Has Jurgen Klopp actually criticised Manchester United as he prepares for Liverpool's Champions League final against Real Madrid?

What is the story?

In an interview with Robbie Fowler, Jurgen Klopp discussed what attracted him to Liverpool, and some people have taken one his quotes as an attack on Manchester United.
First he praised Liverpool, saying:
"I love the history... A little thing. Liverpool is a world class brand, big, big, big, but in Melwood, you know it Robbie, it is still a family, nothing else, and you can go in and feel that.
"I have to develop and improve, sure, but I don't want to go into the office in the morning to wear a tie. That is not me.
"So when you see the pictures – and I realise it as well, by the way – I look still like a player... that's not cool, but that's me. I go in with a baseball cap and they still respect me, I don't have to act in a specific way.
"They took me like I am, they didn't ask me to do anything else, so I could focus from the first day completely on football.
"It is a football club. A FOOTBALL club."
Cue a staggering number of media outlets branding his quotes an attack on United - or, if you'd prefer, 'the reason he didn't want to move to Old Trafford'.

What's wrong with that?

Nothing, and Liverpool fans like nothing more than being told they are a special family, and delight in being praised for simply existing.

Jurgen Klopp is an intelligent man, and he has what appears to be a real affection for Liverpool.

So, what did he say about United?

Well, nothing. He invoked a nameless other club to compare to Liverpool, saying:
"I had talks with other clubs and they didn't sound like a football club. It sounded like marketing, image, you need to sign this, you need to sign that. And I thought 'wow, that's not the game I love'.
"It's all part of football, but it can not be the number one, two, three, four, priority. First of all please try to improve the game we play."

Did he actually say anything about Manchester United?

No. And there were no credible reports at the time that Klopp was ever considered for the Manchester United job, and while the ever-changing timeline of events over Alex Ferguson's retirement is updated all the time to suit various parties, only David Moyes was properly considered for the job.

What's going on?

Well, while he didn't specifically mention Manchester United, you only have to take a look from Liverpool to Manchester for 0.0000000000000000001 seconds to realise that it's an accurate summary of Ed Woodward's strategy.
Only last week Woodward told investors that the playing side of United is largely disconnected from the earnings potential of the club, and we all know that Woodward desires big-money, big-name signings to attract sponsors. Klopp has a Champions League final, sure, but does he have an official tractor sponsor?
