Manchester City signed off their season with a 1-1 draw at Swansea City - a result that should be enough to secure fourth place in the Premier League and Champions League qualification.
Barring a miracle in the rearranged match between Manchester United and Bournemouth - a fixture abandoned due to the discovery of a bomb inside Old Trafford - new manager Pep Guardiola will take over a side in the final play-off round of the Champions League qualifiers in August.
City are 18 goals better off than sixth-placed United on goal difference and they probably should have won this match at the Liberty Stadium with Andre Ayew cancelling out Kelechi Iheanacho's fifth-minute opener with a deflected free-kick for Swansea in time added on in the first half.
But it was probably an example of how City's season has gone. They were largely unconvincing in the final third despite creating various chances throughout the afternoon before the closing 20 minutes of this contest drifted away without any real injection of pace into their play by Manuel Pellegrini's side.

Pellegrini threw his jacket into the crowd at full-time, the Chilean coach probably relieved that he has achieved his going away present of a place at the summit of the European game for his successor Guardiola, who will depart Bayern Munich after the German Cup final with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

TALKING POINT

Does Pep Guardiola have big changes to make? Very much so. This City side have underachieved with the amount of money spent, a point England goalkeeper Joe Hart conceded immediately after the match. It has been a stumble over the line by the visiting side, who were also poor in losing the second leg of their Champions League semi-final to Real Madrid. Changes need to be made to this City squad, who appear to have reached the end of the cycle that saw them win the Premier League in 2012 and 2014. At least Pep will be happy with the result of this match if not the performance from his vantage point in Munich.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Jefferson Montero (Swansea): A fine afternoon's work by the Swansea forward, who was direct and potent in subjecting Bacary Sagna to a tough going over out wide. Swansea will arguably take more out of this day than the visiting side having finished a respectable 12th under Francesco Guidolin to secure their spot in the Premier League ahead of the new television deal kicking in.

KEY MOMENTS

5' - GOAL! Complete confusion! Referee Mike Dean rules out a goal from Kelechi Iheanachno but then awards it! The striker was played onside by a defender on the ground after Aguero had a shot saved and the ball rolled to Iheanacho.
10' - GOAL DISALLOWED! Jefferson Montero has the ball in the back of the net for Swansea, but he used his arm.
24' - SAVE! Kristoffer Nordfeldt doing superbly well to beat out an effort by Aguero. Did well to get a yard there, but can't knock the ball beyond the home keeper from five yards out.
45+1' - GOAL! Andre Ayew sends a free-kick into the net. Ball comes off the head of Fernandinho from 22 yards before flying past Hart, who was heading in the wrong direction. Last action of the first half and it is 1-1.
63' - CHANCE! Another chance comes and goes for the visitors as Sergio Aguero sends a shot spinning a few yards wide of the home goal. That looked certain to be the equaliser, but not taken.

KEY STATS

Manuel Pellegrini finishes with a PL win percentage of 61.4% as Manchester City manager, just below Roberto Mancini (61.7%).
André Ayew sets a new personal best for most goals in a single league season, as he scores his 12th for Swansea in the 2015/16 PL. He netted 11 times for Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1 in 2010/11.
Swansea will be the last team to score a PL goal versus Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City. It was also a Welsh team that the Chilean's Citizens conceded their first PL goal against, the 3-2 defeat at Cardiff City on 25 August 2013.
