OFF THE BAR! Incredible drama right at the death! Ter Stegen came up for a freekick, the ball fell to Ilaix inside the area, but the young midfielder smashed a strike off the crossbar!
This would be a huge victory from Real Madrid and would take them to the top of La Liga! Marcelo looked to be through for a moment there, but Mingueza makes the challenge.
Courtois denies Messi again! That was a chance for Barcelona to snatch a point from this match, but Messi sends his freekick from the edge of the box straight at the goalkeeper.
There will be four minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the match.
- Red cardCasemiroReal Madrid
SENT OFF! Casemiro has been shown two quickfire yellow cards and Real Madrid will be down to 10 men for the final few minutes of this match. Can they get over the line?
PICTURE: Can Courtois keep Barca from scoring a second?
Is there one last chance left in this match for Barcelona to snatch a point? They have improved in the second half, but they gave themselves so much work to do after the first 45 minutes.
Real Madrid have the second leg of their Champions League quarter final against Liverpool to look forward to next week, but Zidane and his players have to focus on these female few minutes right now.
No penalty! There's a lot of confusion as the Barcelona players surround the referee, but in the end no spot kick is awarded and play continues. There wasn't much contact at all.
Big claim for a spot kick! Alba was in behind, he prodded a shot wide, then Mendy put out an arm on Braithwaite. Was that enough for a penalty? There's going to be a VAR check here.
Isco shoots over the bar! Good work by Asensio and Modric down the right creates the shooting opportunity for Isco just inside the box, but he was leaning back and shoots over!
The referee is having some problems with his communication device due to the rain. Meanwhile, Messi is off the pitch getting a dry shirt. It won't stop dry for very long, Leo!

Another change for Barcelona here and Ilaix is introduced for Araujo.
PICTURE: Mingueza got one back
Across the face! Mingueza takes aim from a tight angle on the right side, but the ball flashes across the face of the Real Madrid goal without anyone gambling on it for Barca!
Into the wall! Messi lines up the freekick on the edge of the penalty area, but the Real Madrid wall holds firm and the hosts survive. A pretty underwhelming attempt, it must be said.
- Yellow cardNachoReal Madrid
Nacho is shown a yellow card for a foul on Messi just over 20 yards out from goal.
What a chance for Kroos! Vinicius gets on the end of a deep ball to the back post, Kroos had the penalty box to himself, but the midfielder somehow managed to head wide of the target!
Vinicius has often been compared to Dembele. They are both mercurial, exciting wingers who have struggled for consistency and he too has found some good form in recent weeks.
Vinicius was in behind! Barcelona looked to be in real trouble there as Vinicius raced in behind to get on the end of a Modric pass, but his square pass to Benzema was intercepted!
Barca close again! Messi plays the pass to Alba, he was essentially at the near post, but Courtois sticks out a leg to deflect the full back's pass into the middle. Real Madrid having to defend!
Off the base of the post! Vinicius drives at his man inside the box, creates the space for the cross, but his ball picks up a deflection off Mingueza and bounces off the base of the post!
- OffFederico ValverdeReal Madrid
- OnMarco AsensioReal Madrid
A change for Real Madrid and Asensio comes on for Valverde. An attacking change!
This just got interesting. How will Real Madrid respond? Will they press for a third goal to kill this contest? Or will they protect what they have and invite Barca on top of themselves?
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 2 Barcelona 1 (60 mins - Oscar Mingueza). Barcelona have a foothold in this match and it's an unlikely scorer - Mingueza! Alba got down the left side, played a ball into the middle and the young defender found the back of the Real Madrid net with a scuffed finish off his shin!
Koeman’s team have really found their groove in recent weeks. Barcelona have managed to turn their season around with the Dutch manager merging experienced heads and youngsters, but they need another turnaround here.
PICTURE: Vazquez had to be subbed
Shot from Benzema! The Real Madrid forward drives forward with the ball at his feet and gets the shot away from the edge of the box, but the ball flashes over the top of the bar!
Griezmann wide... offside! That looked like a super chance for Griezmann after being played in by De Jong, but the Frenchman guided his shot wide and the flag was up anyway.
This is quite remarkable now. The rain is still pouring, but it's become quite difficult to see what is happening. The virtual fans technology is also being interfered with. All very strange.
It's biblical rain at Valdebebas now! It's definitely making things more difficult for the players. It's only until you get a close up camera angle that you realise how heavy it is!
It’s not just Ramos who is missing in defence for Real Madrid. Varane tested positive for Covid-19 last week and so the French centre back is also on the sidelines for the hosts.
Ramos is missing for Real Madrid this evening. The veteran centre back is sidelined through injury, although Zidane’s side have managed admirably well without their captain and leader.
PICTURE: Kroos scored the second goal
What will the second half bring? Koeman has shifted his formation and Barcelona are going to try pressing on Real Madrid much higher up the pitch. They have some work to do!
As expected, Koeman has made a change for the start of the second half with Griezmann on for Dest.
The second half is under way! Real Madrid have a 2-0 lead over Barcelona in this La Liga fixture!
HALF TIME: Real Madrid 2-0 Barcelona. Koeman has some work to do at the half time interval. Barca aren't down and out yet, but it's a long way back for them from two goals down.
Off the inside of the post! Barcelona very nearly gave themselves a lifeline there with Messi crashing an effort off the inside of the back post straight from a corner kick! Incredible!
There will be two minutes of stoppage time played at the end of the first half.
Here's the change and Odriozola comes on for the injured Vazquez for Real Madrid.
It looks like Real Madrid might have to make a change here. Vazquez has sustained some damage following that tackle with Busquets and Odriozola is getting ready to come on.
PICTURE: All going Real Madrid's way
The rain is pouring down at Valdebebas. It's making conditions a little tricky, although Barcelona are doing a decent job of keeping the ball under control on the slippy grass.
There's a pause in the match at the moment as Busquets and Vazquez receive some treatment after a bad clash between them in the centre of the pitch. They should be fine to continue.
Dembele goes down! The Frenchman wants a spot kick for what he saw as a foul by Mendy inside the penalty box, but the officials say Dembele went down a bit too easily.
Griezmann is warming up down the touchline. Surely we will see the Frenchman for the start of the second half if this continues? Barcelona need something. This isn't working.
Off the post! Inches away from being a third Real Madrid goal! The hosts come flying forward on the counter attack, Valverde smashes his strike off the far post and Modric has his shot blocked!
Dembele scuffs his shot! That was a very good chance for Barcelona to pull one back, but Dembele completely misses his shot when he was free about 12 yards out from goal!
Pedri has been one of the biggest success stories of Barcelona's season, but it must be said that the teenager has struggled so far in this match. He looks a bit out of his depth.
The difference between the two teams has been in the cutting edge Real Madrid have had in the final third. Barcelona, on the other hand, have struggled to find the final ball.
PICTURE: Benzema opened the scoring!
It's all going rather well for Real Madrid, although Barcelona will be a little bemused to be losing 2-0 here. They have played some decent stuff, but Real Madrid have been ruthless!
- GoalToni KroosReal Madrid
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 2 (28 mins - Toni Kroos) Barcelona 0. It's a second Real Madrid goal and Kroos is the one who has found the back of the net! The German's freekick right on the edge of the box was a good one, but it was two deflections that took it past ter Stegen! Los Blancos cruising!
- Yellow cardRonald AraújoFC Barcelona
Now Araujo enters the referee's book for a foul on Vinicius right on the edge of the box.
There’s still no sign of Hazard for Real Madrid despite the Belgian returning to training following an injury this week. He has yet to feature in a Clasico since arriving in Spain two years ago.
Los Blancos come into this match on the back of an impressive 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Champions League. Zidane’s side made a point in their performance against the English champions.
Pedri is shown the first yellow card of the match for a foul on Casemiro 25 yards out from goal.
Modric's shot is blocked! There was a bit of mayhem on the edge of the Barcelona box, the ball broke for Modric, but the Croatian midfielder's strike is blocked! Just as well for Barca!
Real Madrid have won seven of their last nine league matches, drawing the other two. Zidane’s side are also in the midst of the title race and have their sights set on the trophy.
Alba has given Barcelona an attacking outlet down the left side, but the space he is leaving in behind is proving a problem for the away side. Valverde is finding that space!
Big chance for Dembele! An opportunity for Barcelona to find an equaliser with Messi dribbling into the box and crossing for Dembele, but the Frenchman couldn't make a connection!
What a brilliant goal that was from Benzema. The French forward is in the form of his life at the moment. Vazquez and Valverde also deserve credit for their roles in the opener.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Real Madrid 1 (14 mins - Karim Benzema) Barcelona 0. Benzema finds the back of the net and Real Madrid have the advantage in El Clasico! Valverde surged through the midfield, fed the pass out to Vazquez, he picked out Benzema in the middle and the Frenchman flicked home a finish!
Vinicius dribble! Fantastic control from Vinicius on his chest (where have we seen that before?), but the Brazilian couldn't thread the pass through to Benzema who was in space.
We're still waiting for the first genuine goalscoring opportunity. Barcelona have looked the more potent of the two teams in the early stages, but Courtois hasn't really been tested.
PICTURE: No early breakthrough
Courtois makes the intervention! Messi played Alba to the byline down the left side, the full back's cross into the middle was a dangerous one, but Courtois palms it away!
Barcelona have made a good start to the match. They are seeing most of the ball, although Real Madrid seem quite happy to stand off their rivals and hit out on the counter.
On top of this, Barcelona have won their last nine games away from home in La Liga. Koeman’s side have been in excellent form away from the Camp Nou over the last few weeks and months.
Barcelona have won 13 of their last 14 matches in La Liga. This upturn in form has thrust the Catalans back into the midst of the title race at the top of the table. Another win here would be huge.
Messi brings down Casemiro as the Brazilian skips past him. Could this be Messi's last Clasico? His contract is up at the end of the season and there has been no more news on his future.
Shaky moment! Some jitters from ter Stegen as the Barcelona goalkeeper gives the ball away, but Real Madrid couldn't do anything with it. It's been a fast-paced start to the match!
What sort of match will we get this evening? Both these two teams have been in good form recently. The outcome of this game could have a major influence on the La Liga title race.
The match is under way! It's Real Madrid against Barcelona in this La Liga fixture!
Okay, here we go. It's the biggest fixture in European club football and kick off is just moments away!
The two teams are in the tunnel at Valdebebas. Unusual surroundings for a match as big as this, it must be said!
Not long until kick off at the Estadio Alfredo di Stefano. This could be a classic between two in-form rivals.
This could be a huge game in the context of the title race at the top of La Liga! There's just two points between the two rivals. Barcelona can go top with a victory this evening!

Griezmann on the bench! Meanwhile, there are a few headlines with the Barcelona lineup. Griezmann is on the bench, de Jong is back into midfield and Araujo starts in defence!
Valverde starts! The big team news for Real Madrid is that Asensio is on the bench with Valverde in the lineup to beef up the home side in the centre of the pitch. Big call from Zidane!
