Alisson won't commit to Roma, Anthony Martial is considering his Manchester United future, Mo Salah has no release clause, and N'Golo Kante is happy at Chelsea.

Liverpool battle Real for Alisson

Liverpool and Real Madrid will battle for Roma's Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson. The 25-year-old hasn't committed to extending his contract in Italy, saying he would prefer to wait until the end of the season to discuss his future. His agent said: "Alisson is certainly one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He loves Roma, 100 per cent. Will he sign a new contract? Now he is focused only in Serie A and on the Champions League."
Paper Round's view: Alisson's choice appears to be a choice between three. He can stay at Roma, where he is happy, but presumably on much lower wages than he would get should he move. At Liverpool, there would be the chance of regular Champions League football, but at Real Madrid he would get all of that plus the expectation that he would be competing for every trophy, every year. It depends on how much pressure he is willing to take on.

Martial considers future at United

Manchester United could lose Anthony Martial this summer. The 22-year-old France international has featured regularly this season, but has not displaced either Marcus Rashford or Alexis Sanchez convincingly. United are not looking to sell him in the planned summer clearout, but his agent Philippe Lamboley said: “Will [Martial] stay in Manchester in the summer? At the moment, I cannot say anything else about it.”

Paper Round's view: Martial clearly has a huge amount of talent, but United are top-heavy in attack, and Jose Mourinho might decide that the chance to sell for a hefty sum and bring in reinforcements elsewhere is a worthwhile swap. United would be taking a gamble in letting him go, as all Martial appears to need is regular football in order to become one of the best forwards in the world.

Liverpool refuse to consider Salah sale

Liverpool are letting it be known that there is no chance that they will sell Mo Salah in this transfer window. Salah has 36 goals already this season, and the 25-year-old Egyptian international has said he is happy at Liverpool. However, there have been rumours that he is interesting Real Madrid in Spain, but there is no release clause in his contract which would allow him a swift transfer.

Paper Round's view: Philippe Coutinho's exit to Barcelona showed two things. One, the owners really will not sell if they don't want to. They are exceptionally stubborn when it comes to selling their best players, and their rivals have evidence of this from Coutinho, going back to Suarez. Of course, nothing can be guaranteed going into the transfer window.

Kante plays down PSG move

N'Golo Kante has said he is happy in London at Chelsea, amid the suggestion that Paris Saint-Germain want to sign him. The 26-year-old French midfielder won the league with Chelsea in his first season, and has been one of their better performers this year. He said: "I am at home. It is my club, I am a Chelsea player. This is my second year at Chelsea. After what happened last season, it was a very good one for us because we got to celebrate winning the title."
Paper Round's view: Current Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is set to leave in the summer, so Kante's future does not depend just on him, but on whoever replaces the current boss. However, such is Kante's form and importance to the side, it seems likely that he would be retained, and perhaps even given a new contract.
