Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba could miss Sunday’s trip to the Etihad to face crosstown rivals Manchester City.
Pogba, 25, missed training at the Aon Training Complex on Friday but hopes to prove his fitness during Saturday’s final session ahead of the clash.
The former Juventus midfielder is understood to have undertaken gym work due to the unspecified injury but his absence would serve as quite a blow to a resurgent United.
Both teams are in good form, with seventh-placed United on a three-game winning streak and league leaders City having gone 11 games unbeaten in all competitions.
The France international was instrumental as United fought back to beat City in last season’s corresponding fixture.
City were in control against, leading by two first-half goals, only for United to stage a second-half rally and win 3-2, with Pogba scoring twice in a matter of minutes before Chris Smalling fired the winner.
Romelu Lukaku could return to the matchday squad.
The Belgian, who has scored four goals for United this season, missed Wednesday's 2-1 win at Juventus in the Champions League as well as last weekend's 2-1 Premier League victory over Bournemouth.
He trained on Friday following a hamstring injury and will return to the squad should there be no adverse effects.
