Paper Round: Sarri favourite for Chelsea job

Chelsea want Maurizio Sarri, Manchester United go cold on Danny Rose, Liverpool will miss out on Alisson, and new Derby boss Frank Lampard wants Chelsea's Jay Dasilva.

Sarri head of pack for Chelsea job

After months of speculation, Maurizio Sarri is favourite to replace Antonio Conte as Chelsea's manager for next season. Sarri's £7m release clause has expired, but he has been replaced as Napoli boss by Carlo Ancelotti, despite still being under contract. Conte is due £9.5m in compensation if he is sacked by Chelsea, but does not expect to stay on for next year's football.

Paper Round's view: There is speculation that Sarri is not the only person under consideration. Brazil manager Tite is the latest name in the frame, suggesting that Chelsea are not entirely sold on Sarri, especially as they have let his release clause drift. The club can in theory afford almost anybody they want, so perhaps there is a lack of clarity at the top after Roman Abramovich's recent troubles getting residency in Britain.

United go cold on Rose

Manchester United had been expected to make a move for £55m-rated Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose, but that move appears to have fallen apart. Mauricio Pochettino and Rose, 27, have patched up their differences after a falling out, though Everton and Borussia Dortmund are two clubs who remain interested. With Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young on their books, United are prioritising a central defender.

Paper Round's view: Dalot, Young and Shaw should be enough for United on the left-hand side, if Jose Mourinho is able to coach Shaw back to his best, and bring on the potential the club see in Dalot. Young has done well enough to get a place at the World Cup, but it is a huge risk to keep him as first-choice for yet another season when he has shown he is vulnerable against pace and talent.

Alisson set to stay at Roma

Liverpool are considering their options over a potential goalkeeper. Alisson's representatives have been informed not to expect a bid from the club this season, but if they bid around 70 million euros, then Roma might be forced to sell regardless. Alisson is meant to prefer a move to Real Madrid if he does leave Roma, and Simon Mignolet is still expected to leave Liverpool.

Paper Round's view: The goalkeeping position has been a problem for Liverpool since the departure of Pepe Reina, and even he struggled at times at Anfield. Now, they have to resolve the situation with their superb forward line. Jurgen Klopp has plenty of money at Liverpool, but it appears the club may struggle to attract the top talent with more glamorous clubs at home and abroad at the head of the queue.

Lampard looks to Dasilva

Frank Lampard is looking to his old club Chelsea to provide some assistance as he starts his role as the new Derby manager. One player he is looking at is Chelsea's England Under-21 international, Jay Dasilva. The 20-year-old wing back is highly rated, and is wanted by Charlton, where he has already spent some time on loan.

Paper Round's view: Lampard left Chelsea on good terms, and he has preserved a decent relationship despite him returning to play in the Premier League for the Manchester City. Lampard seems a bright, young manager, and Dasilva could learn plenty from Lampard. As a young player, he demonstrated plenty of professionalism to make the most of his talent. Dasilva will need to learn that if he is to break into the Chelsea first team.
