So, Liverpool are now unbeaten in 24 home games, and they close back to within six points of Chelsea. City, meanwhile, stay third, just two points ahead of Arsenal, who have a game in hand, and one in front of Spurs and Manchester United, who do and don't.

Full-time: Liverpool 1-0 Manchester City

A smokebomb has arrived on the pitch from the away end; at least one City fan has given up.
90+3'
City haven't created a proper chance over what is now 94 minutes.

Brilliant from Origi, chasing Otamendi down into the corner and refraining from simply handing out a boot, winning the ball back and eliciting a free-kick for handball. Otamendi is booked.

And there's yerman, turning up in the left-back position to send De Bruyne behind.
90+1'
Steve McManaman gives Wijnaldum man of the match, and that seems about right - no one has stood out, and he scored a beautiful goal. Klavan has done well, I guess, and Milner too, but not that well.

There shall be four added minutes.

Change apiece: Iheanacho for Toure and Lucas for Mane.
88'
Lovely ball in from Silva, left by Aguero, who's bodied by Lallana - no foul, apparently. And then, as play proceeds towards the touchline, Fernandinho nails Guardiola. "Kelechi Iheanacho says hello," he tells him.
88'
I don't want to go on - ok, I do - but why is Iheanacho still on the bench?
86'
Liverpool are even confident enough to allow Clyne forward, and he swipes a pass into Lallana, who feeds him back in, but Stones is alive to it and does very well to intercept.
85'
City appear to have run out of ideas, and Liverpool are actually pushing now.
83'
Liverpool win a corner down the right, Milner with it - once the lino has checked a fibre of the ball is touching a fibre of whitewash. With barely any run-up, he snaps his kick to the near post, and Mane is up first, but his flick-on flashes across the face of goal and away.
81'
Milner skins two men down the touchline, of course he does, and is fouled. The free-kick eventually makes its way to Lallana, on that same left wing but down by the line and for a second it looks open for him to cross, but he opts to check and the move peters out.
79'
Guardiola is about to send on Navas, and why not? Some headless chickenry is exactly what his team are lacking.
77'
I know I said this was a better game now and it is, but the standard is still not especially high. The Manchester derby - the league one - and Spurs-City are the only two games I've seen this season that were of proper quality.
77'
Sterling pops up on the left and crosses for big David Silva, but, somehow, Klavan climbs higher and heads clear.
76'
City win another corner, down the left, and De Bruyne sends it deep; Lovren climbs very well to thunk a header clear.
