Football news - Denis Suarez to join Arsenal on loan? Barca quickly delete statement confirming move

Barcelona appeared to confirmed that midfielder Denis Suarez has signed a contract extension with the club and had subsequently joined Arsenal on loan for the rest of the season yet the statement was quickly deleted.

Suarez, 25, signed for Barcelona in 2016 from Villarreal after previously spending time with the club's B team as well as Manchester City.
Recently he has struggled for game time and was heavily linked with a move away, with Arsenal mentioned as the most likely scenario.
The Spanish champions appeared to confirm on Wednesday confirmed that Suarez has signed a one-year extension to his current deal, meaning his contract now runs until 2021.
However after it appearing on their website the statement was deleted, suggesting that they had jumped the gun.

It was stated that he spend the rest of the season with Arsenal and the deal does include an option for the Gunners to buy at the end of the season which is reported to be £18 million.
They are to pay his wages in full during the loan.
It will be the first signing Arsenal have made in the January transfer window.
