Memphis has very quickly become a key figure for Barcelona. The Dutchman was chased by Koeman for a long time, but how will Xavi view him? Memphis is still a key source of goals.

You can already see that Barcelona are playing in clearer triangles. Their exchange play is much quicker under Xavi than it was at any stage with Koeman as manager. Big difference.

Espanyol are struggling to keep hold of the ball at the moment. The Barcelona high press is giving them real problems. Can they keep up this intensity for 90 minutes?

Gavi tries the shot! The young midfielder decides to take on the shot after space opened up for him on the edge of the box, but the ball flies off target. That was a half chance!

This has been encouraging stuff from Barcelona - they look like Barcelona again - but Xavi won't be pleased until their dominance is reflected in the scoreline. Still goalless.

Dangerous cross! Pedrosa did well to burst down the left side and get a dangerous cross into the middle, but no Espanyol player gambled on getting to the near post!

De Tomas is one of the best natural finishers in the Spanish top flight. He could do some real damage to Barcelona this evening. They will need to keep an eye on him.

Espanyol came into this match on the back of a confidence-boosting 2-0 win over Granada. That performance hinted at the potential of this side as they look to stay in La Liga.
