Barca prepared to wait for Pogba

We start in The Telegraph which says that Barcelona are willing to play the long game to bring Paul Pogba to the Camp Nou. The report says that the Catalan giants are willing to wait until January or even next summer to get the midfielder.
Paper Round's view: Something is going to have to give with Paul Pogba's situation at Manchester United, namely his relationship with Jose Mourinho. If Mourinho doesn't want to lose Pogba, and there is seeming no guarantee of that, then he is going to have to get behind his player and offer his full support. With Andres Iniesta departing from Barcelona there is a lovely hole in the left-hand side of their midfield which looks absolutely perfect for Pogba...

Pep wants Sterling stay

Sticking with The Telegraph and on the back page there are quotes from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who has said that he wants Raheem Sterling to stay the club. Sterling is entering the final two years of his deal and whilst the club have reportedly offered a new contract it hasn't reached the player's demands.
Paper Round's view: Sterling has got to be careful here. It's not a great look if Manchester City of all clubs decide you're being too unreasonable with your financial demands. Sterling is a fantastic young player and he is only going to get better under Guardiola, it's probably for the best if this situation is resolved sooner rather than later.

Man Utd to appoint first director of football

Moving to The Guardian where it is reported that Manchester United are planning to appoint the first director of football in their history following the transfer window that just came, where manager Jose Mourinho was open in his criticism of the club's moves.
Paper Round's view: This is going to be interesting. Mourinho's relationship with former Chelsea director of football Michael Emenalo was famously not brilliant. Furthermore whilst it is probably a sensible move in the long-term it does sort of feel like Ed Woodward is just trying to remove some of the blame directed at him, be that from Mourinho or the media. Also whilst United haven't had a director of football it does seem that David Gill's role during Sir Alex Ferguson's tenure has been forgotten very quickly...

David Luiz set for key role under Sarri

And we end with The Mirror, who have quotes from Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri saying that David Luiz will have a key role under him after being frozen out under Antonio Conte. Luiz started the opening day 3-0 win over Huddersfield and Sarri was full of praise for the Brazilian both on and off the pitch.
Paper Round's view: This is great news for Chelsea fans. Luiz is one of the most popular players in the squad and he has a great relationship with the supporters. Is he going to be the perfect defender? Possibly not. Is he good enough to play for Chelsea for the forseeable future? Yes. Smart move from Sarri.
