Alexis Sanchez is stealing the headlines, but Tuesday’s papers still had time for updates on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Emre Can and Andy Carroll.

Wenger unsure on Aubameyang

Arsene Wenger is unsure whether Arsenal should splash out £50m on Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Daily Star reports. Wenger has concerns over the Gabon international’s temperament, while he was most recently left out of Dortmund's squad for Sunday’s game against Wolfsburg after missing a team meeting.

Aubameyang ‘hands in transfer request’

Arsenal’s bid to sign Aubameyang has been boosted after the striker reportedly handed in a transfer request. According to German outlet Bild – via the Mirror - Aubameyang put the Gunners on red alert by handing in an official request to leave the Westfalenstadion.
Paper Round’s view: This would be a huge coup for Arsenal, and more than soften the blow of Alexis Sanchez’s departure, but is this really a step in the right direction for Aubameyang? So much for attracting the interest of Europe’s elite – perhaps they too have passed on the forward given his chequered behavioural record.

Can denies Juve agreement

Emre Can says he has not yet decided to join Juventus, handing Liverpool hope that the midfielder will stay at Anfield. Reports in Italy claim he has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Italian champions, but Can has not ruled out the possibility of staying at Anfield, where his current deal expires in the summer.
“I haven’t signed anything (with Juventus) or anyone. I am talking with everyone,” said Can. “Of course I am talking with Liverpool. Why not? I still have a contract here. It is an amazing club. What can I say? My agent does the rest. I just concentrate on the scene, on my performance and the football. I will give everything for this team.”
Paper Round’s view: How much would Can be missed if he left Liverpool? His performance on Sunday against Manchester City indicated that the German can become an important player for the Reds, but these showings have been too few and far between this season. Regardless, there appears to be a belief that Can will now stay, particularly after Dejan Lovren’s latest Instagram post - which also saw Daniel Sturridge comment 'Kerching!'.

West Ham ‘won’t loan out Carroll’

West Ham are unwilling to let Andy Carroll join Chelsea on loan this month, the Daily Mail reports. The Blues are reportedly lining up Carroll, with the club believing the striker is keen to join them given they are in the Champions League – as well as the fact that his family would not have to move.
Paper Round’s view: It’s a clear indication that Antonio Conte is seeking a Plan B – that doesn’t come in the shape of Michy Batshuayi. Having missed out on Fernando Llorente in the summer, is Carroll the next-best option? He would be a back-up at most at Stamford Bridge, and it’s difficult to see Carroll breaking into the Chelsea side if he can’t hold down a spot on the east side of London.
