Barcelona just had too much for Valencia. Ansu was the standout performer, but Valverde will also be pleased with the performance of de Jong who is starting to look like a natural fit in the centre of the Barca midfield. Valencia had chances, but they have some real problems at the moment.

- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Barcelona 5-2 Valencia
- GoalMaximiliano GómezValencia CF
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 5 (92 mins - Maxi Gomez) Valencia 2. It's a second consolation goal for Valencia. Cheryshev played a low cross into the box and Gomez was on hand to finish into the back of the net. It won't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, though. Barcelona are cantering to a win.
Just two minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.
Over the bar! The ball fell nicely to Wass, but he lashes his strike well over the crossbar. Valencia look like a group of players feeling sorry for themselves. It's been a tough week.
Barcelona have Borussia Dortmund in the first game of the Champions League next week, while Valencia have Chelsea. Tough games for both teams. Now conserving energy for those matches.
Valencia have thrown in the towel here. They managed to push their way back into this match at the end of the first half, but there's a real air of resignation to their body language now.
There has been a lot of criticism written and said about Suarez in recent weeks. Some have written him off, so this has been quite the response from the 32-year-old striker.
- GoalLuis SuárezFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 5 (82 mins - Luis Suarez) Valencia 1. It's another smart finish from Suarez! This time it comes from the clearance Wass made off the line from Rakitic. The ball broke to Suarez and he found the net at the near post. That's the second time that he has done Cillessen like that since coming on!
Off the line! Rakitic had one shot blocked from a tight angle, but then managed to clip a shot over Cillessen. Wass was back on the line to make the clearance from under his own crossbar!
On the whole, this has been a very impressive performance from Barcelona. They allowed Valencia back into the match in the first half, but they have been the better team by quite some distance.
He's okay. Lenglet is back on his feet and looks like he will be fine to continue. Meanwhile, Gomez escapes with just a booking. Modric was sent off for something like that on opening weekend.
Lenglet is still down on the ground after that tackle by Gomez. That was a really nasty one from the Valencia striker. He might have done some real damage to the Barca centre back.
- Yellow cardMaximiliano GómezValencia CF
That's a booking for Gomez. He caught Lenglet very late there. He can have no complaints.
PICTURE: Pique got his name on the score sheet.
Griezmann has actually been quiet this evening. The Frenchman's shot led to Pique's goal, the goal that all but killed the match, but other than that Griezmann hasn't been at his most influential.
- OffArthurFC Barcelona
- OnArturo VidalFC Barcelona
And another midfield change for Barcelona. Vidal will get the final 15 minutes of this match.
That was interesting. Rakitic has often been a scapegoat for Barcelona fans, but there was a huge roar for the Croatian as he entered the pitch there. It looked like he might leave a couple weeks ago.
- OffFrenkie de JongFC Barcelona
- OnIvan RakiticFC Barcelona
De Jong comes off and is given a standing ovation. Rakitic comes on in his place.
This was Suarez's goal...
- Yellow cardKang-In LeeValencia CF
He's only been on the pitch for a matter of seconds, but Lee has been shown a yellow card for a late tackle. A bit too eager from the youngster.
- OffFerrán TorresValencia CF
- OnKang-In LeeValencia CF
... and the second change sees the very highly rated Lee brought off the bench.
- OffGonçalo GuedesValencia CF
- OnDenis CheryshevValencia CF
It's a double change for Valencia, with Cheryshev coming on for the away side...
Valencia's heads have dropped in the last 10 minutes or so. They felt they had a chance at the start of the second half, but two goals from Barcelona have all but killed this as a contest.
Suarez curls one! All of a sudden the space opens up for the Barcelona striker 20 yards out, but his effort is saved by Cillessen, who watched that all the way and got his body behind it.
What an attack Barcelona will have when both Messi and Suarez are fully fit again. Add in Griezmann, Dembele and Ansu... will anyone in La Liga be able to stop them in full flow?
- GoalLuis SuárezFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 4 (62 mins - Jasper Cillessen) Valencia 1. And that should be the goal that secures the points for Barcelona. Suarez has only been on the pitch for a minute and he has a goal. He hesitated on the edge of the box, but then found the back of the net off the inside of the near post. Lovely finish.
Suarez picked up an injury in Barcelona's opening league game of the season at Athletic Club. Since then, he has been replaced in the starting lineup. He has a bit of a point to prove.
- OffAnsu FatiFC Barcelona
- OnLuis SuárezFC Barcelona
What a reception Ansu gets from the Camp Nou. He comes off for Suarez. What a talent the teenager is.
Valencia are doubling up on Ansu whenever he gets the ball. The teenager has faded a little bit in this second half, but that is largely down to what Valencia are doing to keep tabs on him.
Not many centre backs would have been following up Griezmann's shot for Barcelona's third goal. But not many centre backs are like Pique, a centre forward in the body of a centre back.
Once again, it feels like Barcelona are turning the screw on Valencia. It felt like this for much of the first half, but they never quite killed off the match. A fourth goal would do it.
Semedo strikes the post! The Barcelona right back got to the edge of the box and decided to take on the shot himself. His low strike was a good one, but it comes back off the inside of the far post!
- Yellow cardJordi AlbaFC Barcelona
Alba pulls back the shirt of Rodrigo and that's a yellow card for the Barcelona left back.
Cillessen swapped Barcelona for Valencia in the summer and the Dutchman won't have enjoyed that moment. He really should have saved Griezmann's initial effort without much fuss.
- GoalGerard PiquéFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 3 (51 mins - Gerard Pique) Valencia 1. Barcelona have restored their two-goal cushion and Cillessen handed his former team a gift there! Griezmann got the shot away on goal, the Dutch goalkeeper allowed it to squirm through his hands and on to the base of the post and Pique was on hand to finish the rebound!
After a good spell for Valencia at the start of the second half, Barcelona are starting to take a grip of things again. Arthur and de Jong are dictating things from the middle of the pitch.
PICTURE: It's been all about this man (boy) so far.
Barcelona overwhelmed Valencia at times in the first half, but the away side grew in the contest in the final 10 minutes or so. Is the international break jet leg becoming a factor?
Valencia start with determination in the opening minute of the second half, but Lenglet gets his body in the way to block a cross into the six yard box. Barcelona need to be careful.
- 2nd Half
The second half is under way! Barcelona a 2-1 lead over Valencia in this La Liga fixture.

HALF TIME: Barcelona 2-1 Villarreal. Ansu's performance has lit up the Camp Nou. A star has been born for the Catalans this evening. This match isn't quite over, yet. Valencia are still in this.
This has been a somewhat peculiar first half performance from Barcelona. They have overwhelmed their opponents for much of the 45 minutes, yet Valencia are still well in this at 2-1.
There will be two minutes of stoppage time played at the end of this first half.
That was a mammoth punch from Ter Stegen to clear the danger. The German has basically cleared about half the pitch as Valencia slung a cross into the Barcelona penalty area.
This is Valencia's best spell of the match. They have the ball at their feet for the first time and they are keeping it higher up the match than at any other point up until now.
The Camp Nou supporters have a new favourite in Ansu. There's a real anticipation every time the 16-year-old gets the ball. What a performance this has been in this first half.
Amazing! That would have been one of the assists of the season had he pulled that off. Ansu attempted to flick the pass through to Griezmann, who would have surely scored Barca's third.
Ter Stegen double save! Valencia have been outplayed in this first half, but they could have equalised. Ter Stegen makes a close range save from Rodrigo and then gets up to save from Gameiro as well!
Guedes wins the throw in. It's been a difficult evening for the Portuguese international. Valencia just haven't been able to hit out on the counter attack besides the one that their goal came from.
By my count, Ansu has only lost the ball once in this first half. The teenager possesses such fantastic decision making. He really looks like a superstar in waiting, if he's not already one.
PICTURE: Barcelona have hit top form in this first half.
ANSU... wide! That was a very similar chance to the one the teenager had not so long ago. He cut inside on to his right foot on the edge of the box and lashes a strike wide of the far post. Not far away at all!
That Valencia goal against the run of play has knocked some of the stuffing from Barcelona. They have lost their way a little bit, although they are still controlling the possession.
Some of the Barcelona players and the fans in the stand are appealing for a penalty after what they saw as a handball in the box. But the officials aren't interested and play continues.
- Yellow cardRodrigoValencia CF
It's the first yellow card of the night and it's shown to Rodrigo for a tackle on de Jong.
- GoalKevin GameiroValencia CF
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 2 Valencia 1 (29 mins - Kevin Gameiro). Valencia are back in this game! We had a lengthy VAR review after Gameiro was initially flagged offside, but he was onside when the pass from Rodrigo was played. The Frenchman finished calmly off the inside of the far post. We have a match again.
Still waiting... VAR review is ongoing. Surely they're going to give this? Gameiro, to the naked eye, looked to be onside!
GOOOOOOOOOO... NO! Valencia think that they have clawed one back. Gameiro was released in behind the Barcelona defence, he finished off the inside of the far post, but the flag was up for offside. I don't know... he looked onside!
Valencia's problems are pretty fundamental here. I haven't seen any possession stats, but they are barely getting on the ball. I'm pretty sure they haven't touched it in two to three minutes.
Arthur scooped a very clever pass through for Semedo to get on the end of in behind, but Cillessen comes off his line to gather and deny his former team a third goal within 25 minutes.
One of the issues for Barcelona last season was they weren't able to cope without Messi. The early signs this season are that Ansu and Griezmann might have given them a safety net.
Chance for the away team! That was a real opportunity for Valencia. Rodrigo played in Gameiro, but the French striker skewed his shot wide under pressure from Semedo. Should have done better.
It feels like we are watching something special tonight. We all knew that Ansu was a talent, but this feels like the moment a truly zeitgeist-setting player announces himself at the top level.
Alba did just enough to put off Rodrigo. The Valencia striker looked almost certain to join Atletico Madrid in the summer, but the move collapsed and so Rodrigo still finds himself at the Mestalla.
SOOOOO CLOSE! That would have been a stunner from Ansu! He moved the ball on to his right foot and curled a strike towards goal, but a slight deflection saw it flash just inches wide. Wow.
Ansu is showing for the ball every time Barcelona look to spray possession. The teenager plays without fear and has been the most influential player on the pitch in these early stages.
Celades is out on the touchline, but the new Valencia manager looks rather upset by what he has seen from his team in these opening 15 minutes. It's been a pretty bad display so far.
You can see a real partnership starting to emerge between de Jong and Arthur in the centre of the Barcelona midfield. That is the face of the future for the Catalan club.
That was a big goal for De Jong. The Dutchman had faced some criticism in his first few games for Barcelona. One of the criticisms was that he didn't get forward enough. One goal, one assist tonight...
PICTURE: Ansu is here.
Valencia need to keep their heads here. It would easy for them to let things boil over given the situation they find themselves in after just 10 minutes. Things are looking tough for them.
What a confident start this has been from Barcelona. They are in complete control and look like they might score every time they work the ball into the final third. They are rampant.
Well, I think it's fair to say that Ansu is quite the talent. What a start the 16-year-old has made to his Barcelona career. He's played about 20 minutes in total and has two goals and an assist!
- GoalFrenkie de JongFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 2 (7 mins - Frenkie de Jong) Valencia 0. The roles have been reversed for the second Barcelona goal! Ansu created the space, he crossed for de Jong and the young Dutch midfielder whistled a finish high into the roof of the net. It's already a long, long way back for Valencia from here.
If Valencia's plan was to sit deep, absorb pressure and hold Barcelona at arm's length, that game plan has been undone within just a few minutes. Not going all that well for Celades.
The finish from Ansu was excellent, but the assist from de Jong was just as good. The Dutchman spotted the run of the teenager and made the pass almost instantly. No hesitation.
Well, that woke up the Camp Nou. Ansu scored after coming off the bench before the international break and he has scored just two minutes into his first Barcelona start. Wow.
- GoalAnsu FatiFC Barcelona
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Barcelona 1 (2 mins - Ansu Fati) Valencia 0. What a moment! Ansu has scored two minutes into his first start as a Barcelona player! The 16-year-old arrived late on the scene, lashing home a low finish after an inch-perfect pass by de Jong. Ansu looks to be something special. Remember the name! What a star!
The scene before kick off.
It's quite telling that Suarez is on the bench for Barcelona this evening. He wasn't on international duty and so should be fresh, but Valverde has elected to stick with Ansu and Perez instead.
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Barcelona against Valencia in this La Liga fixture.
Okay, here we go. About to get under way at the Camp Nou. Kick off is just moments away.
This is Celades' first game in charge of Valencia and he couldn't have been handed a tougher task at the home of the champions.
The two groups of players are in the tunnel at the Camp Nou. About to walk out at this footballing coliseum.
Valencia warming up at the Camp Nou...
Not long until kick off at the Camp Nou. This is one of the most compelling fixtures in La Liga this weekend. Nobody is quite sure what to expect of Valencia. The same goes for Barcelona.
Valencia in crisis! It's been a rough week for the visitors to the Camp Nou. Marcelino was sacked earlier in the week and that decision has resulted in protests in fans protesting against Lim, the club owner.
I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twitter to let me know your thoughts ahead of the game. What do you expect of Valencia given their recent troubles? How badly do Barca need Griezmann to turn up? Tweet me!
No Messi! The Argentine is still out through injury, with Griezmann flanked by Perez and Ansu, the 16-year-old who has been handed his first start for Barcelona. No Rakitic again, which is interesting.
