Liverpool's goalless draw in the Merseyside derby is a blow to their title charge and came after a disjointed performance from Klopp's side. But the German coach says that the conditions also had a major part to play in the game.
I know people don't like it when I say it, but the wind came from all directions, and in a lot of situations it didn't help any football to be played out there - especially when the ball was in the air, which it was a lot.
It is the third time this season that Klopp has referenced windy conditions after Liverpool have dropped points, while he has also blamed snow, hot weather, a dry pitch, the length of the grass and the impact of TV directors for the Reds' other disappointing results in the otherwise excellent campaign.
The draw against Everton prevented Liverpool from regaining top spot in the Premier League table, and Klopp admitted it was a testing afternoon for his group of players.
“It is OK, a difficult game for different reasons and a wild opponent,” Klopp said. "It was a game that was difficult to control and we had three or four really big chances with Mohamed Salah and Fabinho, I don’t remember them having any chances. It is 0-0 and we kept our unbeaten run against them, not exactly what we wanted but it was a difficult game.
"Salah is doing everything right up until the last second, we had our moments and we have to fight the circumstances and the opposition, the boys did that. Our derbies are over and we play all the others now. It was not a genius game but we got a point against an opponent who is double motivated.
"We have to take the situation as it is. We talk about a free-flowing Liverpool side the other day and now we have Burnley at Anfield. Only 400 yards away from here but a completely different game. We have to show stability and fight for the result.”
