Football news - Xavi: Neymar more likely to match Lionel Messi than Kylian Mbappe
Neymar has a greater chance to emulate Lionel Messi as the world's greatest player than Kylian Mbappe, according to former Barcelona captain Xavi.
While 19-year-old Mbappe is arguably the greatest youngest player in the world after helping France claim World Cup glory in July, Xavi feels his old Barcelona team-mate 26-year-old Neymar is more likely to succeed Messi.
Mbappe and Neymar have scored 25 goals for runaway French league leaders Paris Saint-Germain this season - both netting in a 2-1 win over Lille on Friday - to help their team rampage 12 points clear of Montpellier at the top of Ligue 1 with 12 wins from 12 matches.
"He's a very superior player physically," said Xaxi of Mbappe on Catalunya Radio.

"It's impressive that at his age he has those differences, but he could also get stuck, it's very difficult to predict.
"He still has no football maturity but, he could be one of the good ones. He is so strong, but that does not always work in elite football, he has to learn to think."
"Neymar is the player that I have seen, if he manages to acquire that maturity, that might be more like Messi."
