Jose Mourinho was rumoured to be on for the biggest pay-off in history if fired by Chelsea, but that may not be the case. This and more from Sunday's papers.

Mourinho 'only' entitled to £9.5m if sacked

The Sunday Mirror are reporting that Chelsea's 3-1 home defeat to Liverpool was the final straw for Roman Abramovich as far as Jose Mourinho's second stint in charge is concerned - however it seems reports of a monster pay-off in the region of £20m-£30m were exaggerated. According to the Mirror, Jose's new four-year deal comes with a clause that would only entitle him to a year's salary in compensation - around £9.5m - if he is removed from his position. And it looks like Abramovich is ready to exercise that clause.
Paper Round's view: Yeah, it's very difficult to say 'only' £9.5m when many people are fortunate to receive a few grand when they lose their job, even when not performance-related. However, with all things considered, the clause could end up being a bit of a masterstroke. Not that Roman would have noticed if they were actually paying Mourinho £50m in sacking him, given the club's spending habits over the years. But considering how quickly the club's greatest ever manager has gone from hero to villain, this clause if correct is quite the bit of foresight.

Bayern Munich's coach Pep Guardiola gestures during their German cup (DFB Pokal) second round soccer match against VfL Wolfsburg in Wolfsburg, Germany, October 27, 2015

Guardiola 'in advanced talks with City'

The Sunday Express have run an 'exclusive' this morning claiming that Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola could indeed be Manchester City manager next season. Current Etihad chief Manuel Pellegrini is contracted until 2017 and has 'only' managed to win one League Cup and one Premier League title so far. Guardiola has led Bayern to two Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup - not to mention his glut of trophies with his seminal Barcelona 'tiki-taka' side.
Paper Round's view: Guardiola has been linked with the City job for some time, and the majority of onlookers are adamant that a) Guardiola will not be Bayern boss after this season and b) Pellegrini will not be City boss after this season. The rest, if this proves to be true, would be very straightforward and centre around City asking Guardiola to name his price.

Wales' Gareth Bale celebrates after the match

United prepare yet another Bale bid

Manchester United will seemingly not rest until Gareth Bale is a Red Devil. The Mirror say the club will launch another huge bid for the Welsh star - who continues to split the Madrid fanbase - in January, though they say goalkeeper David De Gea, whose move from Old Trafford to the Bernabeu this summer fell apart in comical circumstances, will not be a part of any deal.
Paper Round's view: This, like many United-based transfer rumours, has done the rounds so many times, we here at Eurosport have adopted a 'wake us up when it actually happens' stance. Of course, the deal is viable - United have the cash, Bale's a proven Premier League commodity and no matter what the winger says, his days will be numbered in Spain if a large portion of the fans keep refusing to accept him. We're just a little worn down by the frequency at which it pops up.

Harry Kane applauds after scoring a hat-trick against Bournemouth

Bayern eye shock move for Kane

The most interesting rumour of the Sunday publications comes from The Sun, who report that Bayern Munich want £50 million-rated Spurs striker Harry Kane. The Bundesliga champions have watched Kane in action on three occasions already this season, and it seems Bayern are willing to fight Man United for the signature of the 22-year-old.
Paper Round's view: Remember those early-season claims by many that Kane was a flash in the pan, because of his slow start to 2015/16? Well, he's recently back in the goals and as a result, he's the second coming once again. Fortunately Kane appears to be making every effort to ignore the up-and-down nature of opinions on him and just wants to get on with his job, but these sort of rumours will continue nonetheless. If such a move really did happen in the next 12 months, Kane would be little more than second fiddle to the awesome Robert Lewandowski, regardless of how well he performs in the near future.
