Lille's hopes of a top five finish in Ligue 1 were hit by a 0-0 draw with Angers on Wednesday night.
They remain four points off fifth-placed St Etienne after a difficult game against opponents only two places below them in the table.
Frederic Antonetti's men were aiming to bounce back from Saturday's 2-1 Coupe de la Ligue final loss to Paris Saint-Germain, but could not chalk up a seventh consecutive league win.
Vicent Enyeama pulled off a string of superb saves to keep the home side level in the first-half, before they rallied in the second period.
Eder came close but Lille were unable to make up further ground on those above them.
