benzema in behind the Huesca defence. But the goalkeeper came off his line to make the save and force the corner.
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Huesca against Real Madrid in this La Liga fixture.
Okay, here we go. About to start the match. Kick off is just seconds away.
The two groups of players are walking out ahead of kick off at this tiny, tiny stadium. Handshakes taking place.
Barcelona were in exceptional form last night against Espanyol. Will we something similar from Real Madrid today?
Not long until kick off. What sort of Real Madrid team will show up this afternoon? And will La Liga's basement side be inspired to new heights against the European champions?
Real Madrid really need a win against La Liga's bottom team today. Anything less than that would be humiliating. But on top of that both Atletico and Barcelona won yesterday. Real need to keep up.
Shaky start! It's been a mixed start to life as Real Madrid's permanent manager for Solari. His team lost 3-0 away to Eibar two weekends ago, but they have since hit back with two straight wins.
I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twitter ahead of the game to let me know your thoughts. Can Huesca cause the mother of all upsets this afternoon? Tweet me!
Away form! Real Madrid have struggled on the road this season. They have just two away wins in La Liga, but Huesca have suffered a horror show of a campaign up until this point.
