Paper Round: Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte go head-to-head for PSG job

We start with an exclusive from The Mirror, who report that Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho could go head-to-head in the summer for the PSG job. Unai Emery could be fired and both Mourinho and Conte could walk away from their current jobs despite having time to run on their contracts at Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

Paper Round's view: Well this certainly won't do anything to stop the war of words going on between the pair right now. It's interesting to note that the report says Conte's camp feel confident about a deal getting done. Might that be a signal from PSG of their preference? Or just a sign of the relative ease given his shorter contract?

We move on to an exclusive from The Mail, who are also convinced that Conte will leave Chelsea at the end of the season. Their report says that Conte's compatriots Max Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are on the club's shortlist along with Luis Enrique. However former manager Carlo Ancelotti is not being considered.

Paper Round's view: There were question marks over Conte but his time in England will certainly be considered a success. Allegri has enjoyed similar success domestically but despite Napoli's attacking football they are yet to win a trophy under Sarri. All three would represent solid choices but it's too difficult to tell what would happen with either of them.

In the Telegraph it is reported that Manchester United have made inquiries about a range of strikers including Alexis Sanchez, Jamie Vardy and Javier Hernandez as they continue to search for a back-up to Romelu Lukaku. Sanchez is still expected to join Manchester City whilst Vardy might prove to be expensive. Hernandez has been linked with a move to LAFC and Jose Mourinho has previously said that he's not sure Hernandez would fit into this squad.

Paper Round's view: Most reports suggest that City will still sign Sanchez (see below) and it's hard to see Vardy taking a back-up role given he already turned down Arsenal in the past. There would certainly be a lot of fans who would be excited to see Hernandez back at Old Trafford.

Finally we end with The Express, who report that despite the late bids from United, Sanchez is still expected to end up with City. His relationship with Pep Guardiola is reportedly the key in that move happening.

Paper Round's view: It was an ambitious effort from United but it always seemed unlikely to happen. Now to see whether City can get the deal done this month or not...
