FULL TIME: Manchester City 0 Manchester United 1
Time almost up. Aguero in the box but one turn too many and United hoof it clear once again…
City force another free kick. Everyone in the box. Hung up by Clichy and hoofed back up the field. A push by Bony concedes a free kick. United breathe again.
City force another corner and still the pressure is on. Silva takes but it goes through everyone. Still City have it…
CHANCE! Great ball from David Silva and Aguero’s first touch in the box is perfect, his shot, however, dragged wide.
Indeed, there will be SIX added minutes.
There should be a fair few added minutes of injury time for Joe Hart...
City loading players into the United area and they force a corner. In it comes but Fernandinho heads tamely wide.
Rashford looks out on his feet but United have made all their changes. Still work for the boy to do as Martial wins his side a free kick.
But it's not over yet...
Martial tries to get past Fernandinho into the box and the Brazilian simply moves across and blocks him off. A few quizzical looks but no penalty.
Man Utd sub: Darmian off for Fosu-Mensah
Looks like being all hands to the pump for United in these remaining minutes. A dangerous thing to do. Lots of men behind the ball.
City fans getting restless. United having to dig deep but City have created few clear cut chances.
Foul by Smalling on Aguero and the Argentine wants him sent off. Very unsporting. Michael Oliver unmoved.
From looking very comfortable for the majority of the match, United are now looking wobbly. The pressure is relieved as Mangala is booked for a rash challenge on Lingard.
City continuing to look very dangerous until Navas blazes over from just inside the box.
CLOSE! A measured build-up for City and a great chance for Aguero, whose header at the far post goes back across goal as it seems inevitable he will score. Bony's follow-up is blocked by De Gea.
United looking to shut up shop. How well United can organise themselves without the ball could depend the outcome of this match.
Man Utd sub: Juan Mata off for Bastian Schweinsteiger
Bastian Schweinsteiger stripping off and preparing for action.
Valencia does well to win a corner off Clichy. In it comes from Blind, eventually cleared to safety.
POST! And it’s Sergio Aguero who heads Toure’s cross against the post from a tight angle.
CHANCE! Sagna’s cross is almost turned in by Bony but he’s really well covered by Smalling, who blocks his effort back onto him and it’s out for a goal kick.
A very good period of possession from City. Been all over United for the past five minutes.
Bony has a shot blocked in the box by Rojo and that could have fallen anywhere. And that’s his last contribution as he’s replaced by Valencia.
SHOTS ON TARGET: City 2-2 United
City force a corner, again well cleared by the United defence. Back come City but a poor ball is out for a goal kick. Antonio Valencia stripping off ready for action.
Manchester United have been by far the better side today but City are well in this at only 1-0 down. David Silva has been strangely subdued.
CHANCE! Good save Caballero from Martial’s shot. A cross from Lingard is then flicked goalwards by Rashford and only Mangala’s deflection prevents another.
So Manuel Pellegrini finally decides that enough is enough. It’s an early attacking change but anything would have been better than leaving on Demichelis.
Man City sub: Wilfried Bony on for Martin Demichelis.
Caballero to the rescue, cutting out a cross intended for Rashford as United continue to press.
Indeed Caballero, the shoot-out hero, does come on to replace Hart.
Joe Hart is on the stretcher and is going off. Caballero will replace him.
No exaggeration to say that Martin Demichelis has had an absolute shocker of a match today.
Hart is still down and looks like he may have stretched a calf with that hurried clearance…
Another mistake from Demichelis with a short back pass to hart and Martial is almost in again!
Back underway here at the Ethiad where Marcus Rashford’s fifth goal in eight games separate the sides.
HALF TIME: Man City 0-1 Man Utd
PENALTY SHOUT! There looked to be a bit of shirt pulling in the box before that Toure chance so United possibly a little fortunate. Now Rashford goes down in the box and it looks a clear penalty as Demichelis mistimes his challenge.
Two added minutes at the end of this half.
This time it’s Aguero who is down after a good challenge from Blind. The Dutchman then goes after Aguero and clatters into him, sending him sprawling. Free kick but no yellow. In it comes and it looks like a simple tap in for Toure, but he fluffs it wide.
Aguero and Blind go for the same ball and the latter takes a knock on his foot that Louis van Gaal doesn’t look to happy about. Very little in it, really.
Another dangerous cross from Martial almost finds Rashford before Mangala clears.
Apart from one or two threatening Silva passes and Navas crosses, United have looked fairly comfortable. Can they continue to shackle Aguero, is the question.
Smalling does well down the right but nobody there for his cross as Martial fails to make the run.
City force another corner. Silva swings it in but well headed clear by Smalling.
Blind sticks to Aguero and gets in a fine challenge when the striker looked like he may be in.
Another dangerous cross from Navas and Smalling is forced to clear at the expense of another corner. In it comes from Navas, Sagna’s looped header easily collected by De Gea.
Nice play from Schneiderlin and his reverse pass just has too much on it for Rashfors, who made another great run before Hart got there before him. United playing well.
United force a corner. In it comes from Blind but through everyone and City eventually clear. Aguero flagged offside.
Silva goes wider left in the reshuffle that sees Fernando go central with Toure.
Man City sub: Fernando comes on for Sterling.
Fernando being prepared to come on for the limping Sterling.
Carrick concedes another corner. In it comes and United clear their lines. So far, so good for the red half of Manchester.
Raheem Sterling has taken a knock and is limping. He doesn’t look right and this would be a huge blow.
CHANCE CITY! Free kick to City. Silva takes and it’s a glaring chance for Demichelis but he heads wide only yards out.
Again, United looking sharp. Lingard’s ball with just too much on it or Rashford could have been in again.
No signs of Europa League fatigue from United thus far. They break quickly again but Martial’s ball is just behind Lingard.
SAVE! Demichelis again caught out and Lingard skates past him before squaring to Martial, whose fierce shot is beaten away by Hart.
That is FIVE goals in eight appearances for Rashford. What a start.
GOAL UNITED! And it’s Marcus Rashford who adds to his growing reputation, nutmegging Demichelis before sliding a cool finish past Hart. Game on!
CHANCE: Lovely interplay between sterling and Silva and again it reaches Navas at the far post. His shot is parried by De Gea. A good stop at his near post.
Rashford wins United a first corner off Clichy and now the Red Devils fans get behind their side. In it comes from Blind but a really poor one. Luckily, Mark Oliver wasn’t set so he gets another go. A better one but Hart punches clear well.
POSSESSION: City 53%-47% United
Lovely skill from Aguero to spin away from his marker and now Smalling must be very careful. Now Lingard brings down Silva. All City in the early stages.
Aguero fouled by Smalling and that’s an early yellow card for the United defender.
An early warning sign for United. Give Silva time and space to pick out his pacey wingers and that’s big trouble.
CHANCE! A lovely ball from Silva sets Sterling away. He crosses to Aguero and it’s deflected into the path of Navas, who shoots wide.
Pace and quick feet from Sterling but four red shirts converge on him to block his attempted cross.
Cracking atmosphere here with the top tier open behind the goal City are attacking in this opening half.
Early cross from Lingard down the right and it’s comfortably cut out. Mata also drifting over to the right flank early on.
Manchester City setting up 4-2-3-1, United likewise. Aguero and Rashford the lone strikers as Darmian concedes an early corner that United deal with.
KICK-OFF! Referee Michael Oliver blows the whistle to get us underway here at the Ethiad. These Manchester derbies often produce the goods, with the notable exception of the Old Trafford fixture earlier in the season.
FIVE MINUTES TO KICK-OFF: The players are in the tunnel and about to walk out onto the pitch. A lovely crisp spring afternoon, befitting of the occasion.
TEN MINUTES TO KICK-OFF: There were just two shots on target in this fixture back in October and 12 shots overall. The latter figure is the second lowest in any Premier League game this season. Man Utd failed to muster a single shot in the first half of a Premier League game for the first time since 2003/04 (including blocked) when these two sides met at Old Trafford earlier in the season.
Manchester United have won just one of their last eight Barclays Premier League away games (W1 D3 L4).
Manuel Pellegrini could become the first Manchester City manager to win four Premier League Manchester derbies this weekend. The last City manager to win four Manchester derbies in the league was Joe Mercer in 1970 (won five in total).
DANGER MAN: Sergio Aguero needs one goal to equal the most goals scored by a player in Premier League Manchester derbies and go level with Wayne Rooney (8). If he scores in this game then Aguero would have managed that in eight games, while Rooney took 16 derbies to do that. He has scored 11 goals in his last eight Premier League appearances at the Etihad Stadium.
Louis van Gaal: "We have to beat City and we have a chance to still qualify (for Champions League). There is always pressure. Expectations are very high so pressure for these players is always very high. We can cope with that but we were not lucky (against Liverpool). We had to recover from the West Ham game (last Sunday) and Liverpool had a week free and you could see that in the last 15 minutes and now we have the same against City. But we keep our confidence because Arsenal had the same benefit three weeks ago and we beat them also (3-2)."
City are 12 points behind leaders Leicester City with a game in hand but Pellegrini refuses to rule out his team's title chances. "In football when you have a mathematical chance you cannot think you cannot do it. It's a winning mentality, win the next game and then see which team has the most points. "A derby is always dangerous regardless of the position of both teams. United have a very good squad, it doesn't matter which way they play they're always a dangerous team."
Manuel Pellegrini: "If you have 24-48 hours more rest it's important, it's not a decisive thing for the game but you can prepare better. That's the problem with the Europa League. You play on Thursday, it's not easy to prepare."
So Nicolas Otamendi has failed to recover to make a City defence bolstered by Demichelis and Mangala. Marouane Fellaini returns to the bench for United alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger.
And here's your United line-up.
And here's how City will line up today.
Five minutes until the team sheets are released. This we do know. Man City defenders Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi were forced off in the first half of Tuesday's game by injury. Kompany will be sidelined for around a month with a calf problem but Otamendi could be fit to return against sixth-placed United. For United, Ander Herrera is a doubt after missing the Europa League loss to Liverpool with a groin problem, but Ashley Young and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson are both back in training and could be called upon.
