Benjamin Mendy may have had his social media usage highlighted by his manager, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be toning it down anytime soon…
The marauding left-back was called out by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in the aftermath of the win over Arsenal last week, with the Spaniard urging him to curb his off-pitch antics and focus on improving as a player.
"Mendy is Mendy. Sometimes we want to kill him and sometimes you think, wow, what a player we have," Guardiola said. "Hopefully we can convince him to forget a little bit the social media and improve a few things."
However, the Frenchman immediately took to Twitter after City’s 6-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Sunday to salute his side’s performance.
He reserved special praise for Mateo Silva, son of David, who appeared in his dad’s arms as mascot prior to the match.
Alongside a picture of the Silvas, he wrote: "Our MOTM [man of the match] today is him (and I’m not talking about his dad)."
Mateo spent five months in hospital after being born prematurely at 25 weeks in December.
