That's it, full time. A spirited performance from Sunderland, who were good value for their win. Unfortunately for Louis van Gaal, it was a typical performance from Manchester United. They are now consistently poor, and have no chance of Champions League football for the second time in three seasons.

A minute left for Sunderland to put this to bed, and Van Aanholt drills a shot into the side neeting as he jogs into the box.

Rooney wins a header at the back post, but Kone clears as Memphis runs towards the ball to follow up. Smalling then fouls N'Doye in the classic, Smalling-has-his-arms-round-the-player fashion.

Memphis shins a volley at O'Shea's stomach and elbows, and it skids out for a corner on the right amongst the penalty appeals. Blind's corner is the worst I've seen in the match, maybe this year, behind and over everyone.

Memphis jinks one way and then another, making room for a shot in the box, but Mannone stretches out to beat it away.

Mata has room to shoot from 25 yards, cuts onto his left foot, and drills a shot straight at Mannone. A waste of a dangerous position.

Kone cuts onto his right and curls in a shot from a tight angle, forcing De Gea to leap to his right to palm it over for a corner.
