Hello and welcome to our LIVE text commentary of Tottenham's crucial clash with Stoke from the Britannia Stadium. None of the top five have won here, but Spurs have to do just that to reignite their title tilt. Leicester dropped points yesterday, meaning only victory will do for Mauricio Pochettino's men in Staffordshire. I'm Pete Hall, and I will be bringing you the action, as it happens, live!

Mark Hughes will not be allowing his Stoke side to lie down at the Britannia: "I have always said that on our day we can be a match for anybody," Hughes said. "We have done well against the big sides here, just not so well against others. We will have to play exceptionally well tonight, as Tottenham are a great side."

Mauricio Pochettino is under no illusions about the task facing his side this evening: "It was a good result for us yesterday, but we have to do our job," the Argentine said. "If we do not win today then it means nothing that Leicester dropped two points. It is a big opportunity for us. The gap is big, and we have to reduce it tonight."

Stoke will be no pushovers. The Potters can reach the 50-point mark this evening, giving them an excellent chance of breaking last season's point total of 54. That was a club record in the Premier League, so they'd have four games to earn five points and move past it. The Europa League is not beyond them.

All is not lost. Yes, Leicester did manage to salvage a point from a pulsating encounter at the King Power yesterday, but the gap will be cut to five points should Spurs continue their fine record on this ground. No visiting team has won more often at the Britannia than Tottenham in the Premier League (four, along with Chelsea and Manchester United).

WE HAVE A DEBUTANT! Even at this stage of the season, we have a debutant tonight, with Shay Given making his first start for Stoke in goal, replacing Jakob Haugaard. Marc Muniesa replaces suspended Erik Pieters and Geoff Cameron & Marko Arnautovic also return.

KANE AND ABLE! Harry Kane has overcome a dead leg to take his place in the starting line-up. This is the same side that were so impressive against Manchester United last time out.
