Spain and Real Madrid great Iker Casillas has hit out at Jose Mourinho after Manchester United’s defeat to Liverpool – deepening the rift between the two.
United were awful in their 3-1 loss to Liverpool, allowing 36 shots against them at Anfield and completing only 65% of their passes.
And Casillas couldn’t resist the chance to suggest that Mourinho’s time as United manager should be up as he took to Twitter.
Responding to suggestions from Mourinho that at 37 his career is nearly over, Casillas tweeted:
"According to a Portuguese newspaper someone said that a player like me (37 years) is at the end of his career. Completely agree!
"My question is, for that newspaper: in the case of coaches, when and at what point do you see that they are no longer to lead a team or train?"
Casillas and Mourinho fell out when the latter managed Madrid, with Mourinho bringing in Keylor Navas to ease out the club legend.
United’s defeat to Liverpool leaves them 11 points off the top four.
