Following speculation by a number of media outlets, Lyon tweeted on Friday: “The information on the transfer of Nabil Fekir is false.
“Olympique Lyonnais categorically denies the false information disseminated by many media about the transfer of Nabil Fekir to the Liverpool club.”
The 24-year-old was linked to Liverpool earlier in the week, in a deal which was said to be worth around €60million.
However, Lyon dismissed the rumours, highlighting gossip amid the transfer window.
They tweeted: “In this period of transfers where the slightest rumour is often presented as a reality, Olympique Lyonnais reminds that only the information broadcast by the club on its website is authentic.”
Fekir is due to fly to Russia with France’s national squad on Saturday, with their campaign kicking off a week later against Australia on June 16.
