Mohamed Salah joins A-list celebs at Time 100 Gala in New York

Mohamed Salah joined a host of A-listers at the Time 100 Gala in New York after he was named one of the world’s most influential people – although the timing was less than perfect with the event less than 72 hours before Liverpool’s clash with Huddersfield.

The Egyptian was snapped with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke and Oscar winner Rami Malek at the red-carpet event.

Salah was one of six cover stars chosen by Time Magazine for its annual issue, with comedian John Oliver calling him "a better human than he is a football player. And he’s one of the best football players in the world".

In an interview with Time, Salah called on men across the Muslim world to treat women with more respect.

"I think we need to change the way we treat women in our culture. It’s not optional," he said. "I support the woman more than I did before, because I feel like she deserves more than what they give her now, at the moment."

But it’s fair to say not everyone was delighted with Salah being in New York, eating pizza, with Liverpool chasing a first Premier League title.
