New season, new me? Luke Shaw boasts leaner figure and new teeth ahead of Premier League campaign
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw appears to be doing all he can to get in optimum shape before the start of the new season.
But does he have a future at Manchester United? It seemed bleak last season when Jose Mourinho publicly called him out on a number of occasions.
Life at Old Trafford hasn’t quite gone according to plan since his switch from Southampton in 2014. Of course, he was sidelined for eight months after suffering that horrific leg break back in 2015, but the full-back has made just 43 appearances in the Premier League.
He’s been widely criticised for looking out of shape but appears to have been working hard during the summer in the hope of impressing Mourinho in pre-season.
Shaw, who celebrated his 23rd birthday on Thursday, posted a photo on Instagram where he shows off his leaner figure as well as some pearly white teeth. Teeth which Roberto Firmino would be very proud of.
United reported to Carrington for pre-season this week and Shaw appeared to be enjoying himself. But whether he can play his way back into Mourinho’s plans remains to be seen.
