West Ham confirm David Moyes appointment

David Moyes has been appointed as West Ham manager following the dismissal of Slaven Bilic.

The 54-year-old Scot returns to the Premier League with the Hammers in the relegation zone after a disastrous start to the season.
"We need the support, we need everybody with us," Moyes told the club’s social channels.
It’s a big job we have in hand now, but I’m sure with everybody together we can get the right results between now and the end of the season.
Moyes enjoyed an impressive 11-year tenure at Everton before stepping into Sir Alex Ferguson’s void at Manchester United.
But it was at Old Trafford where his career spiralled downwards, with a dismissal after 10 months setting the tone for poor spells at Real Sociedad and Sunderland.
However, West Ham have quickly decided Moyes is the manager to boost their fortunes – with the club currently 18th in the table after collecting just two wins from 11 games.
"We need somebody with experience, knowledge of the Premier League and the players in it, and we believe David is the right man to turn things around and get the best out of the players at the club," said Hammers joint-chairman David Sullivan.
He is highly regarded and respected within the game, and will bring fresh ideas, organisation and enthusiasm. He proved with Everton that he has great qualities and we feel that West Ham United is a club that will give David the platform to display those qualities again.
Moyes’ first test is a trip to Watford on November 19, before his first game at the London Stadium against Leicester City on November 24.
