Mohamed Salah scored his first goal in four games to give Liverpool a hard fought 1-0 win away to Huddersfield Town.
The Reds, whose team had a 2014 feel to it with Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana starting and Divick Origi on the bench, were far from their free-flowing best.
But they took the lead through Salah’s low strike from a tight angle for his fourth goal of the season.
David Wagner will be wondering how his side failed to equalise after dominating the rest of the half with Jonathan Hogg rattling the post and Alex Pritchard having a goal controversially ruled out for off-side.
The Terriers put in a spirited second half display after some attacking substitutions but they carved out few chances to leave them still without a goal in five home games.
Jurgen Klopp brought on Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho for his Premier League debut and Robert Firmino late on but they did not reach their fluent best but held on to leave them joint top with Manchester City while the Terriers are 19th and winless in 13 matches.

TALKING POINT

Liverpool cementing their title credentials with a hard fought win after going four games without a victory.
Even when they have an off day the Reds are grinding out wins away from home to show they have the quality and mettle to match Manchester City. They dropped nine points last season against the three teams eventually relegated. Today they showed their defence is more solid and they have a bench with a lot of depth to call upon to remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool): The Reds were far from their best going forward. But the only moment of real quality came from the Egyptian who netted his 50th goal in English football from a tight angle.
