Arsenal track Wan-Bissaka

The Sun brings news of Arsenal’s transfer plans for next season, and they are planning on bidding for Crystal Palace’s young defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Everton, Manchester City and Bayern Munich are following the 21-year-old. However, Arsenal are favourites to sign him and staying in London could appeal. A £40 million offer is thought to be the sum that Palace are looking for.

Paper Round’s view: Wan-Bissaka will likely break into the England first team in the coming months as he gains more Premier League experience. At that point, he will be worth even more on the transfer market, so any suitors will need to act quickly to secure a relative bargain. Hector Bellerin’s serious injury means a replacement could become first-choice at the start of next season.

Barcelona target Saul

Barcelona are planning for more transfer reinforcements. They have already agreed the transfer of Frenkie De Jong from Ajax, but now have their sights set on Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez. The 23-year-old has a €150million release clause, but Barcelona are preparing to offer €110million, which would make Saul the most expensive Spanish player in history. AS believes this means Ivan Rakitic will soon be leaving.

Paper Round’s view: It seems Barcelona are throwing money at their team to secure an improvement in the team’s fortunes. The club could still end up as Champions League and La Liga winners this season, but the squad has weaknesses in defence and midfield. With a lack of options to promote from within it is no surprise they are ready to move in the transfer market..

Hart to depart for USA

The Sun carries another transfer story, indicating that Joe Hart’s time in the Premier League could soon be up. The paper thinks that he could make the switch to MLS football after last playing for Burnley on Boxing Day. Burnley will listen to offers that cover the goalkeeper’s wages, as they have Nick Pope to compete with Tom Heaton for the rest of the season.

Paper Round’s view: Hart is clearly a talented player, even if he is not the goalkeeper he once was. At 31 he has perhaps a decade longer to continue to improve and work on his game. A move to MLS could offer the chance to reset and relax, and enjoy a career away from the pressure that playing in England brings. To his credit, he has shown a willingness to play abroad once already.

Rondon wants Newcastle stay

There is more promising news in the transfer market for Newcastle United - Salomon Rondon wants to stay at the club, according to the Newcastle Chronicle. The 29-year-old Venezuelan is happy make his loan move from West Bromwich Albion permanent despite attracting interest from other clubs, and has scored eight goals for the Toon this season.

Paper Round’s view: Rondon’s eight goals are pretty impressive for a side that is struggling at the wrong end of the table, and if WBA do not gain promotion from the Championship this season then they would probably let him go for a reduced fee to reduce their wage bill. Transfers at the club will depend on who buys them from Mike Ashley, and if Rafael Benitez stays on.
