- End of 2nd Half
FULL TIME: Eibar 0-4 Real Madrid
The pressure will be on Barcelona later tonight as they take on Celta Vigo at Balaidos. That's a stadium they have struggled at in years gone by. Real Madrid will go top with this win.
There will be just two minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the match.
Zidane will take a lot of positives from this match. The performance of Benzema and Hazard and Valverde, the momentum that Real Madrid look to be building... this has been good for them.
There is a sense that Real Madrid are finally starting to build some momentum after what was a very tough start to the season. Their recent performances have been much better.
That wasn't far wide! A poor header from Ramos sees the ball fall to Exposito, but the strike from the sub was deflected wide by Casemiro. That's the closest Eibar have come this evening.
As already referenced a few times before, but for the sake of recapping... this result will put Real Madrid top of La Liga on 25 points until Barcelona face Celta Vigo later tonight.
- OffKike GarcíaSD Eibar
- OnCharlesSD Eibar
It's one last change for Eibar as well. Charles comes off the bench for the home side.
- OffLucas VázquezReal Madrid
- OnBrahim DíazReal Madrid
Zidane has made his final change and Brahim will get the final seven minutes or so.
- OffPapakouli DiopSD Eibar
- OnEdu ExpósitoSD Eibar
A change for the home side with Exposito, the promising youngster, coming on.
Vazquez shot blocked! That was a chance for Real Madrid to score their fifth of the night. Benzema played the ball out to Vazquez, but the late tackle was made to deny him.
Real Madrid have now taken their foot off the pedal. They recognise that they have done enough to claim three points from this match to go top of La Liga at least for the time being.
The emergence of Rodrygo has subsequently put pressure on Vinicius, another Brazilian teenager, to rediscover his form. The winger has struggled early on this season.
Keep in mind that Zidane was unhappy with his midfield when the summer transfer window closed. He badly wanted Pogba. However, Valverde has stepped into that void.
As much as Zidane has done a lot in recent weeks to lift the levels of his players, Isco and Vinicius are two who have struggled to find form this season. This is a chance for them.
Hazard and Valverde were probably Real Madrid's two best players this evening. They are key to what Zidane is trying to build at the club this season. They are finally coming good.
- OffEden HazardReal Madrid
- OnVinícius JúniorReal Madrid
It's actually a double change from Zidane. Hazard is also coming off and on comes Vinicius.
- OffFederico ValverdeReal Madrid
- OnIscoReal Madrid
Here comes Zidane's first change and it's Valverde who comes off for Isco.
It's somewhat surprising that Zidane hasn't made a change yet. This game is won, the points are in the bag, so you'd think this would be a chance to give some key players a rest.
This has been a good run of results and performances for Real Madrid. Even the 0-0 draw at home to Real Betis saw them play well. They were unlucky not to claim three points.
- OffFabián OrellanaSD Eibar
- OnPedro LeónSD Eibar
It's a change for Eibar with Orellana coming off for Leon. He will provide some width.
Valverde has been exceptional in recent weeks. The Uruguayan has become a key figure for Zidane and that goal suggests that he could also become a goal threat for Real Madrid.
There was a sense that Eibar were building something in this second half, that a goal for the home team would change things. Real Madrid have just secured the points with that fourth goal.
- GoalFederico ValverdeReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Eibar 0 Real Madrid 4 (63 mins - Fede Valverde). There's the fourth goal from Real Madrid and that will be enough to kill off Eibar for good! Modric retrieved a deep cross, he then turned back and then picked out Valverde just inside the box. The young midfielder then stroked a finish into the back of the net!
PICTURE: Benzema bagged a brace in the first half.
Scoring the first goal against Real Madrid is sometimes tough. However, once you get that first goal their resolve tends to break. That has been the pattern at times this season.
Zidane looks somewhat concerned down on the touchline. Eibar have built up a head of steam at the start of the second half. A goal for the home side would completely change the dynamic.
The home supporters inside Iperua are furious that their team wasn't given a penalty kick, but the replays show that there wasn't nearly enough to warrant a spot kick for the home side.
Eibar penalty claim! Enrich angled a header towards goal after a deep cross, it came off the chest of Carvajal and then might have brushed his hand. No penalty is the decision from the officials.
Casemiro is down! The Brazilian midfielder looks to have picked up a knock and that has left Real Madrid down to 10 men for the time being. It's not quite clear what Casemiro's problem is.
Of course, after this weekend it will be the international break. Zidane will be very keen to ensure that Real Madrid end this phase of the season on a high note. They can lay down a marker here.
This has been slightly better from Eibar at the start of the second half. They are at least trying to get in behind the Real Madrid defence. Ramos gives away a corner, but it comes to nothing.
Valverde has become such an important player for Real Madrid this season. As things stand, there's only one place between Kroos and Modric with Valverde and Casemiro the other two.
As much as the difference in quality has been evident this evening, it's Real Madrid's work ethic and energy that has been most impressive. There has been a real drive to their display.
Flicks, tricks... Real Madrid are enjoying themselves at the moment. They just have to be careful not to let Eibar back into the game. They have done that from a 3-0 position a couple times this season.
PICTURE: This has been a strong performance from Real Madrid.
Indeed, this has been Hazard's best performance in a Real Madrid shift to date. The Belgian has ripped Eibar to shreds. They haven't been able to cope with the wide man. Relentless.
Real Madrid completely dominated the opening 45 minutes at Iperua. They are in a commanding position. Surely they won't allow Eibar back into the match in the second period?

- End of 1st Half
HALF TIME: Eibar 0-3 Real Madrid. An excellent 45-minute performance from Real Madrid has seen them build a three-goal aadvantage. This could get ugly for Eibar. They have been dominated.
Escalante should score! It was an excellent freekick delivery to the backpost from Orellana, but the Eibar captain puts his shot from a tight angle over the crossbar when he should have scored!
There will be three minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the first half.
Modric is down! This could be a real worry for Zidane. The Croatian midfielder has asked for the ball to be put out and is now holding his ankle. Will Zidane be forced into the change?
This is a real chance for Real Madrid to put down a marker at the top of La Liga with Barcelona playing Celta Vigo at Balaidos later this evening. They are playing very well.
This is a bit better from Eibar who are at least showing some signs of life towards the end of the first half. Orellana cut a ball back from the right wing, but the clearance is made.
PICTURE: Benzema already has a brace to his name.
This has been a relentless performance from Real Madrid in this first half. Eibar have had no answer for what has been thrown at them by the capital side. They have been distinctly second best.
When you see Benzema and Hazard playing together like this, and then factor in Rodrygo, Real Madrid have a front three that they can build around. Those three players are electric.
That's the first time this evening that Eibar have given Real Madrid anything to think about. Cote got down the left side and played the cross into the middle, but Courtois gathers.
One of the most impressive things about this Real Madrid performance in this first half has been the work rate and their intensity. Eibar are being torn to shreds. This could get ugly.
That needed to be saved! That was surely a cross from Carvajal on the right side, but it very nearly caught Dmitrovic out. The Serbian goalkeeper needed to push it over his own crossbar.
PICTURE: Hazard has been excellent so far.
Despite the goalless draw against Real Betis last weekend, there have been signs in recent weeks that Real Madrid are finally starting to find their groove after a tough start to this season.
This has been an impressive opening half hour from Real Madrid. They have caused Eibar all sorts of problems in the wide areas. It's a long, long way back for the home team from here.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Eibar 0 Real Madrid 3 (29 mins - Karim Benzema pen). Not even 30 minutes has been played at Iperua and Real Madrid have a commanding 3-0 lead. This time it's Benzema who takes the penalty, but the result is the same with the French striker sending Dmitrovic the wrong way from 10 yards out.
PENALTY KICK TO REAL MADRID! Vazquez is brought down clumsily by Cote and it's another spot kick to the away side!
This has been Hazard's best performance in a Real Madrid shirt so far. This has been much more like the player they paid all that money for in the summer transfer window.
It's a long way back for Eibar from this point. They have really struggled to get going in this first half. I'm not entirely sure if the home side have even managed to test Courtois.
Replays showed that Hazard went down very easily under very little contact from Dmitrovic. It certainly wasn't enough for the Eibar goalkeeper to be shown a straight red card.
Hazard believes he was tripped! The Belgian was played in behind the Eibar backline and had space to run into. Dmitrovic came off his line, Hazard went down... the officials say no foul.
This has been an impressive opening 20 minutes by the capital club. They were impressive against Galatasaray in the Champions League during the week and they have been impressive here.
- Goal by penaltySergio RamosReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Eibar 0 Real Madrid 2 (20 mins - Sergio Ramos pen). Ramos steps up to the 12-yard mark and sends Dmitrovic the wrong way, rolling his effort into the left-hand corner of the Eibar net. The past few minutes have seen Real Madrid took a commanding grip of this match as a contest.
PENALTY KICK TO REAL MADRID! Hazard is tripped inside the box by De Blasis and the away side will have the chance to score from the spot!
Benzema has been Real Madrid's main man since Ronaldo left for Juventus and the Frenchman now has another goal for the capital club. He is their sixth all-time goalscorer now!
- GoalKarim BenzemaReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Eibar 0 Real Madrid 1 (17 mins - Karim Benzema). Real Madrid have broken the deadlock! That had been coming! In the end, it was a bit of a scrappy goal, with Modric and Valverde forcing the save from Dmitrovic, but Benzema was on hand to clean up and find the back of the net from a tight angle.
There are some reports surfacing in Catalonia that Valverde will actually be sacked if Barcelona fail to beat Celta Vigo this evening. That would present a big opportunity to Real Madrid.
As referenced in the build up to this game, Real Madrid can go top of La Liga with a win this evening after Real Sociedad's draw last night. Barcelona play Celta Vigo later this evening.
Cleared for a corner! Mendy got down the left side and played the cross into the box. The Frenchman was looking for Benzema at the back post, but the clearance was made before it could reach him.
There are a lot of people who believe the potential partnership between Benzema and Hazard might be enough to carry Real Madrid through the season. There have been some signs.
Big save from Dmitrovic! Real Madrid break at pace, Benzema feeds the pass out to Hazard who clips the return ball into the middle. Benzema flicks it goalwards, but Dmitrovic saves with his legs!
Escalante is going to continue here. How does this square with FIFA's push on clubs to take concussion more seriously? The Eibar captain took a very heavy blow to the head from Mendy.
Real Madrid had started this match the better of the two teams before the break in play due to the injury to Escalante. They have looked the more likely to find the back of the net.
Eibar might be forced into an early change here. Escalante is struggling. We're still waiting for the Eibar captain to get to his feet again after the heavy clash with Mendy.
Escalante is down! That was a sore one. Mendy ran straight into the Eibar captain and now Escalante is receiving some treatment for a head knock. There was no intent from Mendy.
Real Madrid lost 3-0 to Eibar at Iperua last season. Only five players from that game have made the starting lineup this evening. A lot has changed, while a lot has remained the same, since then.
Off the woodwork! Just inches away from being an early opener for Real Madrid! Modric played a clipped pass over the top for Benzema who strikes the outside of the far post with his shot. The flag was up, though.
This is Real Madrid's fourth match in the past 11 days. That gives you an idea why Zidane has made the decision to rotate his squad tonight. Probably a sensible call from the Frenchman.
Courtois has had a shaky start to life at Real Madrid, but there are signs that the Belgian is finally beginning to grow accustomed to his surroundings in Spain. His recent form has been good.
It's a cold evening at Iperua. The raining is also coming down hard. Let's hope the football on offer warms those watching inside the smallest stadium in Spain's top division.
- 1st Half
The match is under way! It's Eibar against Real Madrid in this La Liga fixture.
Okay, here we go. The match is about to get started at Iperua. Kick off is just moments away.
Real Madrid have found a vein of better form in recent weeks, but they did draw at home to Real Betis in their last La Liga outing.
Not long until kick off at Iperua. This should be a good match. Eibar have been on a roll recently. They won't be pushovers.
Modric is back in the Real Madrid midfield from the start for this one. The Croatian has recovered from injury, but is still lacking somewhat in match sharpness. Casemiro and Valverde also start.
Real Sociedad's draw last night means that Real Madrid can go top of La Liga with a victory against Eibar. Barcelona can respond against Celta Vigo later this evening.
A highlight from the past...
I'm Graham Ruthven and you can catch me on Twitter ahead of the match to let me know your thoughts. Can Eibar cause an upset? Will this be the game that sees Hazard finally find form? Tweet me!
Rodrygo not in the lineup! Real Madrid's next big thing has been given a rest after his heroics in the Champions League during the week. Vazquez takes the Brazilian's place in the lineup.
