The referee doesn't bother with any injury time, and blows the whistle on ninety minutes. That's an emphatic victory for Paris St Germain, who move eight points clear at the top of Ligue 1.

Sarr hits an angled drive at goal from the right of the area, which deflects wide for a corner that PSG clear.

Di Maria curls a long cross to the back post to Cavani, who throws himself into a spectacular bicycle kick but makes a hash of it and the ball pinballs out of the area and away from danger.

CHANCE FOR MARSEILLE! PSG are a bit too cocky playing out from the back and a stray pass falls to Ake. From around the penalty spot, the young striker wallops a shot on the turn that flies just past the post.

Another change for Marseille, as Sanson comes on for Germain. We're at testimonial pace now, you suspect both sets of players consider this done.

A changes for Marseille, as 18-year old Ake replaces Benedetto.

Saradia replaces Ander Herrera for PSG.

Better from Marseille, as they work a shooting chance for Rongier on the edge of the area. Thiago SIlva hurls himself across the line of it to deflect the ball out for a corner.

Rongier has a speculative long range effort, which bounces feebly into the hands of Navas. This game was finished as a contest with Icardi's second and as a spectacle by the half-time whistle.

Paredes takes it for PSG. It's weak and straight at Mandanda, who punches it straight up into the air under no pressure and then gathers at the second attempt.

A deliberate handball from Caleta-Car gives a free-kick to PSG in a dangerous position. Surprisingly, he's not booked.

Mbappe goes off to a huge ovation; what a tremendous talent he is. The roar is even greater for his replacement though - PSG's all-time leading scorer Cavani comes on to the field.

Keepball now from PSG, who hog it for an age before lobbing it forward to Mbappe. He exchanges passes with Icardi and gets into the area, but drags his shot wide.

Thomas Tuchel is having a right go at his players from the side. He's not happy with PSG's second half at all.

Di Maria's free-kick clips the wall and goes out for a corner.

PSG break at lightning speed again. Di Maria hits a through ball to Mbappe, who is checked by Sakai and goes over. It looked like the ball was too far ahead of Mbappe, so it's just a yellow card, but there's a good shooting chance from the free-kick.

A chance for PSG, as Paredes replaces Dagba.

Bernat goes into the book for PSG as he brings down a breaking Payet.

Payet bursts forward for Marseille and finds Germain on the right. He fires in a low ball to Benedetto six yards out, but the attemtped back heel at goal by the striker is blocked. This is much better from Marseille in the second half, if futile given the score.

Cavani is warming up for PSG here, which has pleased the home fans no end.

Strootman finds Sarr in a bit of space outside the area, but he yahoos a shot over the PSG bar from 25 yards.

Benedetto has a chance at a volley now from 15 yards out, but hits it straight into the ground and Navas gathers the bouncing ball.

Sarr whips a cross in to the front post, where Benedetto is waiting. Kimpembe gets in just in time to clear the ball for a corner.

Another lightning break from PSG almost gets Veratti in. Mbappe switches the ball from left to right for Di Maria, who chest passes it to the midfielder as he breaks forward but Mandanda is out quickly to clear.

Marseille were late out, and they've made a change it seems, with Amavi coming on for Lopez.

We're off for the second half. It might be worth pointing out at this juncture that the biggest margin of victory ever achieved in Le Classique was 5-1, which PSG served up to Marseille in 1978 and 2017.

That's your lot for a first half in which, quite frankly, Paris St Germain were devastating.

GOAL! Paris St Germain 4 (Mbappe 44) Marseille 0

He's done it again! This is brilliant from PSG. They play out precariously from back through Navas, but eventually find Veratti. He shifts it on to Di Maria in the centre-circle, who curls a through pass to Mbappe with the outside of his foot that splits Marseille wide open. Mbappe races onto it, sets it with one touch and shoots through Mandanda. The goalkeeper got a hand on it and should have saved it, but that was a stunning move.

Sarr gets his cross in this time and finds Payet in the area. It's at an awkward height though, and Payet can't divert his volley towards goal.

Payet whips it over but PSG clear. Sarr has a couple of efforts at follow-up crosses on the right, but hits the first man each time.

Dagba is booked for clattering Payet. Marseille have a free-kick in a good position just to the left of the PSG area.

There's a bit of a lull now, after the rat-a-tat of chances and goals around the half hour mark. Marseille could easily be five down here.

Marseille look utterly punch drunk here. They had the first two glimmers of a chance, but have been destroyed since then.

GOAL! Paris St Germain 3 (Mbappe 32) Marseille 0

It's three! This not so much been in the post but sent by courier. A clipped ball from Veratti releases Di Maria down the inside right channel. His cross is perfect as it cuts out Mandanda and arrives at the back post for Mbappe to tap it over the line from two yards out. This is rout, and quite awesome from the home side.

CHANCE! What a save from Mandanda! Mbappe is put through into the penalty area on the right, and drills a low shot at the bottom corner. MAndanda flashes out a hand to divert it just wide of the post. That's a stunning save.

CLOSE! A through pass from Kimpembe right through the middle of Marseille releases Icardi. He's one on one with Mandanda but too close to the goalkeeper. The shot is smothered, and Mbappe tries to go for a spectacular lob from the rebound that he drags wide.

GOAL! Paris St Germain 2 (Icardi 26) Marseille 0

He's got another! PSG work some neat tringles on the right and eventually work it infield to Veratti. He clips a cute ball over the top of the defence and into the area. Icardi, barely inside, races in to glance a header past the stranded Mandanda to give PSG a two-goal lead.

HUGE CHANCE! A loose ball breaks to Mbappe, who plays an absurdly brilliant back heel to Icardi that cuts out through Marseille defence incisively. Icardi takes a touch and shoots, but Mandanda is out to block and parry the ball away.

Another offside call now, as Payet's long free-kick finds Strootman free at the back post. Herrera did well to clear the header that came back across goal, as he could have had no idea that the flag would go up.

Bernat releases Di Maria with a stunning pass down the inside left channel, but the winger is just offside as he goes through and slashes his shot wide.

Marquinhos finds Dagba with a lovely pass down the right. The full-back's cross is put behind by Sarr for a corner, which Marquinhos climbs highest to win but heads down and wide of goal.

Marseille have responded well here, and are comfortable in possession although it's deep in their own half.

Marseille win a free-kick thirty yards from goal. Payet whips it in to the back post but the attempted header back across goal is deflected and PSG clear.

GOAL! Paris St Germain 1 (Icardi 10) Marseille 0

And it's a costly miss for Marseille as PSG take the lead! Di Maria beats his man on the right and hooks a cross to the back post. Icardi rises to head at goal. Mandanda stops it, but the rebound falls directly back to Icardi who hooks it into the net.

CLOSE! Payet gets in space on the left wing, and whips a low cross into the area. It goes behind everyone, and Germain runs around it to hook a left-footed shot just wide of goal.

A lovely diagonal ball to Di Maria finds him in space on the right of the penalty area. He tries to volley a ball across the area but it's blocked by Sakai and bounces back to Mandana.

Icardi wins a corner for PSG.

Two electric bursts from Mbappe here. The first is in chasing a long ball over the top and forcing a corner; he receives it short, and dances past a defender into the area before walloping a shot from a tight angle into the side-netting.

An opening for Marseille now, as a loose pass infield presents a chance to Benedetto. He dithers on the ball as he cuts into the area and loses it, when he might have shot earlier.

An early chance for PSG. Mbappe crafts a deft lay-off for Di Maria on the edge of the area, but the Argentine drags his shot wide.

A couple of shrill blasts and off we go!

After a bit of a delay the teams are now coming out to quite the extravagant welcome. Thumping music, dazzling lights...magnificent stuff.

We’re almost ready to go here, the captains Thiago Silva and Steve Mandanda are ready to lead out the teams. The referee tonight is Benoit Bastien. The atmosphere in the Parc des Princes is absolutely jumping.

It’s the fixture in French football most loaded with meaning, but Le Classique has been a miserable experience for the visitors in recent years. Marseille haven’t won in Paris since February 2010 and haven’t beaten them anywhere since November 2011. In total, the visiting side haven’t managed a victory over Paris St Germain in the last fifteen attempts.

Marseille are currently seventh in Ligue 1. Their 2-0 home victory over Strasbourg last weekend ended a patchy run of results where they’d lost one and drawn three of the previous four. They’ll be fresh at least, which might improve their chances; after finishing fifth in Ligue 1 in 2018-19, Marseille missed out on the qualifying places for the European competitions this season.

Paris St Germain have started the 2019-20 season in merciless form. They’ve won eight and lost two of their ten Ligue 1 matches so far, keeping seven clean sheets in the process, and lead the league by five points. There’s been no let up in Europe either; PSG have won all three of their group stage games in the Champions League this season, and come in to tonight’s match of the back of a 5-0 walloping of Club Brugge on Tuesday, which contained a hat-trick from substitute Kylian Mbappe.

Marseille manager Andre Villas-Boas makes one change from their victory over Strasbourg in Ligue 1 last weekend, as Payet returns to the starting eleven in place of Radonjic, who drops to the bench.

Neymar is still an absentee through injury tonight for Paris St Germain. There’s just the one change to their starting line-up from their Champions League game this week, as Mbappe returns to the starting line-up to replace Choupo-Moting, who drops to the bench.

Marseille (4-3-3): Mandanda (c); Sarr, Caleta-Car, Kamara, Sakai; Strootman, Rongier, Lopez; Payet, Benedetto, Germain

SUBS: Pele, Gonzalez, Sanson, Amavi, Khaoui, Radonjic

Paris St Germain (4-4-2): Navas; Dagba, Silva (c), Kimpembe, Bernat; Marquinhos, Herrera, Veratti; Di Maria, Mbappe, Icardi

SUBS: Cavani, Choupo-Moting, Sarabia, Draxler, Paredes, Rico, Diallo
