After scoring twice against Manchester City on Wednesday night, Celtic forward Moussa Dembele makes the shortlist of the 40 best players under the age of 21, as decided by Italian publication Tuttosport.
But the Premier League dominates the list, with Rashford just one of a number of eye-catching names including Alex Iwobi of Arsenal, Dele Alli of Tottenham and Kelechi Iheanacho of Manchester City.
Chelsea are represented very strongly with Ruben Loftus-Cheek making the shortlist along with Andreas Christensen and Nathan, both of whom are on loan away from the club at present.
Also in contention for the prize are Manchester Cit’ys summer signing Leroy Sane, Liverpool midfielder Marko Gruijic and Leicester City winger Demarai Gray.
The last two winners of the award have been at English clubs: Manchester United’s Antony Martial and Raheem Sterling, then of Liverpool, in 2014.
Other winners include the likes of Paul Pogba (2013, Juventus), Cesc Fabregas (2006, Arsenal), Lionel Messi (2005, Barcelona) and Wayne Rooney (2004, Manchester United).
