Great from Pogba, terrible from Hart. He bursts past the West Ham midfield and unleashes a shot from distance. Hart's all over the place and can't get to it.

So, so easy. Mkhitaryan plays a beautiful first-time pass through to Martial and the Frenchman easily slots the ball under Hart.

The game is starting to fizzle out now as you would imagine.

West Ham are trying to find a consolation goal but they aren't even close to troubling United.

Martial's first involvement is to float a ball in from the left but Lukaku can't quite reach it.

Masuaku sends in another cross. It's straight at De Gea...

And now he's been hauled off. Cresswell is on as he bids to regain some fitness. You've got to think when that happens he'll be first choice.

And there's another change for United as Rashford is given a break and Martial comes on.

More bad news for Zabaleta...

Another poor cross from Masuaku finds its way to Arnautovic at the back post but he blazes it over.

There's around 15 minutes to go and as Lukaku blazes over from outside the box we're going to have some United changes.

Mata is off for Fellaini so you'd imagine that Pogba will push forward more.

Manchester United's Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku celebrates scoring his team's second goal

I'm not sure if Valencia meant that cross or he over-hit it but it worked. Mata and Pogba combine to release the captain on the right and Valencia sends the ball to the back-post. Blind takes it first time but hits his volley into the ground and over.

If there's one positive for West Ham, and I'm really stretching now.

It's that in his ten minutes or so Rice has looked pretty good, very comfortable on the ball.

Arnautovic has gone more central but there isn't much being created for West Ham. Pogba gets in behind but is stopped by a good tackle.

West Ham have a free-kick and it goes nowhere near a West Ham player.

What a strike that is from Rashford.

He picks the ball up on the left and cuts inside, curling a shot towards goal. It beats Hart and rattles the post. Terrific effort.

Now Mkhitaryan has a go from the edge of the area but Hart gets downw ell to make the save.

Sakho and youngster Rice are on and the former nearly pulls one back for West Ham.

However United break and Lukaku is denied a hat-trick by Zabaleta. The ball comes back into the box and Hart punches clear.

Hey West Ham have done something!

A ball is floated over the defence and Arnautovic gets a good header away.

De Gea watches it go over his bar, but it's a chance.

That's more or less game over you would imagine.

United think they have a third but it's brought back for offside.

It's a question of how many at this stage.

  • Romelu Lukaku
GoalRomelu LukakuManchester UnitedGOAL! MANCHESTER UNITED 2-0 WEST HAM (LUKAKU) And from the free-kick from Mkhitaryan Lukaku nods it home. It is so, so, so easy. Masuaku and Reid's defending is laughable. Remember, there are some people who actually though Lukaku was a bad buy...

And from the free-kick from Mkhitaryan Lukaku nods it home. It is so, so, so easy.

Masuaku and Reid's defending is laughable.

Remember, there are some people who actually though Lukaku was a bad buy...

Now Pogba gives away a free-kick and West Ham can't clear the first man. Such a waste.

Then Masuaku tries to send in a cross and it's easy for De Gea.

The United keeper gets United going on the counter and as Rashford skips past Zabaleta he is brought down, resulting in a yellow for the West Ham man.

Pogba shrugs off a West Ham midfielder and slips Rashford in.

His touch is good but he can't find the far corner and sends it wide.

West Ham try to cause some danger with an early free-kick but United clear comfortably. With Lukaku they now look very dangerous on the break.

We're back underway for the second-half.

No changes for either side.

Lukaku backheels it to Pogba who spins his man.

West Ham's best move as Ayew slips it through to Noble who passes it back into the Ghanian's path.

Fernandes beats Ayew to the ball but his shot is well saved by De Gea.

And that's half-time.

Apart from the last 30 seconds United have looked very comfortable.

Work to do in the second-half for West Ham.

Commentator's curse.

Bailly is the first man into the book for a challenge on Hernandez.

There's been a lot of niggly fouls in this half, Valencia on Hernandez the latest, from both sides.

Still no card.

Manchester United's Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku celebrates scoring the opening goal

United fans are having a wonderful afternoon in the son. First Matic goes on a fantastic run, beating a number of players. Then Jones comes flying in to clear a ball. Both met with equally loud roars.

West Ham have a massive point about how their four new signings will change things for them and help them get back up the league.

I'm just not sure that's true. Hernandez is isolated, Arnautovic is moody, Zabaleta is old and Hart isn't good.

I predicted an easy United win ahead of the game and frankly it's hard to see anything else after that goal.

West Ham have offered nothing, United have been probing and thoroughly deserved their goal.

United break as West Ham waste a free-kick and Lukaku tries to find Rashford but Zabaleta does well to cover.

Hernandez is on the floor as he's taken out by Matic.

A corner makes its way to the back post and Lukaku looks poised to score his first United goal but Hart does well to palm away.

Arnautovic is getting really frustrated here. Every time the ball is cleared it's just wild and there's no direction even though he is finding space.

CHANCE! Mata makes a run in behind and is found by a beautiful ball from Pogba. He looks to square it to Lukaku but Ogbonna clears.

Blind bursts forward and his shot is deflected out for a throw.

It comes to Rashford and he swivels and turns but is blocked out and United win another corner. It comes to nothing as a couple of players go down in the box. Atkinson isn't interested.

the ball comes through to Arnautovic following a couple of headers but he's offside.

Clearly frustrated, the forward takes a swipe at the ball and manages to hit the post, much to the amusement of the crowd.

Oh Pogba that's wonderful. He makes a tackle and then as the ball is loose a little touch takes it over the head of a West Ham man and he's away.

Now Hernandez is in trouble with Atkinson for a challenge with the ball on the air.

Noble tries to find the striker a minute later with a ball over the top but Hernandez scuffs his volley and United clear.

United take a free-kick quickly and slip Mata in. Hart comes charging out and makes the save but Mata gets the ball again on the by-line. He squares it but somehow Lukaku can't score as West Ham throw bodies in his way.

I tell you what that's a marvellous passage of play as a series of crunching tackles come flying in.

Atkinson lets the game flow and it ends with Zabaleta getting the ball out for a throw.

Mourinho is off out of his seat and complaining about how long Hart is taking with his kicks.

The United manager looks very suave today, and in general far happier than last season.

The corner is cleared by West Ham but United come back and win another.

This is going to be a long old afternoon for the Hammers...

It's interesting that Matic, a left-footed player is the right central midfielder, and Pogba, a right-footed player, is the left central midfielder.

Not sure what the reasoning is there. Matic spreads the ball wonderfully to Mkhitaryan and he wins a corner.

Manchester United's Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku (R) vies with West Ham United's Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang (L)

United are tightening the screw here.

West Ham are struggling to get out of their half and when they do Hernandez is far too isolated.

Hart's under a lot of pressure here. The United fans are giving a chorus of 'City reject' to him. If he makes a mistake it could be carnage. A cross from Pogba nearly reaches Lukaku but Reid just about snuffs it out.

Hernandez is doing well up there on his own.

He's fighting Jones on every occasion and doing well for his team.

The corner is flicked on by Bailly but no-one behind him reacts. Blind tries to send it in again but it hits Matic and goes out for a goal-kick.

First chance for Lukaku to open his legs as he touches the ball past Masuaku and goes. He beats the West Ham defender for pace and wins a corner.

Game has slightly slowed with West Ham careful not to pressure United too much.

Hernandez v Jones looks like it's going to be a good duel. The Mexican has a surprising leap on him don't forget.

Arnautovic wins a free-kick as Valencia comes into the back of him.

West Ham take it quick and the Austrian is away down the left. He cuts it back to Fernandes on the edge of the area but the midfielder gets crowded out.

First touch for Hart and it's too pass it short out to his defender.

He was under pressure from Lukaku but even still.

Jones gets a talking to from Martin Atkinson after clattering into Hernandez.

And we're underway!

United are in their usual red with West Ham in their dark away kit.

Right we're five minutes away.

What are your predictions?

It's going to be interesting to watch this one play out and I think if West Ham are going to get anything out of this then Arnautovic, not Hernandez, could be the key.

With three central midfielders there's less pressure on him to come back.

He's inconsistent, but he's capable of exactly the sort of magic that smaller teams need in games like this.

West Ham United

And here's Bilic

"Our opening matches in my 3 years have been Arsenal, Chelsea & Man Utd – I must have done something to upset the fixture computer!

"We have to relish these big occasions. We beat Arsenal & were very close to getting a draw at Chelsea, so we have no fear."

Manchester United

Speaking of Mourinho here is what he had to say ahead of the game.

"I want to play West Ham a difficult match, then go to Swansea for another difficult match. I want the Champions League to start. I want, I want, I'm on fire. But I will behave on the touchline, even if goals are offside,"

If West Ham are going to get something out of this match then it might well come from Javier Hernandez.

The former Manchester United striker scored 37 Premier League goals in 103 matches for the Red Devils.

West Ham United's Javier Hernandez

It gets worse for West Ham.

Jose Mourinho has won seven and drawn one of his eight Premier League opening day fixtures.

Furthermore Mourinho has never lost a home game on a Sunday in all competitions. Winning 86 and drawing 26 of 112

The signs are not good for West Ham ahead of this game.

They have lost ten opening day fixtures, more than any other Premier League side.

United have not lost at home to West Ham in the league since the final day of the 2006-07 season and that was a United team including Alan Smith and Kieran Richardson facing a West Ham team powered by Carlos Tevez fighting for survival.

West Ham United

West Ham look to be in more of a 4-3-3 but that might be down to playing away at Old Trafford and the fact that Manuel Lanzini is out injured.

Hart, Zabaleta, Reid, Ogbonna, Masuaku, Noble, Obiang, Fernandes, Arnautovic, Ayew, Chicarito.

There are debuts for summer signings Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez.

Manchester United

So rather than moving to a 4-3-3 as had been mooted, or even using three at the back it looks like a classic 4-2-3-1 for United.

De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Jones, Blind, Pogba, Matic, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Lukaku

No Ander Herrera which is interesting but he does make a strong bench which doesn't include summer signing Victor Lindelof...
